Reviews for Georgetown Landing Marina
Good Marina, 2017-08-27
Captain: , Little River, SC (278)

Nice marina with friendly staff. Current can be a little strong so plan accordingly. Stayed for four nights. Boaters don't really obay the no wake zone so make sure you have your finders out.

Good Experience, 2017-07-11
Captain: , Charleston, SC (220)

Firewalled it to make it by closing on 07/08/17. Very friendly folks. Very nice restaurant at head of docks, surprisingly good. Plenty of help next morning to fuel and get out on time. Navigation is easy. Surprised the cleats were as small as they were for the big boats there and the unprotected location. But hey, it on my list to return.

Marina Open, 2017-05-30
Captain: , Oriental, NC (114)

Contrary to the previous comment, the marina is open to loves transients. They are capable and friendly. It's the easiest in and out marina in the area

active captain needs updating, 2016-12-06
Captain: , Port Colborne (70)

Easy docking from ICW with great deck hands and lots of water. We expected $1.50/ ft less 25% for boatUS. We were charged 1.50/ft including the discount as the rate is now $2/ft. Active captain doesn't show a fee for electric and I paid $6.50 for a 50 amp plug. Still a great stop and still a great price, just not as awesome as I had hoped.

sailing vessels welcomed, 2016-10-07
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (980)

We came in later than expected and crew stayed to help us get tied up. Transient T head easy to approach even in current, not a lot of movement through the night, quiet. Great restaurant with in walking distance. We will make this a favorite stop.

Everything Good, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Oriental, NC (190)

Great dock hands. Good facilities. Great experience. Communicate well on radio. Good dining across the parking lot. What more do you need. This was a 37' sailboat delivery and the convenience really made things easy.

Good marina for one night, 2016-04-16
Captain: , Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732 (200)

Good marina for our one night stay. Would drop back on return trip. Dock hands lots of help.

Good Internet, 2016-02-18
Captain: , Colorado (411)

A decent marina with good floating docks for transients (they have fied docks too...seem to be mostly sport fishing boats). Convenient access from the ICW with plenty of room and depth. Very friendly and helpful staff. Current runs mostly paralell with dock with a slight push to the east. Old downtown (Harborwalk) about a mile walk away. Convenience stores nearby. Good WiFi signal even out at the fuel dock and decent speeds (seems rare for most marinas). Ships store had some basic supplies and fishing gear. Only negative is the paper plant smell if the wind is from the right direction...but they can't really do anything about that.

Nice place to stop, 2015-11-10
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

Stayed here for one night while traveling south. Weather was rainy and dockhands were getting soaked. Had dinner at the restaurant on the premisis. It was excellent. One drawback is that it is pretty far off the ocean.

Responsible and Inexpensive!, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Wickford, RI (421)

Easy access to ICW. Nice floating docks. Trash can right next to boat for individual trash, bag changed every morning. Great recycling: plastic, glass, cans.
Only reason it's not a 5 is distance from downtown, but cabs are available.

great place, 2015-11-09
Captain: , Fairhaven Ma (132)

stopped on our way south . easy in ,plenty of depth ,strong current but great dick hands to assist with lines . walk to historic downtown area , great are . will be stopping again

Great Location, 2015-10-17
Captain: , Hull, MA (720)

Marina is very accessible and close to ICW. Great alonside docking on floating docks for $1.50/ft. Deck staff is very helpful when you are arriving or leaving. Restroom and showers are clean. Great WIFI at docks! Marina is very close to downtown Georgetown ( 20 min walk). Great downtown area shops, restuarants ( Try Alfresco Bistro on Front Street --Yum)

Terrific service, 2015-10-15
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Arrived after hours David was waiting and spent two hours fueling us so we could leave before they opened in the morning. Good docks, good power and fuel was within pennies per gallon of the cheapest. Got to go dinner from the restaurant and two fussy guys were very pleased. All in all a great stop if you are in a hurry and looked pretty good if you wanted to hang around and relax.

