Reviews for Goose Pond Marina
Friendly rural marina, 2016-10-03
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (230)

Great help docking; low diesel prices; good docks, showers and good laundry with 2 washers and 4 dryers. Courtesy car. Not much around marina so need car to go to town. Several of the local boaters from the marina including AGLCA Harbor Hosts, Patsy and Ray, stopped by to say hello and to see if there was anything we could do. Very helpful and knowledgeable dockmaster, Steve. Plan to come back on our return from Chattanooga.

Great overnight stay, 2016-09-02
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (41)

We traveled from Chattanooga to Goosepond for one evening this weekend to gain experience with longer trips. Having only stayed at one other marina (Hales Bar), we do not have a lot to compare it to, but it was SOOOO much better. Agree with what everyone else said about the weeds causing a misread on the depth finder upon entry....we did not have any issues with our 29' cruiser. It was exteremely hot, and we had a dog, so the first thing we did was head over to the beach area across the parking lot. I would not say the beach was very clean, but it was nice to get in and swim with the dog. They also have a pool, 2 golf courses and kayak rental if interested. Had dinner at The Docks. Food was better than I expected. It was VERY crowded so I was glad we had a reservation. Fuel was $3.45, and we got water at the slip....had to borrow a hose from the fuel dock though. Fuel dock said t would open at 7 am on Sunday, but we did not see anyone around until close to 9 am. Had breakfast at the bait and tackle shop. Basic egg sandwiches, but it was fine. No real supplies there though unless you are looking for fishing supplies. Overall, the people were friendly, place was generally pretty clean, and it was very quiet and relaxed. Would stay there again!

Captain: , Goosepond AL (97)

We really like this area, everyone is very friendly, and has some great amenities near the docks including a very nice restaurant, a grill/grocery store and onsite repair facility. The rates are very reasonable. Pump out and Gas docks available.

Very nice people and facility, 2015-12-08
Captain: , San Francisco (155)

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are clean and well-kept. Good fuel prices.

Fuel, Food, Friendly Service, 2015-11-18
Captain: , Prattville, AL (280)

Great stop for fuel, food, and friendly service.

We had more help than we could use while tying up for fuel and pumpout, and then as we docked for the night.

The approach to the marina seems dicey because it gets shallow, but stay between the markers and you'll be fine.

The Docks Restaurant is just a short walk from the marina, and it's well worth the trip.

Best fuel prices and people , 2015-11-07
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

Excellent place to stop going or coming to Chattanooga. We did it both times and loaded up on the high quality inexpensive diesel. All the folks were first rate, especially Kelly. Entrance seems shallower than it is, and we draw 4.5' and had no problems. Would definitely one back.

Great Place to Stay, 2015-10-30
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Stayed here going up the Tennessee, and back down. Very enjoyable stay. Great place to eat, good docks, TV, WiFi, helpful, courtesy car. Could not ask for more.

Excellant Marina, 2015-10-10

This marina is a great place to stay. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Shower and restroom facilities were clean and convenient to the marina.

Excellent Marina, 2015-09-28
Captain: , Thunder Bay Ontario (40)

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the Goose Pond Family. If your travels take you up the Tennessee River it is a must stop. On site there is a Golf Course, restaurant, laundry, courtesy vehicle, repair facility, and swimming pool which are the best of the best. The marina staff are very friendly and go out of there way to help. The other boaters are a delight and we could not meet more accommodating and friendly people anywhere. Pricing is fair and reasonable.

Excellent marina, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Midway Marina Fulton Ms (24)

Entry was well marked. Grass gives false reading. Good depth all the way. Excellent help. Walked to the Dock to eat. Wonderful food. Diesel was $ 3.00 a gallon.

Great marina, 2015-08-13
Captain: , Greensboro, GA (30)

Stayed here several months this summer. Entire staff very helpful and laid back. Clean facility. Angler marine on site helpful. Dock restaurant an easy walk.
Weeds in entrance channel may give false depth reading. We draw 3.5 feet and have had no problem anywhere in marked channel.

Great Place to Stay a While, 2015-07-24
Captain: , Currently Living on Tennessee River (180)

We came for a month and stayed 2. Not much I can add to what everyone else says. I will stay a few days iagain n the fall on my way down river. If the mood catches me right, I might spend the late winter and spring. Great place. Dont pass up the opportunity to visit Cathedral Caverns ab out 11 miles away.

Very pleasant marina, 2014-10-24
Captain: , Florida (235)

Stayed here overnight on our way downstrean to make a grocery run and catch up on laundry. Nice people, great laundry room and a courtesy vehicle to do shopping.

