Reviews for Gore Bay Marina
Lazy staff. They don't care, 2016-08-29
Captain: , Greenport, NY (356)

Endish if the season. Not the A team. We called ahead to ask about fuel and dockage. No return call. When we arrived, they had trouble tying our boat at the fuel dock. We bought $1200 of fuel. They spilled fuel on or teak deck. No apology. No help with what is available in the community.

In moving to a slip, no help tying up.

They may have low fuel prices Canadian but they have terrible service.

Docks have gull poop all over them. Some nut fired a flare to clear the gulls and the burning flare landed by our boat.

The only reason they are not a one is that the wifi is pretty good.

Great place to stop, 2016-08-27
Captain: , Bedford, NH (625)

Stayed one night, Aug 14. Very nice marina. Great docks. Nice little town but we were there on a Sunday and most restaurants were closed. Had a good meal at the only one open, a short walk from marina. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment and didn't purchase fuel. Beautiful area with scenic views and very protected. We are a 50' vessel with 15' beam and 3 1/2' draft. Plenty of water and very easy access.

A very nice stop and marina, 2016-07-19
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2465)

The Harbour Master, Lee, was quite helpful. We were happily anchored but a nasty squall on its way scared us into the marina. We enjoyed the little town, especially the Harbour Centre and the art galleries. The washrooms/showers are very nice. Yes, the office can be a pretty far walk. Fuel was some of the cheapest around the North Channel.

Very nice docks and staff. Showerhouse have very nice clean individual shower/restrooms in a newer building with a nice looking laundry. They are extending the breakwall which will make the marina smoother in a north wind.

Stop here .. first rate, 2015-08-23

I liked Gore Bay.. and its friendly help and stores

Huge marina First Class, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Ourtstanding marina in all aspects excluding the very long distance to walk to land. It's truly a haul to get to the marina office so plan ahead so you don't have to go back to office twice. Wifi worked mediocre.

Nice docks, clean restrooms, close to town, 2014-08-11
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Dock staff answered on VHF right away, met us at our slip to ehlp with the lines. Clean restrooms, large ship's store nearby at Canadian Yacht Charters. Good provisioning town with fully stocked grocery store. Several restaurants in town. Expect a visit from Canadian Customs.

Super Stop, 2014-08-09
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

This has had to be one of the nicest stops we have had in the North Channel. The place is all spanking brand new condition. Docks are Very wide. Rest Room & Showers on the hill not far. Very Clean and immaculatley Kept and big individual rooms.. Dock Master Lee was very helpful. Nice ships store and although town was small it was interesting and we had a good lunch. Helen walked to the Light house 7 miles round trip for her exercise. We highly recommend Gore Bay Marina. You could also anchor out in the bay. Five boats were in anchorage. Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ!

Nice protected stop., 2014-07-30
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

Newer docks, nice showers although a hike. Ships store on site. Grocery, hardware and LCBO just a short walk away. Several restaurants in town also.

Good Reprovisioning Port in Western North Channel, 2014-07-28
Captain: , Harrison Township - MacRay Harbor (31)

This was our first trip to Gore Bay Marina and due to weather decided to stay the night. Both the Marina and the boat supply store Canadian Yacht Charters were very freindly and helpful.
There is a large and well stocked Grocery store with-in easy walking distance to the marina with fresh produce, meats and staples.
There are three resturants in town, we choose to eat at Buoys Eatery. They have good Pizza.
Bathroom and shower facilites are similar to most North Channel Marinas, and we found them to be clean and open which was nice.

If you need a Marina for shelter, or a port to reprovision in, this is a good location.

NOTE - do not anchor in bay if there is a northly wind, this is the direction that is exposed and not protected.

Very nice stop. Docks are quality and huge. Great chandlery. I enjoyed walking around the boat yard and exploring the collection of "once and future" passagemakers.

Larger Marina, 2013-10-15
Captain: , Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH (300)

Good services, great location, but you really should be anchoring in this beautiful area.

Beautiful location, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Cheboygan (426)

This is my 2nd trip here, because I really liked it last year. The marina has nice wide docks, lots of big boats here, but the dock office and showers are quite far from most of the docks. Not the fault of the facility, but on a hot, breezeless day it's a very "long" walk. Lots of dock staff and easy to identify in their red shirts.

Great docks! Small, quaint town, great marina facility.

Very pretty! Good restaurants.

Very nice marina, 2012-08-12
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1696)

Stayed here nine nights while waiting for favorable weather pattern to be able to make multiple hops back to US. The docks are superb...very new, sturdy, wide docks, VERY wide slips, wide thoroughfares. Shore side amenities are excellent...showers, bathrooms, chandlery, stores, restaurants. All within very easy walking distance.
The period we were here it was very windy and we were on one of their outside slips. With strong north winds we got rocked. So if foul weather is coming from the north go to an inside slip.
They have a very favorable weekly rate. Not a whole heck of a lot to do in the village itself unless you have a car or bikes. Gore Bay town has grocery, pharmacy, LCBO, hardware, sundries, etc.

This is an excellent marina with very good amenities.

Wonderful facilities, good ship's store, helpful staff. Town is a short walk with good provisioning available.

Well kept marina recently refurbished, 2011-10-15
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

Facilities were as described in other reviews. We were boarded by Canadian Customs/Immigration while tied up for a spot check. We did fine, but our neighbors were fined $1000 for some unspecified offense.

Pleasant stop with neaby shopping & restaurants, 2011-08-17
Captain: , Bay City, MI (609)

New docks with a chandlery nearby. Canada Yacht Charters base is at Gore Bay Marina. Grocery store and LCBO and a few restaurants. Good travel stop.

Great place to stop, 2011-07-31
Captain: , Jeffersonville, IN (582)

This is a great place to spend a night or two. The docks are some of the finest (wide and strong) I have ever used. The harbor has a very nice ship's store with supplies, repair parts, accessories and even souvenier items. There are nice showers, beach, overlook and multiple restaurants. You can't go wrong here.

Nice marina, 2011-07-20
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (384)

Nice wide newer docks. Nice facilities and seems new as well. Dockhands everywhere sprucing things up. Internet has a fee but is fast.

Nice docks, competent dock master, 2011-07-20
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Info on town is lacking at docks. Restaurant/ice cream at round pavilion. Board walk is very nice, it breaks in several places, continues after apartment building through swamp. Great hardware store.

Excellent docks. Normally there are transient docks available. There is a ship's store nearby with mechanical help available. Walking distance to town with good provisioning and restaurants.

New docks with decent shower facilities. Staff at CYC are fantastic. Good local grocery store 1/2 mi away with fresh produce for provisioning (they will let you take the cart). Free internet access at the Library (donations appreciated). Loco Beans for great coffee (also in Little Current).

Gore Bay Marina, 2010-12-12

Easy to get to, service is friendly. Harbour Master keeps track of everyone waiting for fuel or needing a slip. Everything was clean with nothing to trip over.

Very well protected. Easy walk to town to get supplies (10 mins each way).

This is a good stop, 2010-09-04

Captain: , Palm Coast (792)

The docks are new and spacious. 30 and 50 amp. No wi-fi. The washroom has not yet been updated. The marina office is a longer walk than the town. Staff is very helpful. Town offers all needs but limited dining. Marina store is part of Canadian Yacht Charters and well stocked.