10-14-13 Arrived late again gave credit card by phone, 25' water at face dock. Rent was $1.50 foot. 100 amp power was terrific, plenty of amps. Easy in & out. Restaurant is good.

10-4-14 Stayed again same comments, easy in & out, accomodating staff, fair price. Good power and good water depth. Big current.

Stayed night of 4-28-15 Same comments. Arrived after they cloded and left before they opened. Called in with credit card next day, very accomodating.

Here again 10-14-15, current was very fast due to past storm water. Review the same, good dock help, staff very cordial and restuarant good.

Nice convenient marina, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We spent two nights here on our way north. The docks were very easy to pull up to and depart. Dock hands were great. Downtown is a quick taxi ride from the marina front gate.

Needed a weeks dockage due to Tropical Storm ANA, 2015-05-18
Captain: , Little River SC (586)

We got delayed in McClennanville for two days trying to get our boatt back to Little River from Charleston. Made it to Georgetown and had to get back to work and needed five nights dockage. Dock master David Black gaves us a great rate and was very acommodating.

Great deep water stop and easy docking, 2015-03-31
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1084)

Georgetown is a smaller town. The marina is really nice with newer good and clean facilities. The ship's store has more marine stock than snacks; which is a good things. The town is within walking or bicycle distance, and we understand it has a really nice bakery. The marina staff was quick to lend a hand tieing and fueling up. Their overnight fee is reasonable and offered a ride to the nearby stores, if we needed it.

Excellent Transiet Layover, 2015-03-08
Captain: , Grand Island, NE (240)

Redecking docks almost complete

Professional / courteous staff

Clean restrooms / showers

Easy On and Off Floating long LONG face transiet dock

Very nice marina, 2014-10-09
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (502)

Here on 9/17/14.
Met by good dock hands. I underestimated the Strong current but got away with it.
Dined at nearby Land's End Restaurant, which had great food, atmosphere and service.
Would certainly return.

stayed here in june, 2014-09-12
Captain: , Cape Coral Fl (12354)

Had the occasion to stop here to fix my boat the marina went out of their way to help me out and help me get back on my way.
stop in it's a grate place

A fun and friendly place, 2014-06-20
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

I've kept my boat here for the months of May and June and I kinda hate to leave. We've met so many nice people here.

First, the specifics: Docks are a little old. Transient T-head can get super rough under the right circumstances which would be an outgoing tide and wind anywhere from the South. When we arrived in May such conditions existed and we would not have been able to stay on the outside of the T and the inside wasn't much better. They let me stay on the fuel dock close to shore for a day until conditions improved.

That said, we picked a nice slip on the inside which we are quite happy with. John the dockmaster is awesome to work with as is the entire staff. There is a good ships store with many common filters, oil, fittings, rope, fishing supplies, etc.

This is mainly a fishing marina, so as a trawler/cruiser we are different, but the people here have welcomed us and our dogs. They've had several fishing tournaments based from the marina and that is quite fun to witness, plus we were given some fresh Mahi and Tuna by one of our new friends. This is a great reason to be a boater and a great place to boat or keep your boat. They keep an eye on things and walk the docks multiple times a day looking for anything wrong and will double tie your boat if a storm is coming.

Lots of stuff nearby for weekend trips: Waccamaw river, Sandy Island, McClellanvile.

I'd give the place 5 stars except that the current makes backing into a slip challenging. It does run pretty much parallel with the slips so it isn't the most difficult place but in windy conditions I would feel the stress.

Overnight stay in high winds, 2014-04-20
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (361)

The staff was efficient and helpful.
Their fuel price was the lowest we have experienced yet on this trip north.
Reccommend bow into the wind as the tide current runs both ways here. We learned the hard way not to be stern to the wind. Wrong decision on our part.

Great Fuel Stop, 2013-12-07
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (216)

I've had the pleasure of stopping here several times in the past 3 months. Each time I have been greeted by experienced dockhands and friendly service.
The fuel price remains a major draw at $3.77 incl. taxes.
We've had to travel away from the area and leave our boat for sometimes as much as three weeks. We feel completely secure in leaving her in such capable hands.