Tranquil stop over, 2014-09-17
Captain: , Naples, FL (682)

This would have to be the quietest marina on the river. No roads or rail and no party boats. Set among the trees and adjoining golf course it offers a great place to relax for a few days. It has a very good restaurant open Tue to Sat. Fuel is cheap. Courtesy car is available to run into nearby Scottsboro. Milfoil is encroaching on the entrance channel and gives a false depth reading but plenty of water for 4-5 ft draft.

Wonderful marina!, 2014-08-14
Captain: , Knoxville, Tennessee (230)

We've stopped here on 3 separate occasions. One of our favorites. Staff very nice and helpful, phenominal steak and seafood restaurant just across the parking lot, and gorgeous sunsets! Narrow channel coming in but very well marked. Ignore your depth sounder as you get false readings from the weeds.

Can't Miss, 2014-08-13
Captain: , Soddy Daisy, Tn. (80)

Most accomodating marina in the area by far. Spent a week as a transient and could not have been more pleased. GM and his staff are all about service.

Goose Pond Marina, 2014-07-17
Captain: , Jacksonville,Fl. (90)

Not the easiest place to enter, but worth the effort.

Wery peaceful place to spend the night.Rest rooms and showers close by and clean. Best gas price on this trip.$4.25 Gal. Its the second time ived stopped here and will be back again.

Rockiing and rolling, 2014-07-07
Captain: , scottsboro, Al. (141)

Very nice marina, great staff, laundry and restrooms/showers.
No Wake floats and signage posted at entrance channel dis-regarded by most everyone. watched one slip renter on dock three come into no wake area at about 10 MPH.
Put out large fenders for protection at transient and fuel docks.

Cheapest Diesel around, 2014-06-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda FL (1709)

Nice marina with very helpful staff and cheapest diesel around. Local restaurant open Wednesday - Sunday. Be careful of the millifoil in the summer as it is so thick as you can walk on it. It can clog the channel so stay in it.

Great Stop, 2013-12-04
Captain: , Roswell, GA (455)

We stayed a couple of nights back in late October. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The marina channel approach is well marked but interesting. Good wind protection. The Dock Restaurant is excellent. The marina showers are clean and well kept.

getting in is interesting, 2013-10-21
Captain: , Everett WA (414)

Nice place. The channel is right at marker 378. On my Garmin there is a well marked channel 1/2 mile down river, That Is Not the way in. The channel in is marked on the water but not on the chart. About half way in there is a good size sign in the trees to port.

Goose Pond Marina, 2013-10-12
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Very nice marina once you work your way through the weeds to get there. Jim (manager), Johnny, and Dan all came to help us dock and we had our choice of about 10 transient slips. Loaner car, WiFi, pumpout, Gas, Diesel, 30 and 50 amp service, strong water pressure, laundry, clean restrooms (a short walk), and even a book exchange.
The Dock Restaurant is across the parking lot and had good food and live entertainment on Friday night.
Highly recommend.

great stop, 2013-09-17
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, FL (603)

We fricasseed stay at goose Pond marina. We ignore the depth sounder warnings on the way in the channel. We assume and hope it is because of the growing weed. Very hospitable and with a great rental car to go to town. Very friendly and helpful staff and other guests. I can understand why there is a five-year wait for a covered slip.

Chattanooga trip, 2013-09-06
Captain: , Bayhill marina (40)

Goose Pond was another stop on our trip. Beautiful spot , very clean
we didnt get to eat at the resturant ( closed on Sunday and Monday) but everyone says it's great. will visit again

Great stop for us, 2012-09-28
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

Nice marina, stone deck on nice floating docks. Entrance channel is 6ft deep if you go slow you will be fine. Free courtesy car....why dont people put some gas in these free cars????We put $10 gas in to run into town. Restaurant on premises but we didnt eat there so no comment on that. Laundry right there. 2 washers, 4 dryers. We will come back.

Nice place to stay, 2012-08-29
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

We stayed here both going and coming on our trip to Chattanooga 8/21 and 8/29. We found the marina clean and the staff friendly. The only real issue is the Hydillia and Lilly pads both very common on the lake as well as on the entrance to the marina, both are trimmed back but there are long strains of Hydillia in the transit slips but don%u2019t seem to be any real problem. We were not able to get the cable TV either time here. The staff also doesn%u2019t seem to be early risers since we had to wait for their arrival to make our slip payment.

excellent marina in every way, 2012-08-01

Clean grounds & dock. Excellent restaurant/bar on site (closed Sun/Mon). Grill onsite for breakfast & lunch, sells beer. Laundry. Pool is $1 for transients. Courtesy car and helpful staff. Just a wonderful marina!

Always a nice weekend at Goose Pond, 2012-01-20
Captain: , Rogersville, AL (151)

We were here for a late fall weekend, ate at the Docks, went to the unclaimed luggage store in the marina van, had some golfers in the group also. Great fall weekend, even if I did have boat problems.

