Reviews for Grand Harbor Marina LLC
Lumpy but likeable, 2017-05-23
Captain: , Litte Rock (253)

Stayed here May 3-5, 2017, after coming up the Tenn-Tom. Sits on main channel from Yellow Creek to Pickwick Lake, so it gets a good amount of traffic, both recreational and commercial. You will be waked, especially if you tie up on the outside face dock. That isn't their fault. We were inside in slip beside the marina office. Good location and wakes not so bad in there. Plan to be bounced around a lot more in the summer (we kept boat at Aqua Yacht Harbor from 2004-06, so we know what it's like in that season). Very friendly staff that tries hard to please. Dockmaster Barry is goodnatured and funny, and new dockhand John is eager to please and learning fast. If you need anything, just ask. Use courtesy van for provisioning; Pickwick Supermarket is small (check expiration dates), but meat department is superb. Situated on a steep hill, so plan on a climb or two; explains why you'll see so many golf carts. Pet area is up that hill, poop bags provided. Will stay here again when we head back down to the Gulf. Wifi available (with code). We had Verizon 4G signal, 2-3 bars.
Overall: *****
Holding: N/A, but easy tie, lots of cleats, floating docks
Wind protection: **** Steep hill protects you from north wind, some exposure to south, especially if you're on the outside.
Wake protection: *** inside in a slip, * outside on the face dock
Scenery: *****
Shopping: *** use courtesy van to access small number of stores and restaurants in the area. Ship's store serves some food--hot dogs, burgers, pizza--boating supplies geared to locals' needs.

1st Class marina, 2017-01-27
Captain: , Currently living aboard and cruising the Gulf Coast (260)

First class marina all the way. The only down side is that it is virtually in thye middle of nowhere but I still give it a 5 star

The Difference Between Corporate Owned and Family Owned, 2016-12-04
Captain: , Traverse City, MI (95)

While heading south we had planned on staying at Aqua Harbor Marina which is in the same cove as Grand Harbor. The PO of our boat had stayed there as had friends. I called Aqua Harbor for a reservation and the fellow who answered said. "Well when you get here just tie up to the wall. We're outta here at 4pm off season".

I had noticed that when I checked Active Captain for Aqua there was one of those banners that screamed "Try a Sponsor, Grand Harbor Marina". So I politely told the Aqua guy I'd get back to him and called Grand Harbor. Man am I glad I did! Jeff could not have been nicer. He asked when we would arrive. He said he was there till 5 but would wait if we needed. (We didn't).

We told him the story of why we stopped there. His response, Thats the difference between corporate owned marinas and us! How right he was. Plus he gave us a van for the evening. Recommended dinner at Freddy T's which was great, Let us tie to the fuel dock for early departure and overall was super.

Advertising pays, and Active Captain Rocks! Thanks Karen Siegle and, oh yea Jeff for all you guys do to help us along the way.

Friendly and accommodating, 2016-11-23

11/22 thru 11/24/16
This was our third visit. Last year, GHM provided a great launch and return place for our Chattanooga side trip and to leave the boat for a short trip home. This year, Barry met us at the dock and got us fueled up and secured in a slip. He asked what we were interested in doing and provided information and set us up with the courtesy van for our visit to Shiloh. We missed that on our way through last year and were glad for the opportunity. It was well worth our time. Our slip was by the office, inside the fuel dock. IMPORTANT: Barry also advised us of an underwater jetty that is just west of the fuel dock. He cautioned to exit south, parallel to the fuel dock, and NOT to exit to the west when leaving this part of the marina.
After Shiloh, we went to Hagy's Catfish Hotel for lunch. It was good!

Wonderful Historic Stop!, 2016-11-10
Captain: , Burnt Store Marina (20)

Barry, the Harbormaster has things so well organized for transients to travel to Shiloh Battlefield by their courtesy van. ...Including a CD battlefield tour and maps! There is a shuttle van for Freddy T's Restaurant which is a fun place to go! Otherwise, groceries and other restaurants are about 20-30 min. away! Really a pretty, clean, modern place to stay with terrific dock hands.

