Reviews for Gasparilla Marina
Eh, not so good afterall, 2016-07-27
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1696)

This was my first review -- Pulled in for a one night stopover, but needed some quick service work too. Large full service boatyard got the job done fast and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. Good restaurant on site. Their showers / bathrooms are the most luxurious marina baths I've seen. Very nice. Probably not a week long stay, but certainly good for a few days and if you're getting work done."
The story continued later on when we pulled into our slip at our next stop and tried to plug in our power, we immediately noticed that one of our plugs was cooked and scorched. We strongly believe this happened at Gasparilla because we did see some flickering of power while we were there. We were also plugged into a power stand with two other boats. We called Gasparilla to at least tell them that this happened. We weren't trying to gig them for any money or anything like that. We just wanted to pass along the info. We talked to the service department, told them that we were very happy with the work we had done, but there was this plug thing that happened. The guy immediately went on the defense and said it couldn't have been their fault because that dock had mega amps to handle yachts, etc. I told him we weren't out for blood or anything like that and that we were otherwise happy with what we had done. His response was, (para) "Well, I'm glad to hear you were so happy with our service. I said, "Except for the couple of hundred bucks I now have to pay for a new plug to be put in. He pretty much hung up on me.
Live and learn.
They were on our 'good technician' list. Now they're not.
The three stars are for Ed fixing our throttle linkage, the bathrooms, and the restaurant.

Great Place to Stay, 2016-02-21
Captain: , Englewood, Fl (20)

We've stayed here a couple of nights in 2015. We were very happy with the choice. Free coffee at the fuel dock/store and VERY clean bathrooms!
It was a long walk, kinda, from our dock to the restaurant but that put us close to the restrooms. The restaurant is very nice and the food was fantastic!

Used for survey, 2016-01-21
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (366)

Took my boat here to be surveyed. The haulout crew is very competent. Stayed overnight because of an early start. There is a place to eat on premise while waiting for work to be finished.

Best Fuel Prices Around!, 2015-12-18
Captain: , Crystal River, FL (21)

$1.99/gallon diesel, taxes included... need I say more? Add to that a friendly staff and clean, beautiful facilities, all you could want in a marina!

Lucky stop, 2015-10-21
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (169)

We were actually enroute to Palm Island Marina for the night but got stuck at Boca Grande Causeway bridge with an hour and 45min wait due to construction. It was a half hour from sunset with 20+knot winds. no fun. Noticed on my Polar Navy chartplotter with AC that Gasparilla Marina was literally 5min behind me. Tried to call them but it was after hours. Left a voicemail with Bill the Harbormaster and shortly after we arrived in the protected harbor he and the night security guard were there to help us tie up for the night. Bill went the extra mile for us by checking with the Bar and Grill on the property to make sure they would stay open for us for dinner. He then also gave us use of the golf cart to drive around the property to get to the very nice shower facilities. The next morning the very friendly staff had a little goodie bag for us and even gave us some nice coupons for the restaurant for our next stop there. Next time we are passing through we will definitely be stopping back in.

Biggest mistake we've made so far, 2015-07-09
Captain: , Corpus Christi (240)

This marina is the one we bring up when everyone is talking about some of thier worst expiences . We set up to have the boat hauled a week in advance so we could get a bottom paint job. They promised it would be ready in 10 days. As full time cruisers this was important to us as we had to stay in a hotel while we waited for the work to get done. A month later and several bad repairs expeinces later we couldnt wait to get out of this marina. I would not stay here again if they paid me. See my reviews of their poor service.

thorough and reasonable, 2015-07-04
Captain: , maderia beach fl (10)

we were fortunate to be close to this marina when we needed service yet again with what had been an ongoing problem with our charging system that had been missed by other repair facilities. The problem was elusive but they persevered until they found the cause. The cost was surprisingly reasonable and best of all the work was done properly and now several months later the charging system is still working great. Capt. John and the staff are knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, and the facilities at this marina are first class.

A great stopover, 2015-05-01
Captain: , Palmetto (412)

I agree with the previous positive reviews, the dockhands were great getting us into the slip (on a windy day), very friendly and professional. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, especially the heads.
The transient package, with discount coupons to the restuarant and information about the marina, was very useful. We used the coupons for lunch and dinner at the on-site restaurant and had two very nice meals.
The ships store is nice too.