Well marked channel, quiet marina, 2011-10-30
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6425)

Marina found room for 5 transients, stayed late to accomodate us and get us fueled and tied up. Welll marked channel on the way in, over 6 ft. all the way. Very quiet night.

Captain: , Annapolis, MD (343)

Stopped here on the way up to Chattanooga nad on the way back. Friendly staff, good fuel price. Resturant leaves a little to be desired

Always nice, 2011-09-26
Captain: , Seabrook TX (100)

Second time in Goose Pond and found it excellent as before. Be aware that the $30 flat fee for overnight is scheduled to change to $1.00/ft beginning October 1st, 2011. I would still choose to stay even if the rate goes up. 9/23/11

Quiet Stop, 2011-07-07
Captain: , Chattanooga (20)

Stopped here on 6/30/11 and arrived after hours. We had called earlier in the day to request overnight dockage and the Gentleman was very friendly and told us just to pick a slip near the Marina office when we arrived. We departed the next morning before sun up and the channel is very well marked with reflective channel markers that are easily picked up with a spotlight. We called in after the marina opened to make our payment and were charged $30 for the night. Great value and we will be sure to visit again.

Inexpensive Marina, 2011-06-15
Captain: , North Palm Beach, FL (539)

Stopped here on 6/14/11 with 52 footer. Overnight dockage, including power and wifi was $30. Diesel fuel was priced at $3.90, with no discounts for larger quantity. Restaruant, The Dock, served up good good, a short walk nearby. I would certainly stay here again.

Great transient stop, 2011-02-16
Captain: , Georgia (125)

Last weekend was our 2nd time passing through Goose Pond as a transient. Nice docks, clean fuel, and good prices. Very friendly place to stop. Channel to marina is well marked.

Great place to stop, outstanding price and service with car., 2009-12-03
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

Great people, nice area. I can see why people pull in here and never If you come in, you MUST go to The Docks and eat. I recommend the Shrimp and will never have a better, ORIGINAL, meal. This was my second time back.

Great Inexpensive Marina, 2009-10-09
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

At $25 for a 37' boat with courtsey vehicle and clean bathrooms this is a very nice marina. A great stop to stage for the run to the Nickajack Lock if you are a slow trawler (7-8knts) traveling against the 1/2 knot current.

nice stop on the 'TN, 2009-10-06
Captain: , Charlotte Harbor, FL (1548)

Stayed here for three months summer of very nice place to stay! Docks is a great restaurant. $1 pool in the summer. Courtesy car......

Great place to stay., 2009-07-23
Captain: , Little Rock (50)

Goose Pond is a quiet place to spend one or a couple nights. The marina offers gasoline and diesel, a small restaurant, and a courtesy car that you can use to pick up groceries or dinner in nearby Scottsboro (10 minutes away). If you have your golf clubs with you, check out the golf course. It was a very decent course, especially considering its low cost.

Be careful when entering the narrow harbor channel. Look for the small sign on the bank (down stream side) to mark the entrance (do not attempt to enter the larger "channel" slightly down river of this entrance). Depth was approximately 8 ft.

Goose Pond, 2008-07-10

Great little marina, people are very helpful. Car available for trips to small town(seven miles away).

New travel lift , 2008-02-01
Captain: , Goosepond Marina, Tennessee River (17)

Goosepond now has a travel lift and can do haul out and bottom work. The manager/harbormaster Jim Himburg & staff do an excellent job. They are very helpful; take good care of resident & transient boaters.

Top Flight Marina, 2007-12-19
Captain: , Snellville, GA (162)

Great Marina with good food on site! Would be 5 Star if they only had a travel lift.

Great Stop, 2007-09-23
Captain: , North GA Mountains (649)

Great staff. Very helpful. Good restaurant/bar. Tight channel but well marked.

Goose Pond is Special, 2007-04-14
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

Great stop on the Tennessee river. The new transient docks have 50 amp, water, and pump out stations. The staff is extremely friendly and able & I rate them among the best teams on the Tennessee. The restaurant is somewhat pricey but First Class in food with decent, although usually loud, entertainment. The desserts are to savor.
There are 2 18 hole golf courses, swimming pool, fuel and a small repair facility. They are planning to get a large travel lift. One drawback is the lack of a courtesy car. The staff makes up for it by taking you places but it still doesn't replace having a courtesy car.
Transient shower/bathroom facilities are clean and kept up.

Good Marina, Great Restaurant, 2007-02-08
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

Very nice facility with good service. Nice folks.
Water depth is a problem for larger cruising boats in the fall and winter. They have dredged but call ahead and ask anyway. Best fuel prices I found in the area. Very transient friendly. The restaurant was really good last time I was there.