Very helpful friendly place., 2016-10-29
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

Brian and Jeff do all they can to make it a pleasant stay. Loaner cars make shopping, dinning, or even sightseeing a wonderful experience. Top that off with a 25 cent/gal fuel discount for loopers (better than a "rubber chicken dinner") and this place is great.

Great Stop, 2016-10-23
Captain: , Chicago (630)

Barry was was so helpful during our stay. He collected a number of packages for us, disposed of an old anchor, gave us a fabulous restaurant recommendation in nearby Corinth (Smith!), and loaned us a copy of the audio tour for Shiloh. The courtesy cars were readily available for our use. My girls swam in the pool both days we were there despite the weather being chilly. But my favorite thing about Grand Harbor was the laminated list of all locks and marinas from Grand Harbor all the way to the Gulf. It is priceless. It saves so much time flipping through charts and looking online. Just a quick reference with mile markers, phone numbers, etc. Thank you Barry! My only complaint is the workout room. All machines but one wouldn't turn on. Nothing to do with the marina but thought I'd mention since it was listed as an amenity.

A must stop., 2016-10-22
Captain: , Portsmouth (553)

We rented a car and drove to Memphis, Marina has several courtesy cars that can get you Enterprise 30 minutes away. Marina staff extremely friendly. Facilities are well kept and clean. One drawback was only one shower in bathroom. Great Marina store. Freddy T's restaurant will come get you if no cars are available. Large pool and party area on site that we used for a Looper party. Really enjoyed this stop!

Enjoyed October Looper discount, 2016-10-04
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

Agree with other reviews. Would add, it has a very convenient laundry and fun ships store. Just steps from the transient slips. Shiloh is a must see.

Great place, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (320)

Staying here for three days. Nice floating docks. Met at dock by Barry, the dockmaster who was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Used the newish and air conditioned courtesy van to go to dinner and then tour Shiloh the next morning. Clean air conditioned rest rooms and showers (single shower - more up by condominiums). Plan to return in a couple of weeks after a side trip to Chattanooga and then the AGLCA rendevous.

Captain: , Milwaukee, Wi. (798)

Very nice place to stay.... has pool at the resort you can use, strong WiFi and two courtsey cars. Take a drive to Historic Shiloh.... Manager appreciates your overall length mainly when it's busy here and he's trying to fit everyone in.....

5 star stop, 2016-08-09
Captain: , New Port Richey (310)

Fuel in and out, made small craft move so we could get in. Great team. Thanks

Excellent Ship's Store, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Oshkosh, WI (212)

We agree with the other reviews - excellent place to stay. One thing to add - excellent ship's store. Very friendly helpful staff.

Terrific spot, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

This is one of the go to spots on the Loop and I can see why. Facility was very nice, help was terrific, good service all around. Bathrooms and laundry were not the best -- but not to the point of loosing points. Went to Shiloh battlefield with the loaner car -- which was a great tour. Enjoyed this place so much that I bought a shirt with it's name on it -- something I rarely do. Good fuel prices, good wifi and a wonderful front dock porch for docktails.

Good Stop Before Tennessee-Tombigbee, 2015-11-08
Captain: , Fort Monroe, VA (949)

Barry and Jeff were on the dock to secure lines and help sort out the power and water. Stayed on one of the many fuel docks near the ship store. Marina is installing a new wave wall to cut down on the wakes from passing boats and it has reduced the bouncing. Courtsey car was a plus, as the nearest brand name grocery was a 30 minute drive to Corinth. I had good WIFI and 50A power. Diesel fuel prices were competitive with nearby marinas. Staff and night security was always freindly and helpful. No on site maintenance or travel lift brought them down a star.

