Reviews for Great Lakes Marina
Very Nice Marina & Harbor for a Stay or Stopover, 2016-08-24
Captain: , Mystic, CT (190)

Perfect marina to leave our boat so that we could travel east to attend Christening, visit family and personal appointments. Location well protected from adverse lake weather conditions. Stayed 2 weeks. Well maintained with park like areas for relaxation. Marina staff and boat owners super friendly and accommodating. Provisions available within a couple of miles. We rented a car from Enterprise to get around, provision and sight see. Wi-Fi a little weak on C-Dock, but manageable. Showers and laundry at the end of the dock. The marina invited us to partake in the annual customer appreciation pig roast. Good food and great time. Met quite a few loopers and marina boat owners exchange ideas, experiences and insights for traveling on Lake Michigan. USS Silversides WWII submarine and museum is a delight to tour. Well maintained and much of it still functional. Restaurants just across street. Gas, Diesel, Pumpout. Would definitely come back.

GLM restored my hope in boatyard service, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

Great Lakes Marina has restored my hope in finding great service in a boat yard again!
I thought after the horrific experience I had at Winter Harbor in Brewerton,NY, I would have to do all my service work myself.
GLM has restored my confidence in an honest, ethical, and professional boat yards service!
I had the typical oil & belt changes as well as, a new AIS system and windlass installed while we travelled back home for a few weeks.
I was given an estimate for the work before any work began, and when they finished it was actually $300 less because their supplier gave a discount on the windlass package and they passed it along!
I highly recommend Great Lakes Marina.

5-star service; 3-star transient facility, 2015-07-13
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Huge catering to seasonal slip holders. Only a handful of transient spaces. Wooden, floating docks are showing their age. Very much grass in the entire basin. Received very good service at the fuel dock for pump out and diesel. Lots of weekender traffic in this Marina and the rest of town. No wake zone? What no wake zone?

Great Dockage and Staff, 2015-03-25
Captain: , Muskegon MI (169)

Great Lakes Marina has a clearly marked (lighted and with range lights) channel where the water is plenty deep. The route to the fuel dock is marked as well. There is plenty of room for nearly any size recreational boat. There is a great service department on site and bars and resturants across the street as well as a small grocerie store where you can pick up most provisions including booze and cigars.

Wonderfull Staff and Services, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (503)

We too have been here for years and loved every moment. The previous review about Jeff, Margi, Rob, and Heidi I say double ditto. But don't forget Rick in the supply store. I needed two big batteries and he got them in real quick. The gas dock staff is great and always very helpful. They usually keep the coffee fresh and if it is old they will offer to make a fresh pot, even in the late afternoon.

Friendly Marina, 2014-10-30
Captain: , Michigan (46)

We kept our boat at GLM for the summer season and are also keeping her on the hard through winter. Staff has always been very friendly. Jeff, Margie, Heidi, Rob and everyone else have always tried to do everthing they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Wi-fi has issues but they are working on this. I have recommended this marina to several people.

Two for the Road, 2013-06-09
Captain: , Sheridan, Wyoming (40)

Great Lakes Marina did winter storage and prep for looping this year also had additional work on the boat, Graham did excellent work on new equipment. Rick in the service department took correct information and called when packages arrived. David, the service manager, and the dockmaster, Margie, are not only family to each other, but they made my wife and I feel like family that you want to be with by choice It's a long way from our home state of Wyoming, but any return will include GLM HW, the line man and Captain Sharon

They are here to serve!, 2013-04-16
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (125)

This marina has helped to ensure that we would have the slip we wanted for the season, and has been very friendly everytime we stop into the office. We are newcomers to keeping a boat in a slip, and will be living on board this year. They are making the transition easier. The floating docks are very nice, especially because of the low lake levels right now. Stay away from the rigid docks at other marinas unless you want to climb UP out of your boat and risk damage to the boat itself. The free wifi, showers, and laundry available make this one of the nicest around.

Sappi plant is closed, 2013-03-04
Captain: , muskegon (10)

The paper mill that caused the pollution and bad smells has been closed for a few years and is currantly being torn down. Waterlevels are 6-12 feet in most of marina.

Excellent Marina, 2012-12-19
Captain: , Muskegon Michigan (22)

Jeff and his crew work hard to make every boater's expereince a good one at GLM, both transienents and residents. A must stop on your way down the East side of Lake Michigan, even if for just the coney dogs at Max and Marleys Dog House at the marina :-)

Good Place to Stop, 2012-07-28
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Stopped here 7/27/12. Very nice marina. Well protected except near the entrance. Nice baths/showers. Marina provides propane grills and picnic tables. Docks are in good condition. We were tired after a long day so did not explore surrounding area. Marina gives discount to AGLCA members. Met another couple of AGLCA members who are based at this marina (including the AGLCA harbor host). Both were extremely helpful.

Good facility with pool., 2011-08-25
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Some restaurants and quick stop/liquor across the street. On trolley stop which you can take to city or Silversides WWII sub. Good narratted tour of the area. Pool is nice and friendly people. Only need 1 night to see everything. Spiders!

Careful of Paper Plant, 2009-02-08
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Watch the before stopping. If the wind is coming from the paper plant the odor is horrible.
