Reviews for Gorge Harbour Marina Resort

Bill and his friendly staff run an awesome marina. The cleanliness and overall standard of service is exemplary. The shop, managed by Pamela, is well stocked with fresh produce and a wide range of products. Laundry and washrooms were spotless. The restaurant is open Fri and Sat eve and for Sun Brunch (now its out of season). We went for brunch and its was excellent value. All in all a great place to spend the night or to keep your boat alongside for the Winter, which we decided to do after experiencing the relaxed but professional teamwork of Bill and his staff. The pool, hot tub, firepits, bar-b-q areas, games areas make this one of the best marinas we have ever stayed in.

They should rename it Gorgeous Harbor, 2016-08-01

To begin with the dock staff was very helpful with docking and tying off. Oh and did I say friendly too. The grounds were impeccably clean and well groomed. They literally pick up every leaf that has fallen the night before; it was like walking in a park. They have nice flat places to have a picnic or places just to relax. The grocery store seemed well stocked for it%u2019s location even though the beer was a bit pricy! The showers could be updated but I will say that I found nice to have a rug under your feet instead of concrete when you stepped out.

Absolutely Fabulous!, 2016-07-24

One of the finest marina/resorts in the PNW, guth up there with Roche Harbor.

We were here the end of June 2016. Very friendly and accomodating staff, lots of help with line-handling (not that it was needed as everything is wide open), good provisioining, and a very good restaurant.

A note on the restaurant - they have the best clam chowder I've ever had. It is made more like a Hungarian mushroom soup base - YUMM!

The docks and facilities are spotless with water and 50A 250V power readily available.

The only knock was that WIFI and Cell Coverage are very poor (but if that is what you require, then keep further south).

One of the Best Marina's in the PNW !!, 2016-06-23
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (10)

Great dock facilities and very friendly staff . A total redo to the marina and grounds. Beautiful gardens , 2 grills with tables and benches for quests , outdoor stone fireplace close to waters edge , pool , hot tub , great restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating , well stocked general store and garden's in full bloom. Lots of room to swing at anchor if marina is full during peak summer months. Many handrails in the walkways have been varnished. Pride of " Marinaship " is quite evident.

Worth the visit, 2015-07-31

One of the best resorts in the Northwest. Everything upgraded and improved. We were part of a 37 boat flotilla
and no complaints from anyone.

nice place to take a break, but...declining?, 2014-09-17

Stayed here a couple of times now over the span of several years - generally a great place, but pricey moorage. Facillities can not be beat, and include a store, good washrooms and showers, great laundry facilities, a pool, a hot tub and a restaraunt.

This last year we found the dock crew had messed up several reservations. but after a few tense momenst, they made it all work. They were a litle less jovial this year, and seemed to facilitate complaints from boaters (towards other boaters) that resulted in "written warnings" - when that action really was not requird. Perhpas a lack of on-site experienced leadersip/manegement? not sure.

Restaraunt has high prices, and this year failed badly in the reservation department, in the food department, and in the service department . not at all recomended. Too bad - they have a phenominal location and even better potential - here's hoping they make some changes.

We'l be back next year - but if next year is like this year, we'll find another port...

2014 UPDATE.. stayed again - found staff to be less friendly/helpfull, but facilities were still top notch. Washrooms were closed for cleaning during the day - seems guests are becoming an inconvenience. Restaurant experience mirrored last years - horrible service, mediocre food, exorbant prices - won't be going to eat there agian

Upscale in Desolation, 2013-09-18
Captain: , Daniel Island, SC (310)

A well protected harbor through a narrow, but current-free opening. Excellent restauarant and store. The docking system is the best, most modern, in the region. Dock hands seemed a bit preoccupied and not as attentive as we expected for a property of this high quality.

Beautiful Marina, 2013-08-01
Captain: , Idaho (20)

Stopped here twice on our recent trip. (7/2013) Seems to be a popular stopping place, full both times. The dock help is great. Friendly, and always ready to lend a hand, catching a line or just to answer a question. The grounds and docks are quite attractive. Well stocked grocery. Clean showers and laundry. Wifi works great. Pool and hot tub are and added bonus. Will most definately be back to visit again.

Very Nice Marina, 2013-01-20
Captain: , Seattle (690)

We stopped on the way north and enjoyed it enough to stop in on the way back. Well maintained docks, very nice pool, good (but not great) restaraunt, well-stocked store, and an open air market on one of the days that we were there. Moorage is pricey, but don't be tempted to "underestimate" your LOA. They walk it off with a measuring wheel. That was the source of some dockside entertainment.

Good stop or destination, 2011-06-30

Everything previous comments stated are still true. Seems to be a very popular destination. Docks are really nice. Restaurant is good, but not 5 star .

a fist class stop, 2010-12-24
Captain: , Sequim, WA (676)

Always a friendly face greeting you on the dock. The restaurant is first class besides being about the only one in the Desolation area. The store is well stocked. The roads of Cortes Island are great for getting off the boat and walking.

Quality establishment., 2010-08-02
Captain: , Powell River (89)

The whole family including kids and dog loved stopping over. Store is stocked with quality foods at reasonable prices. Live music at the fireplace. Pool was a big hit. Resort is clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Grounds are beautiful. Be sure to get to the store at 08:30 for fresh baked muffins, bread, and cinnimon buns.

First class in every respect, 2010-07-13
Captain: , St. George Island, FL (102)

New concrete docks; good dockside electric and water; new swimming pool; good showers and heads ashore; excellent restaurant. Accepts boats up to 85 feet maybe more; totally helpful and welcoming to all sizes. Hands on owners have turned this marina into a no regrets stop.

Anchorage, 2009-11-30

Good anchorage. Can be on either side of bay depending on any strong winds. Store carries most staples.

I have never tied up here but often anchored off. The store is well-stocked, and the nearby restaurant is highly-rated. Garbage can be left for a small fee. Petroglyphs are rumored to be on the rock face of the gorge entrance. I like the anchorage very much. The mud seems to hold well, even in a gale. No waves or swell.