Good crew but I don't get the 5 star thing, 2015-10-27
Captain: , Beaver Island, MI (291)

Ok, it's a nice marina but it's not a great stop. There is nothing there and nothing within walking distance. Even (as mentioned before) to take your dog for a walk one must cover about 3/4 of a mile round trip to get to the "dog area". Staff are great and they have fuels and pump out but for me it's a one night stop at best
Also the "no wake" only covers an area about 400ft from the dock. the actual river is open game for speed and wake and you can really get rolled at the dock

What a great marina, 2015-10-16
Captain: , Racine, WI (371)

We really enjoy the hospitality at Grand Harbor, Barry is the best. Good rates with a Looper Discount, Fuel discount in October, clean restrooms and an available courtesy car.

Great stop highly recommended, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Two courtesy cars. We used courtesy car to drive to Enterprise then rented a car and spent two days in Memphis. Memphis is a must visit. Beale St, Sun Records, St Jude's, ML King memorial, neat downtown all great to see, best is a visit to Graceland, Elvis's home, need 4 + hrs for a visit. Best bet is to stay in downtown Memphis near Beale St and drive to Graceland. You can stay at Graceland but recommend staying near Beale St downtown.
Freddie's T's is an excellent restaurant near Grand Harbor. Can use courtesy car to get there from Marina or call a shuttle after hrs and give the driver a nice tip as he works only for tips. Be sure to take home a $5.99 cheese cake for breakfast and have another for dinner.
Very good ships store at Marina, beautiful setting on Tom Bigbee.
Fuel $2.53/gal lowest of our loop.
Very helpful staff. Only negative is that the Marina Owner parked his 106 ft yacht right on the fuel dock effectively blocking all but one spot on the dock. Seemed like a very dumb and selfish move by the Marina owner, made getting fuel a hassle.

We really enjoyed this stop., 2015-09-21
Captain: , Illinois (2471)

All the previous good comments are true and meeting Barry, John and Annie was a real treat!
They assisted us with our needs and were a great resource with our questions.
Our next visit will be longer!
Thanks to all!

Wifi access only downside, 2015-06-27
Captain: , charleston (771)

Terrible access for wifi. Other than that great marina. Brutal heat wave caused us to ask for a covered slip. Dock master was nice enough to accomodate our request. Much nicer than the transient dock. Right on the river with "front porch" view of the river and nature across the way. All of these slips have table & chairs, rugs on dock, etc. Mostliy for liveaboards. Closer to showers, laundry, etc. than transient dock.

Nice stop, friendly staff, 2015-02-08
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3163)

Stayed here on Oct 24th. Friendly and helpful staff. Used Courtesy car to get groceries. Showers nice and used nice laundry room. Decent ships store.

We really liked this stop., 2014-11-08
Captain: , LeClaire, Iowa (449)

We stayed here October 25, 2014. Barry, the dockmaster, helped us land, saw that we got our fuel and the looper discount, and helped us to our slip behind the marina store. The slip was protected from the wake of the boat traffic going by in the channel because we were behind the store. The restooms and showers were right there at the back of the store. Allthough there was only one shower per restroom they were very well laid out with hooks in the right places, a bench to put your stuff on, and a molded seat in the shower. The trip up to the courtesy car is quite a walk, but we did not mind since we needed the exercise. If you have a dog on board, take bags with you - your dog may not make it before having to relieve himself. Our only disappointment was that they would not give us a receipt for our pumpout, which we save in case we are ever asked for them by marine police or coastguard. Their reasoning was that they don't charge for the pumpout so should not issue a receipt. There are a couple of local markets and restaurants on the highway three - six miles from the marina. All-in-all, a very good stop.