Great marina, Nasty current, 2013-11-05
Captain: , Nashville (315)

We pulled into Georgetown only to find that there were no slips available at any of the marinas near downtown, so we called Georgetown Landing and they confirmed they could accomodate us. Tied us up on the face dock and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only issue with the location was that there was zero current protection and the next morning we had a really hard time getting the boat off the dock safely because the current was trying to push us right into a very nice, very expensive Hatteras Yacht. Luckily we got off without incident but it was a little hairy for a moment. Next time we'd wait until slack tide to leave.

GREAT SERVICE, 2013-10-22
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

This is a really good marina. The dock help had a great attitude. They were very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They guided us in, tied and flemished our lines, and hooked up the electric. The floating docks were in very good condition and it was just a 20" walk into town. All for only $1.50/ft.

Convienent for Georgetown, 2013-10-19
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

The current is strong here, but we had 3 dockhands greet us to help us with lines at the face dock. Fuel here is the lowest in S. Carolina, so we topped up. It is an easy 20 minute walk into downtown Georgetown. But we ate at the restaurant on property, and had one of our best meals along the US east coast.

This would be a 5 star, but the docks are getting old. Do not walk barefoot on these docks. Ouch. Other than that, nice stop.

Very nice place, 2013-05-14
Captain: , Hampton, VA (115)

Very helpful folks and really good facilities.

Cheaper Geogetown Marina, 2012-11-14
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1304)

$1.50 a foot with electric. Nice showers! 25 minutes to the waterfront by foot or borrow bikes.

Most helpful dock hands ever, 2012-10-20
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (6077)

We were met by three dock hands to help us at their face dock. They each introduced themselves, adjusted the lines and plugged in the electric. Upon paying at the dockhouse, i was warmly greeted said how happy they were to have us there.

The docks are functional but worn. The marina is big on charter boat fishing and they have on display the largest Marlin ever caught in South Carolina.

The marina is about 1/4 mile from town but there is a restaurant on site if you need one. There is a small ship's store for oil and maintenance items. We spent a very still and quiet night at the dock.

Convenient Stop, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

The marina is right off the ICW which is great if you are just staying the night. The town is just a little to far for a walk but not bad for a bike ride. Folks there are great - very helpful!

Agree With All The Reviews!!!, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Beaumont, TX (669)

Stayed the night 06/12/12. Staff wonderful. Was a bit rocky rolly from the storm but great stop over for the night. Cannot beat the fuel price at $3.68/gallon....we filled our tanks....cheapest fuel since Carrabelle.

What a surprise!, 2012-06-01
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (3132)

Dockhands are GREAT, staff is outstanding, fuel price was absurdly low $3.64, dockage ended up being just over $1 a foot....I will definitely be back.

Nice place to stop, 2012-04-15
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

All previous reviews check out.
Rates were very low after BoatUS discount. Their weekly rate was lower in total dollars than the three night rate in total dollars, so we're staying a week and get some technician stuff done.
Note that pump out station is NOT on fuel facing dock. You would have to maneuver boat deep into the center slips area of marina. Could be tricky especially with tides and currents. See comment about groceries. Nice offer by Piggly Wiggly -- Very helpful. Very clean marina. Bathrooms and showers were in excellent condition. Overall appearance and amenities good. The floating docks do rock and roll with the heavy currents and the stiff winds. Very nice people. Nice town but you could cover it all in an afternoon. Enjoyed our stay.

Good stop with reasonable fuel prices, 2012-03-25
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (329)

This is the fourth time that we stopped here for the night. We usually get fuel when we stop; their fuel prices are usually very competitive. The long alongside dock is an easy in/out even with current. Downtown Georgetown is less than a 1 -mile walk away. Also, there is a nice restaurant right next to the marina.

Nice People. Experienced Dockhands. Excellent Store, 2011-11-18
Captain: , Deltaville VA (140)

On a WINDY day. Very helpful. Excellent assortment of supplies in the Ships Store. A hike to town, but worth it.