The Captain Agrees, 2015-04-16
Captain: , Ft Myers Beach (74)

Everything said about this marina is accurate including, especially including the showers. Dockhands extremely handy and friendly. Slips accessible. Good restaurant nearby. Excellent wifi.
First thing the Captain said was the slip rent was worth the shower.

Didn't go wrong, 2015-01-19
Captain: , Nebraska (30)

We used this marina to hoist our 30' sailboat into the water. The service was outstanding. They went way beyond what was required as we had prop problems with a feathering prop and had to be rehauled a couple of times. Plus they actually let us set the mast up ourselves (they will do it for you, but we have a mast raising system. Of the other places I contacted Gasparilla Marina was the only one that contacted me back but to me shows the quality of service they provide. We were even a day late getting there due to an illness and they called to see if we were really coming.

Friendly people, 2015-01-13
Captain: , Seattle (131)

An easy stop between Sarasota and Fort Myers with deep water, as long as you stay in the center of the channel. Immaculate restrooms with large, tiled shower. Captains lounge with TV. Courtesy golf cart provided for the long trip to the great bar/restaurant on site. We had good lunch and dinner with 10% off coupon provided at check in.

convenient spot, 2014-12-05
Captain: , st petersburg, fl (807)

Easy in and out from the ICW, and more affordable than Boca Grande.

Good but expensive fuel, 2014-11-28
Captain: , Venice (589)

We have stayed here several times over the years and they have always been a good safe place to stay. Good showers and restaurant. We did find their diesel fuel prices high; perhaps they are too close to the billionaires on Boca Grande. Would recommend for a transient stop.

Exceptional help in getting back running, 2014-11-18
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (280)

Dinghy motor would not start and marina on phone said they would work it in quick. Great help getting sailboat into temp slip and by the time I got to the repair shop, they were ready to pull it apart, no paper work. Hour and a half later, running great, $ much less than I expected. Lunch was good at their restaurant/bar. Weather turned sour and we ended staying two nights. Clean restrooms and laundry. 5 mile round trip walk to Publix, walked on grass at side of road. Not much else close. Channel in was at same depth as ICW.

Nice Marina and Restaurant , 2014-11-01
Captain: , Charlestown MA (10)

Easy access from ICW. Some fishing tackle in marina store. Good breakfast place. Shallow water on either side of channel to marina.

Got new bottom paint here, 2014-09-14
Captain: , Charlotte Harbor, FL (263)

Good working marina. Finished the new bottom paint under time and under estimate. Deck had quite a bit of dust from the sanding job they were doing next to my boat, but it cleaned up easily.

Friendly working marina, 2014-06-25
Captain: , Fort Myers, FL (70)

Nice working marina. I had my boat there for a few weeks and everything went well. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would use them again. Not a resort marina.

Well maintained and firendly., 2014-04-13
Captain: , Bochum (318)

Be careful navigating into the marina and keep to the channel, there are some shallows to port and stb. Dockage is good as are the shower facilities. Laundry & TV room, Marine store, fuel and restaurant are all on site. My stay coincided with that of friend who had brought down his car, otherwise provisioning would have been a lot more difficult.

Fuel only stop, SNOOK, 2014-03-25
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Stopped for fuel, water and Ice. Very helpful dock help, he even disposed of our trash for us. 5 - 10 pound snook hanging out under the fuel/bait dock. I wanted to pet them, then hook, fillet and release, but no fishing from here. It would have been too easy.

Best bail out marina south of Sarasota when weather turns or mechanical issues arise, 2014-03-06
Captain: , Boca Grande (72)

Well marked channel. Excellent docks. On site full service for large yachts and small boats, including outboard service and huge haul out crane.

This is the best bail out marina if you have a mechanical issue or encounger bad weather and need to hold up for a few days. Nothing within 50 miles that can compare once you get south of Sarasota. Next stop for full service at this level is Ft. Meyers.

Great facilities and a wonderful group of people on staff. I kept my Tiara there for quite a few years while living nearby (found this place by mistake after a mechanical failure during a nighttime transit from Ft Meyers to Tampa) and had a great experience - so good I came back a year later and stayed for 6 years.

Jeff in the marina ship's store is just fantastic.

Nice restaurant on property, spotless restrooms, laundry, captains lounge, wifi at restaurant, live bait, pump out , rental boats....they have it all!