A Super Great Loop Stop, 2014-11-07
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1394)

We limped to Grand Harbor from Clifton, TN with a failed coolant pump. 8 Hours of stress. Great Harbor put us on one of their fuel slips and Wes did a great job receiving the dock lines and we fueled up the next morning. Just being able to kick back on a Glider right in front of our slip was soooo relaxing. AGLCA Member Price on Diesel was super. We took 270 Gal. We did not have to move the boat, what a relief. We spent four nights and Jeff Droke the GM And Wes were super accomodating. Jeff made sure our new pump was carried to the boat the moment it arrive by FedEx. They provided containers and took the old coolant away. The use of their courtesy van for provisions and a Hardware store run for new bolts for the pump was a life saver. The Grand Harbor Marina and staff are the best in the business. It was a tough place to leave. Thank you Grand Harbor. Capt Helen and Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ! AGLCA, MTOA, USPS, USCG-ARC

We had a great two day stay, 2014-10-29
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

Love the marina. We were in one of their 5 fuel slips that was wonderful. We got to tie up and then get a fuel load and pumped out without moving. Nice deal.

We used the marina car to go to the Rooftop for lunch day one and then to Shilo on day 2.

There is a regular shuttle that runs from the marina to Freddy T's for dinner.

Nice store, clean restrooms, shower with a seat. Plus they have T-Shirts with the Great Loop map on the back for $16.

But the highpoint for us was the dockside gliders with tables. Nice place for docktails. Pro tip, the ends fold down, so us "larger than life types" can get in and out.

Perfect stop. S/V Notre' Vie, 2014-10-17
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (100)

A true first class stop. Top notch and professional, Wes on the fuel dock is awesome. Perfect place to stop for the night or two. Great restrooms and showers, very clean. 24 hour on site security. Great wi-fi.

Friendly but no so pet friendly, 2014-10-15
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

This is a large marina with a lot of ammenities, however, we have an older dog and to get from the trancient docks to the shore area designated for pets is a very long walk. We made it but we saw others that didn't. The dock attendants new that it was a long distance trek for both dog and owner and were sympethic but not a lot they could do.
If you have a dog and need to walk, plan ahead. There is a small county road beyond the swimming pool that allows for a longer walk.
Fuel prices were good with a discount for AGLCA members that were passing through.
We had planned to stay longer but my wife and I both agreed that it just didn't feel right for us.

Very nice stay, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

Stayed 10-1 through 10-6. A great marina with excellant staff. Nice ships store and clean restrooms. 2 courtesy cars and pick up drop off transport to Freddy T's a local seafood restaurant.

Really Nice, 2014-08-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

Excellent marina, we stayed right behind the ships store never rocked a bit. Gas was $4.04 on 8/15/12 before any discounts. We used their clean courtesy car, to tour the Shiloh Battlefield for the price of gas used. You can't beat that anywhere. We did some shopping at Freds about the best around there is not a Wal-Mart in sight. Try the Catfish Hotel about 30 minutes from the marina, great food but be prepared for large helpings. We will stay here again when we pass through in September.

Capt. Frank

One of the nicest place on the inland waters., 2014-08-20
Captain: , Paducah KY (183)

Staff and the view are excellent. Only downside, rude boaters that don't seem to understand no wake zone in front of marina. It can get pretty rolly on the weekends.

This is a First Rate Marina, 2014-07-19
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (270)

Barry, Harbor Master, and his staff are friendly and helpful. Spotless showers, nice laundry, well-stocked store, immaculate courtesy van, beautiful pool, weekend spa with any service you might desire, and I know not where to cease. Nearby is Nuevo Vallarta, a fantastic restaurant run by a family and the prices were unbelieveablly inexpensive and we were there for dinner. We happened upon The Out Post on Hwy 57 just east of the Pickwick dam and this is a must stop!!! Read about it on Trip Advisor. Made us think we were in the NC mountains. Be sure to have your meal on the glassed in back porch. Meal service begins with breakfast. Counce's Grand Harbor is excellent and we look forward to staying there again.

