Reviews for Green Cay Marina
Amazing secluded paradise, 2017-04-21

This marina is simple: great protection through a really cool breakwater entrance, good docks, good facilities and great spot. You need a car to get to town, but the marina is a wonderful place to pull in and rest your head for a few days or more. The staff is super friendly and took very good care of us.

Excellent!, 2016-11-27

We docked our 41' Jeanneau at Green Cay Marina from mid-August to mid- November 2016. Steve aand Wes were excellent to work with - they kept a careful watch on our boat during the months it was there, and when we were away. The marina was untouched by Matthew this October. Great facilities, Deep End and Galleon restaurants on property. St. Croix and especially Green Cay Marina is a must stop in the USVIs!

Best provisioning around, 2016-03-04
Captain: , Vieques, PR (40)

St Croix is worth a visit and this is the place to stay. Dockmaster Steve provides excellent customer service, place is clean, well protected and felt very safe. We stayed 5 weeks, only downside is the growth on the boat bottom from the warm water....
There are numerous options for provisioning, the new Seaside Market on the way to Christiansted is best for fruits and local veggies, then Plaza Express, mid-island, is best for dry goods, then Quality Foods (off the south shore road) has stuff you won't find elsewhere. There's Pueblos, a CostULess and Foodtown but you don't even need them after the other options.
STX may not have the gorgeous beaches of other islands, but it has excellent art, achitecture, music and food. If you can be there for a JumpUp or an ArtWalk thursday it's extra fun. Plus it's a great beam reach sail from the other VIs, we'll be back!!

Excellent protection and staff, 2016-03-02

The narrow entrance to this marina is shallow on the port side as you come in so stay to stbd where the deeper water is. Facilities are great and the dock master was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Marina is well protected with nice facilities and very good restaurant. It includes free access to the Tamarind Resort next door offering a pool, free kayaks, free paddle boards and a nice restaurant.

Great place, take care entering, 2016-01-31

The entrance channel shows 8'9 on the chart but I grounded drawing 5'7" just past the entrance. Luckily a power boater took a line and towed me back off the bottom. They said keep to the right in the channel and I made it in with no problem doing that. I had been just left of center when I ran aground. Other than that it is a great place to stop.

Nice Marina, 2016-01-15

After 4 day trip from Bonair we were met at the fuel dock by Steve. His was very helpful and got us into a nice slip. Agree with the previous comments but would add that the fareways are very ample. Great place

awesome time green cay marina, 2015-12-23

we had a great welcome from Steve. we came in a couple of days before Christmas 2015 and was welcomed by all. the access to the resort amenities (pool, restaurants, etc) was wonderful. very comfortable place that had a Christmas customer/employee appreciation open house a couple of days before Christmas. very nice!!

Home Sweet Home, 2015-12-10
Captain: , St Croix (16)

We really like the marina and staff. We keep a cat there and have nothing but good things to say. There is always someone around to help you. Just a "Good Morning/Afternoon" away! Pool and Resturant / Bars very good! Galleon is open for dinner only. Great air conditioned spot for a nice happy hour. New deck about to be built for sunsets!

Older marina slowly being fixed up, 2015-04-29
Captain: , Hamilton (348)

We kept our cat here for 6 weeks while we returned home. This is an older maring and there are limited docks for cats - the T-ends, plus new docks on the western side of the marina, where it gets very shallow (we were stuck on the bottom with our 4'6" draft when we went to leave).

Steve in the marina office was very helpful, and others around the marina were also very helpful.

Some of the docks are in disrepair currently - they are working on fixing them up but the work appears to progress slowly. There are problems with the entry silting up and getting shallow regularly and they were dredging when we were there, so be cautious if you have a deeper draft. The shallow water also means you need to clean the bottom often too.

Showers/WCs are good. WiFi is good from either the marina or the resort. We ate at the Deep End at the resort several times and the food is good. It is a popular spot. Nice having the resort facilities right there to use.

You are a bit remote, so you need to rent a car to get into town or do provisioning. Driving in St Croix is pretty good though.

Great spot on St. Croix, 2015-03-20

Green key is one of the best marinas we have encountered down the East Coast and into the Virgin Islands. The car rental is no longer offered but the three nights for the price of two certainly was attractive. Steve in the office is very helpful, the docs are superb restaurants nearby swimming pool offered – it's all here. A very fine marina.

Liked it here, 2014-03-05

We booked 5 days, stayed 7. Our first time in St. Croix and the staff here made it special. Good instructions on avoiding the shoaling in their inlet. Fixed docks with short finger piers - backing in might be more convenient for some. Well water for washing down boat was free, potable water was not. Bathroom/shower was clean and water was hot. Three shower 'rooms' in the bathroom - shower area and separate dressing area. Nice setup. Laundry on-site, tokens for washer, quarters for dryer. No table for folding, but ladies bathroom had ironing board and iron.

Two restaurants on site, one fancy, next to marina office, the other, a beach bar, near the pool and beach. We only ate at the beach bar (The Deep End) and it was very good.

The marina is part of the Tamarind Reef Resort and marina guests have full access to resort amenities - pool, beach, kayaks, paddle boards, tennis courts, exercise equipment. The marina staff will arrange for taxi, rental car, etc. They're great!

We needed propane and groceries and as first time visitors, wanted to check out the island so we rented a car from Olympic (one of the companies recommended by marina staff). Propane is available on the south side of the island at Antilles Gas. There are several large groceries. We hit Cost-U-Less, similar to BJ's or Sam's Club without the membership, Pueblo, and Plaza Extra. For meats, we put in an order at Annaly Farms and haven't been disappointed. Also got a few bags of frozen veggies at Annaly Farms.

For boat items, there are 2 chandleries in Christiansted. One at the marina and one near it.

St. Croix doesn't have as many bays and harbors of the other Virgin Island, but is well worth a visit. And Green Cay Marina is a good place to stay. Ask about their special rates for extended stays.

We Love It!, 2014-01-31

Great protected and secure marina; can accommodate wide catamarans; reasonable rates and great deals for 3 or more nights; fuel; water; very clean showers/bathrooms; laundry facility. It is part of the Tamarind Resort, so one may use (for free) its beach, kayaks, pool, tennis courts, etc. 2 restaurants (one formal, one casual). Beautiful surroundings. Staff and dock neighbors are nice. Excellent wifi which makes for happy kids and parents!