The Price isn't Right, 2011-11-08
Captain: , Marathon (275)

We stopped here and I was under the impression the cost was $1.50/ft because the Charts and Tides IPhone app had not been updated. The next morning John Horten the GM came to the boat to make sure it wasn't their mistake. That's good customer service.
Twenty minute walk to town.

Nice place and people, 2011-11-08
Captain: , Deltaville, Va. (210)

We stayed here one night and enjoyed it. One restaurant is very close, good showers and polite staff. Just note that the 1.50/ foot price is with the Boat US discount. It is 2.00/foot without the discount.

Transient vessel support, 2011-10-20
Captain: , Dover DE (228)

Excellent transient rates - will arrange to drive to WalMart/Etc. Wonderful people very willing to help! Laundry and clean bathrooms. Excellent restuaunt nearby. Easy docks but watch currents as they can be swift in this river.

Long Floating Face Dock, 2011-05-30
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

Arrived Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Had expected to be rocked and rolled by boat traffice on the outside of the face dock. Only experienced a few rude boaters that rocked us. Could be another story with strong south winds. A little more protection on the inside of the face dock. Dinner at the restaurant adjacent to the property was fair. Better selection of restaurants in town.

Best fuel prices, 2011-05-22
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

We found their fuel prices to be the lowest so far on our trip north. Very helpful staff which is important with the strong current. We spent the night on the face dock and did not rock much. There are a lot of sport fishing boats who leave early but we did not feel much wave action from them.

One of our favorites, 2011-04-12
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (671)

Tidal currents can be strong, so it's wise to follow the advice of the well versed dock staff when approaching. The ships's store is well supplied with very good prices on maintenance items. Restrooms and showers are clean, and the short bike ride into town takes you through some historic neighborhoods that you wouldn't see otherwise.

Great Staff, 2011-02-18
Captain: , West Palm Beach, FL (82)

Staff very helpful. Easy, floating docks. Best fuel prices I encountered. Adjacent Hampton Inn was good. Somewhat isolated from historic portion of town, but I would certainly stay again.

Nice place, but bumpy in a south wind, 2010-11-20
Captain: , Kingston, Ontario (1970)

Stayed here two nights, nice short walk to town, great town to visit. Second night weather deterioated and winds picked up from south, made for a very bumpy ride, had to double dock lines and hang on. Waves came over the docks. Staff very friendly, facilities are clean.

Great location & staff., 2010-06-12
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Dock staff are very accommodating and walk to town is easy.

great marina overall, 2009-10-28
Captain: , Little River, SC (101)

Easy walking to many resturants. Nice docks, staff and wifi. We stayed during the annual wooden boat show and will stay next time we come through Georgetown.

Georgetown Landing, 2009-10-25
Captain: , Lighthouse Pt., FL (66)

The marina employees are great but they can not make up for the poor location of the marina. It is exposed to both the north and the south. The fetch to the south being 4 miles. The current from the Pee Dee river flows through at 1.9 knots out and 1.3 in. When the wind is against the tide there is terrible chop set up making it difficult to even walk the outer docks. It is a 20 minute walk to town, 15 min. to a shrimp dock with great fresh shrimp and fish. 10 minute walk to a Hertz car rental.

Easy access, 2009-10-03
Captain: , Varies - Home in Charlotte, NC (243)

Easy to get to. The docks are floating. Long walk to get dog to grass. Very courteous dock hands and a fairly good marine store.

nice stop, 2008-07-30
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

floating docks

"a" for effort, 2007-11-21
Captain: , Dallas, TX (102)

They really try to be first class, service wise.Very good dock hands. If anchorage is full, as it was for our visit, this is a good bailout, save for the longish walk into town. Since they are "closed" on Thanksgiving, they didn't charge us for that day; Indicative of their customer friendly attitude.

Nice, 2007-04-25
Captain: , Nashville, TN (21)

Enjoyed our stay there had fuel and pump out facilities. They charge $5.00 for the pumpout, Crew is readily accesible and friendly. Best resturant in town was the Rice Paddy, try there crab cakes absolutely the best ever tasted, all crab meat and zero filler