Great Marina BUT - 2nd visit, 2014-06-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

2nd visit - Still a great marina 8 months after the first visit. But still tough on the weekends and still a long walk to the parking lot. First visit -No question this marina has great facilities. Floating docks, great staff, friend boaters BUT on the weekends the wakes will bounce you around. This main waterway passes right by the marina. There are no wakes bouys that extend half way out into the channel, but you can run wide open beyond them. This makes lots of wakes at the gas docks. BE CAREFUL here on the weekends as they are a lot of small boat owners and teenagers who don't know inland waterway rules or courtesies. Stop here for fuel. Best prices around.

maybe it was an off day, 2014-06-02
Captain: , Burnt Store, FL (489)

We have stopped here several times, with very good results and kind hospitality. The dock folks are still the charming, pretty young people, but we found them a bit clueless this time.

No one responded to our radio calls, they had no idea where our assigned slip was in the marina, no typical data sheet with wifi, TV channels, etc was available, the desk was overrun servicing boAt rental demands. Finally, the fuel prices were far from the lowest in the region.

Maybe they had a bad day.

Excellent stop, 2013-10-26
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

stayed 1 night and received excellent service and dockage. Nice ship's store and staff very helpful in getting you to local restaurants with courtesy shuttle.

Quality Marina, 2013-10-26
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

Grand Harbor Marina is a beautiful marina with nice wide floating docks, friendly staff, and all the amenities you would expect from a quality marina. They even have an on site spa! The grounds are lovely with lots of places to walk dogs. In the transient slip we were in we could even fuel up right from the slip.

There are no restaurants or shopping nearby but they provide 3 courtesy vans allowing you to reprovision and eat out as you wish. It's a relaxing atmosphere where you'll want to stay a while.

Excellent Customer Service, 2013-10-25
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Called at the last minute to get a tranist slip and told them it would be after 1700 when I arrive. Arrived at 1730 and staff was waiting for me. Assisted in tie up, got me fueled up and were active in meeting my needs. Great Customer service. Very clean facilities. Stop here if in the area.

Grand Harbor Marina, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

This is a great facility but management is disorganized. We made a reservation but were placed on a face dock on the river side of the fuel dock. We had to move twice so that boats could get fuel or pump out. Other boats who arrived after us were given interior slips.
I should have gone to Aqua Yacht Harbor a few miles further down the Tenn-Tom.

Enjoyed stay at Grand Harbor, 2013-10-21

Captain: , Fort Smith Arkansas (131)

Well maintained full service facility. Well stocked store on dock, nice shower/restroom facility, good cell service. Nice surroundings. Courtesy car. Several restaurants within 5 miles or so, plus one at the adjoining condo/time share operation. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.

nice stop very friendly., 2013-10-17
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

We stayed one night on the way back from Chattanooga. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenience store on dock, free coffee, clean showers and courtesy car available. A great stop while traveling on tn river or before or after transiting the ten-Tom

Everything You Need Nearby, 2013-10-10
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (554)

We stayed Oct. 5 & 6, 2013 with other Loopers on the transient docks, that are just inside from the fuel docks. The marina is extremely Looper friendly with a discount on fuel and low docking rates. We didn't have a wake problem even though we were the closest boat on the transient dock to the waterway. Although there isn't a nearby restaurant, the marina has courtesy cars to go to town to eat or provision and even has hot pizza and hot dogs off season in its ships store. (In season, it has a short-order grill.) The store itself has a large selection of boating necessities and gift items. The shower and restrooms are nice enough and very clean when we were there. The staff was very accommodating.

Great first stop on Pickwick, 2013-10-04
Captain: , Burnt Store Marina (70)

We just stayed here 4 nights and the place and the staff were great. Facilities were immaculate, great grocery store (Krogers) about 20 minutes away using one of the three, nice courtesy cars. Close to Shiloh Battlefield (of interest if the government isn't shut down as it was yesterday when we tried to visit), Aglca discounts on dockage and fuel - big sign saying "Welcome Loopers." Marine store is well stocked, spa is open weekends in the fall - best marina after Green Turtle.

