Gateway isn't the worst I've ever seen, but its close. The docks aren't new -- I'd say nearing 15 years old at this point. The wave attenuator is broken and/or missing in some spots, which can make for a lumpy ride at the dock in a SW gale. These are not uncommon in late summer/early autumn. The marina services are horrible. The electric and water were out for ridiculously long periods in 2015. This is a great example of what happens to a marina when the owners choose to loot the coffers every year rather than reinvesting some of it to keep up the infrastructure (its a mini USA). Close to Manhattan? Kind of, after a long scary bus ride down Flatbush to an additional 45 minute train ride. No shopping, no fuel dock, no restaurant, gross bathrooms and showers, Russian disco parties til 4am - if you're lucky these will include jet skis doing doughnuts behind your slip. In short, what is anyone paying for here?
+'s incude: .... .... It's close to Rockaway?

I picked up a delivery here after a $35 taxi ride from JFK. Came in late and woke up the guard at the gate. Docks were new after Sandy but 30 amp service was preducing about 10. Bathrooms and shower were the dirtiest I have ever encountered at at Marina. Nasty. Overpriced. No services or grocery nearby. A local charged the boat owner $150 to take him to nearest grocery for provisions. Follow the channel marks in and out as there is lots of shoaling. Very disappointed in this marina, but then it's Brooklyn.

Decent Marina, 2014-07-03

Not a bad marina, my boat is berthed here. Easy access to New York Bay, Raritan Bay, Grave's End Bay and nice sailing off of Coney Island. The don't call it Breezy Point for nothing! The Staff is nice and the price's are what I would expect. Actually cheaper than a marina (not as nice) in Staten Island where I had my boat prior. Plenty of space between finger docks and a good view from your boat when your docked. I have been here for two years now, and I am happy. Marina is large so don't expect any personal attention, the one bad thing about it I guess. At the marina i was in Staten Island, everybody knew everybody and the owner let you do whatever you wanted as long as you didnt kill nobody! Lol... Would say the the little store leaves much to be desired. But they always have Ice!!! and beer too...

Little damage from Sandy but transients rates still $3.50/ft with few amenities.

The floating docks are new and the location for local sailing and fishing is great. Nothing much else at the marina for transients ($3.50/ft) but NYC is a bus and subway ride (a good hour) away.

Tough time getting in, 2012-07-08

07-07-12 Stayed here two nights waiting for storms to pass thru. Had a difficult time getting our 25' wide catamaran past the sandbar at green "11". Monohuller coming in from another direction guided me thru, but only after I had touched bottom three times. Since I was aware of the bar I was at a very low speed and able to back off easily. When we left the marina I did not retrace our track in, instead opted to go straight out parallel to the longface dock at the marina (the way the monohull had come in. Much easier.
This marina is part of Gateway National Recreation Area and is pretty typical of government run facilities - not the greatest. The docks are covered with bird crap and mussle shells. Despite the downside, the Dockmaster Chet was a big help in getting us to our slip (almost like going thru a maze), and we did have a "front row" slip for the awesome fireworks Friday evening on Rockaway Point - the most amazing finale we've ever seen.
The transient price is high for what you get. They want your credit card # over the phone and then want a confirmation that you accept the total charge e-mailed to them. Will think twice before staying here again - prefer Liberty Landing Marina if I'm going to have to pay this high a price.

At $3/ft, it was a ripoff. Bathrooms filthy - no hot water in showers. Office closed on Sun and Mon? No stores within waling distance. Ended up here because we had to get in and rest after a hard day's night - very tricky to get into - shoals, bars, etc. No fuel dock.

Good floats, 2011-02-26

A good stopover on your way North or South or to leave the boat for a few days.
No easy access without a car.
