Reviews for The Grand Mariner Marina and Restauant
Overnight stay, 2016-10-27
Captain: , Sandusky. Ohio (10)

Stopped here for one night while we were on the Loop. Staff is friendly, and helpful. Ate at the restaurant, which was pricey, but good. They had us tie up at the gas dock and at night all their lights are on, people are walking past at all hours, or just hanging out talking. Felt a bit like a fish bowl. The dock is fixed and when the tides came in I had to pull a chair over to climb in and out of the boat. Showers were dirty in the evening and since I saw them being cleaned in the morning, I'm guessing it's more because of customers than a lack of care of staff.

Fast Gas Pit stop, 2016-09-01

Easy in and out. Located on the channel at Dog River bridge.
Fast fuel pump, friendly staff. Convenience store and more.

Limited gas supply, 2016-08-08
Captain: , New Port Richey (310)

Stopped in to fuel and eat. one stop simple right. WRONG ok started filling gas when a drunk employee (off the clock) tried to help by saying they where out of gas and we could only get 100 gallons. Only advised them when we pulled up we needed about 350 gallons. Spoke with the manager and she stated they where low and let us get 120 to even out the tanks, we stayed and went to eat. WOW 100 % turn around Great food and friendly staff. The upstairs got the stars back for the downstairs. Marina is for boaters to fuel, eat, fun times and move on.

Easy access and good people, 2016-05-09
Captain: , Huntsville (40)

I moved Blued from another marina in the area to Grand Mariner after speaking with TJ (Owner manager). We wanted to get a few non essential things fixed, added, changed. With only having a few days to spend working before we had to return home, TJ had Blued hauled within 2 days after we arrived at the marina and gave us plenty of time to get things finished before Blued was put back in. The prices are great, the people are fair and upfront about everything, and I feel comfortable leaving our boat there under their supervision while we are at home in North Alabama.

Fantastic people, truly accommodating, and a very nice little restaurant, 2016-05-01
Captain: , Corpus Christi (40)

Great people run this place and they really take pleasure in making sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their visit. Definitely worth the visit.

A great place to eat and they will come and get you., 2015-11-13
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (270)

We were staying across from the restaurant and they sent over a boat to come and get us! We found out they have moorage for transient boaters at a very competitive rate and are now a Looper Sponser. Stop and check them out.

Great Stay, 2015-11-10
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Most helpful on docks, accommodations well kept; restaurant on site was terrific; owner opened just for group of loopers! A real plus

Best of many, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Ocean Spings Mississippi (215)

I cruise the Mississippi Sound regularly and have stayed at many of the marinas in the area. Grand Mairiner is by far my favorite because of the ambiance.

Grand Mariner Restaurant is worth the stop, 2015-11-08
Captain: , Port Isabel, Texas (102)

Stayed across the river at Turners after TowBoat US escorted us in with a mechanical issue but took the dinghy across for a bite to eat. Soooo good! Their fried crab claws are famous for good reason, and their West Indies crab salad ( more like crab ceviche than a salad) is a real treat to be eaten on crackers. the list goes on. New owners are revitalizing the place and offering discounts on diesel and fees while holding to the traditions of friendly staff and great food. Next time we go through I'd like to stay there as the convenience of a full service Marina with a restaurant is a great resting spot along way. Lots and lots of Loopers coming through there. fun place to meet people, have a beverage, a great meal, and watch some Alabama football.

Management changes, easy in and out., 2014-04-25
Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

Good stop, helpful people. Good for mail drop, Barbara is there only on weekends now, Steve and Brandon are Dockmaster and assistant. Can bargain for good dockage rate and fuel prices. Cats have been thinned out. Steve lives on site, contact him at 334 488 3294 for after hours. Resturant is excellent.

When you get here your're home!!, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Cuba Landing Marina, Waverly, TN, Nashville, TN (184)

They give discounts on fuel & dockage if you are staying over night. Bigger discounts for more than one nights stay. The restaurant has very good food and is right above the fuel and transit dock. Make sure to get the laundry ready to take advantage of the wash/day prices. I don't know what made me stop here instead of across the river where since 1994 I've always stayed but my crew and boat couldn't have been in better hands as I had to fly home for a few days when life altered my cruising. I give this older marina a 3 star and the staff, service and prices a 5 star. (And thanks to Andy for his home grown flowers he brings to the ladies. They lifted my spirits.)

Came in after dark in rough seas and high winds, 2014-02-20
Captain: , Columbus OH (70)

This marina saved our bacon. We had traveled from Pass Christian expecting to stop earlier in the day. No marinas would answer the phone until we contacted Grand Mariner. They met us at the dock and helped two worn out sailors settle for the night. The restaurant upstairs served great steaks with excellent sevice. They are the "Friendly Marina"!

southern hospitality at its finest, 2014-02-12
Captain: , Sidney (10)

Stayed here for 10 days while touring around doing a bit of boat maintenance. Very friendly and helpful crew here, Brandon and Steve could not do enough to make us feel at home. Fuel prices the lowest we have found on the loop so far. Dockage also extremely competitive. The Mariner restaurant upstairs as good if not better than other seafood restaurants in mobile. We ate there at least four times.

Our #1 choice on Dog River, 2013-11-15
Captain: , Pensacola (429)

This is a family owned marina that has been our #1 choice whenever we have been transiting the Dog River area over the years. Although it has suffered from hard times in recent years, a huge effort has been made this year, in particular, to turn things around and to attract more transient boaters: competitive dockage rates (and free night with fuel purchase), matching local fuel prices, super clean restrooms, laundry area etc.

The people running the marina are all great: Barbara (owner), Steve (dockmaster) and Brandon (dockhand) could not be any more helpful and welcoming. They really do go out of their way to be accommodating.

The Mariner restaurant upstairs is an added bonus with their good food and bar area.

It is sad to see so many boaters pass this marina by -- coming in only for a pump-out before going to other nearby dockage facilities.... Yes, it is rustic -- and there are a few cats who call the marina home (which is not a bad thing!) -- but it is worth giving it a chance when visiting Dog River!

Comfortably casual, 2013-01-16
Captain: , Kelso, Wa. (834)

Extremely friendly and helpfull. Stopped for a few days, Willie helped with the lines when we pulled in and he was always there when we had a question or request. I'd give it 5 stars if the place didn't look like the last two major hurricanes had not been so rough on it.

Restaurant as good or better than the best in Mobile.

Harbor master Barbara makes the difference, 2011-07-20
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (235)

She is one of the friendliest and most helpful people we've encountered at a marina. The restaurant upstairs had excellent food and the transient dock was quiet and away from the crowd at the restaurant and fuel dock. Definitely worth a visiit!

Nice, Friendly Stop, 2011-01-13
Captain: , Grove, OK (337)

We wanted to stay here because of the restaurant on opposed to Dog River across the water. Restaurant definitely worth the stop. Friendly staff. Watch the depths coming in.

Home on the river., 2009-01-19

Grand Mariner has a friendly, homey feel. It was a nice place to leave the boat while we conducted land travels.