Posh 7-story condo out in no where, no restaurant on premises, with night guard on duty. Lots of boats for sale, possibly with condo included. Found bathrooms needing attention -- told that was from the week-end crowd. Complaint booked.

Fuel Information, 2012-11-20
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

As of 11/17/2012 Grand Harbor fuel was on a BoatUS discount scale...more fuel bought - bigger discounts. We stayed at Aqua ($4.25 gal. with .05 BoatUS discount) and came to Greand Harbor for fuel. Grand Harbor - $4.08 per gal. normal. We paid $3.88 for 400 gals.

Great Marina, 2012-11-12
Captain: , Sarnia, ON (330)

Deluxe Marina with exceptionally friendly staff, 2012-11-04
Captain: , Acworth, GA (225)

This marina is everything it says it is and more. Three NEW courtesy cars and unlimited use of one for the day for only the price of gas used. We went to a new WalMart in Savannah TN for fresh groceries and to the Shiloh battlefield for a sobering history lesson. This is a must stop marina if you are on the Loop or just traveling on the Tenn-Tom or Tennessee river. You really need a car to get to anything as it is very hilly and a 3 mile plus walk to the closest grocery or restaurant. If on bikes, you will probably need a mountain bike with big gears for climbing some of the hills. Some restaurants will pick you up and bring you back if all the marina vehicles are gone, but you can probably share a ride with another boater or one of the locals on the dock. VERY friendly folks on the dock and at the marina. If I lived in this area, I would certainly keep my boat here.

A wonderful facility with a MAJOR problem, 2012-07-21
Captain: , jackson, TN (884)

This marina has everything going for it. Nice facilities, nice people, courtsey car, good fuel prices, clean bathrooms, etc. Unfortunately, they have a MAJOR wake problem from the discourteous boaters in the area. While they put us "inside" for the night, we rocked and rolled badly to the point where even the satelite TV could not keep up with the motion. The TWRA (Tenn. version of DNR or Water Police) were no where to be found. A 40' power boat went by and threw a 4 to 5 foot wake into the marina. I hailed him on the VHF and he told me to F--- off. What a shame to have a lovely faciltiy totally ruined by jerks who can't slow down for two minutes while passing. I am ashamed of Tenn. , my home state, for having some of the worst boaters in the country. Damn shame !

Do NOT stay here on a weekend. During the week, take your chances.

Excellent Marina, 2012-02-06
Captain: , Marietta, GA (260)

Excellent marina. Transient dock very conveniently located at fuel dock (fueled at our slip). Courtesy car available to us entire time. Barry helped us tie up and was helpful and friendly. Laundry available. Did not use it, but spa available on site. Shiloh Battlefield is neat stop and close by (used the courtesy car). Great stop.

We broke down and were towed here. The folks were so accomodating. The facilities are all sparkling clean and neat. More fuel hoses than I have ever seen anywhere. The marina staff are friendly and professional and very helpful. The docks are immaculate. This is a great place to relax or to jump off from up Pickwick Lake or down the Tenn-Tom.

Nice docks, great coutesy car, 2011-11-16
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Stayed three nights. Nice docks with solid cleats. Docks are exposed to wind from all directions except off shore. Dock staff very helpful. New courtesy cars, best way to visit Shiloh, Savanah, or area restaurants. You will need car for shopping, nothing close enough to walk, very hilly. Bring your own dog poop bags, they didn't refill theirs while we stayed.

Newer Marina, We were told they lowered dockage rates so they don't honor Boat U.S. discount.

Good facility with great amenities. Courtesy car to go out for dinner; nothing on premise. Probably the most modern marina we have seen on the inland waters. Stayed there twice in 2011; its one of our favorite stops.

Grand Harbor Marina, 2011-10-22

Great marina with very nice staff. Good slips and face dock available. Some wake from the river...not too bad if you're on the inside. Three courtesy cars available - good place to provision. Fuel prices little high...but they give discounts for loopers and BoatUS.

Captain: , Annapolis, MD (343)

After waiting for the Pickwick Landing lock for 6 1/2 hours, it was well past closing and dark when we arrived with 4 other boats. We were unfamiliar with the marina, but a staff member stayed late and expertly guided us all to our berths. A job well done and we will visit again

Dockmaster should thank security, 2011-06-01
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (245)

First, this is a great high-end condo + marina development with first class facilities. They even have a sales pitch on a loop on the flatscreen TV in the shower area!

The dockmaster stays about 15 minutes after closing because we called ahead and sells fuel, rents a slip, and is very conversational and friendly. All good things. Then he locks up and we walk back to our boats (two of us) to hook up and get the A/C going.

We get to the hookup and discover they are all 240 and we can't use them. After a long hot day on the river (Memorial Day weekend), this is not what we want to see and our pleasant attitudes sour quickly and we call security.

The on-duty security guy quickly deals with the problem by going to the closed store, opening it, and picking up a pig tale connector that was laying 3' from the cash register where 20 minutes before the laughing dockmaster had taken our money. He apologized profusely for the inconvenience and stayed to make sure our boats were connected and working.

Bonus points to the security guy - time in the penalty box for the dockmaster!

Great marina with covered slips for all except transients and you may get one anyway. Moored my boat at a nearby marina outside and while the people there were nice, they could not get me a covered slip so I moved reluctantly to Grand Harbor and after arriving, wished I had come here first. Very happy here. Finished the great loop, but am revisiting this area and there is lots of good cruising on the Tennessee.

Grand Harbor Marina appreciates all information provided in "reviews". Good reviews rewards us for our on going efforts to provide good service to our customers. Constructive criticism alerts us to problems that need attention, be a problem in the past or at present. Our free WiFi for transient boaters has been up graded now using Eagle One, and it appears to be a better service with additional hot spots. Thank-you Mike and Tammy for your valuable input and we look forward to your return visit in the future.........

Overall good, but the wifi was out while we were there and the staff had no interest in fixing it (we had called ahead because we needed internet access and chose them because of it).

Update: After submitting this review, I was contacted and felt an update and clarification would be in order. Our stop was in the fall of 2007 and may not apply anymore. Below is the response I sent:

While I appreciate the offer, I wasn't trying to for a free slip. Not to mention it will be at least 2 years before we make it that far around (we are doing the loop on a leasurly time frame and to eventually expect to find our way south again). We were there around thanksgiving 2007 for 3 or 4 days. As stated in the review, overall we thought it was a good marina. I supose I should have written a little more about the good aspects. The facilities were well maintained, it was nice to have a courtesy car (clean and well maintained at that). Our delema with the wi-fi stems from the fact that we are working while traveling. From Kentucky Lake south to Mobile, the cell service was spotty so we were reliant on good wi-fi (as opposed to our broad band card). We started calling ahead to check on wi-fi and were told they had it. When it didn't work we talked to the staff. They were pleasant, said all the right things and then nothing happened. I would consider stopping at Grand Harbor the next time thru, but I would pay for one night and then see how things are working before signing up for more. This is a trick we've pickup in general for marinas. Don't sign up for more than a night until we get there and decide we like it.

This is one of the finest marina anywhere. Only problem is in the summer months it gets waked a lot by boaters from other marinas. The very good staff makes this fine marina even better.
Wireless internet available.
The quickest marine service is by calling Boatronix or Lee Spry.

Has internet access.***
Other large marina in area did not from at least Nov 05 till June 06. Still doesn't advertise that they do.
Visited looping friends during 2 month stay at Aqua, stayed 1 night on trip down Tenn- liked Grand Harbor.
Would come over from other marina and sit on porch to use

Service people come over from Aqua. Probably should go there if problems.