Good anchorage just outside marina channel for an overnight if it's calm's a straight shot south to Fort Meyers, a well protected inside run down to Boca Grande and to Useppa, Captiva, Sanibel, Pine Island and on to Ft Meyersif the weather is sketchy.

If coming from the North, I wouldn't recommend attempting to get into the intercoastal from Stump Pass in a big boat unless the weather is perfect and sun at your back.

Stump Pass changes weekely with shoaling and big current runs through very narrow channel. Can be done with someone on the bow watching for you....but it's not easy if the weather is blowing - I recommend continuing on south to Boca Grande Pass if you feel conditions wont allow entry.

On a calm sunny worries....go slow. Sandy bottom. Soft landing.

Great Stop, 2014-02-24
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

Excellent stop and well protected from weather. We spent a week here and were able to explore outer areas by dingy while leaving the boat at the marina
Great rate although no cable TV and only a single washer and dryer.
Definitely would stop here again

Well Worth the Stop, 2014-02-23
Captain: , St. Petersburgs (40)

We were greeted by a pleasant-energetic dock master named Bill who took us for a grand tour of the facility to include the restaurant (Waterside Grille) - great seafood. After the tour he left us a golf cart for free, which was fortunate because except for the head, showers, picnic area, and Captain’s lounge all other amenities are long walk. At check-in the office gave us coupons for 10% off for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Waterside. The desk manager graciously offered us his car to go to the Publix 3 miles away. A mile walk the next day took us to the Placida Fishery that included a Fish Market, Seafood Restaurant and several art shops.

Great Stop!, 2014-02-17
Captain: , Iuka, Mississippi (10)

We stayed two nights on their floating dock. We'll marked channel leading into the the marina off the ICW. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent restaurant on site. Publix Market 2.5 miles.

Friendly Marina, 2014-02-04
Captain: , Newcastle upon Tyne (463)

Stayed here one night on route to Sanibel, great restrooms and laundry, ok restaurant and bar, friendly staff. $1.50 per foot during the week, including power. Water on dock, good laundry and great showers - a full wet room. 3 cheers for American plumbers! Not much else nearby.

Go Elsewhere, 2013-11-08
Captain: , Port Isabel, TX (60)

If you stay a night or 2, it's okay. Only small c-store and restaurant. Provisioning is a nightmare....closest anything about 8 miles away. Nothing to do and boring. Friend had work done at yard....took them 7 months and never fixed the problem. Heard no wifi on site now. Glad we left...couldn't wait to get out of there. Bathrooms were nice according to husband. I showered on boat. I walk with a cane and it was way too far for me to walk. Staff was friendly, but not for the long-stay cruiser AND don't have work done in the boat yard. Our friends went through quite an ordeal.

Awesome!!!, 2013-08-27
Captain: , Dunedin (61)

We only stayed one night, but everything was AMAZING!!! Bill took us for a tour of the entire facility, and left us a golf cart to use for our stay. The restaurant is great, and the beer is cold. We would make a trip back down just to stay here again! Cleanest showers and restrooms we have ever seen while boating.

very accomodating, 2013-04-26
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (80)

Had to come in for haul out for cutlass bearing replacement. Staff very helpful and maintenance staff did excellent work. Love the showers! Restaurant quite good. WiFi in cruisers' lounge but they are trying to expand it to whole marina.

Good Place, 2013-04-21
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

For a deep draft boat that is slow go, this is the perfect stopping point between Naples/Sarasota and Fort Meyers. Easy approach, large fairways and very helpful staff. Mostly a dry storage facility, but there is plenty of slips even for larger boats. Walk to opffice can be quite long as you have to go all the way around but other than that, I found the place quite accomodating. Will Return.

Eddy J's review, 2013-01-16
Captain: , Navarre, FL (40)

The best shower room we've seen yet! Overall a very nice, clean, quiet and organized marina. Publix is about a 3 mile walk (one way), but no courtesy car or bikes available.
A good place for an overnight stop if you need fuel, water, and a "real" shower!

Great Yard and Restaurant, 2012-11-21
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL. (251)

Good quality work at a fair price in the yard. The restaurant is terriffic with good food and cold adult beverages.

Marina and Ingman Marine Service, 2012-07-27
Captain: , Pt Charlotte, FL (10)

We had our boat serviced at Ingman Marine and dinner at the Marina's diner. Cobb salads were large, fresh and delicious. Ingman gives 15% of discount coupons to their customers for the diner.

We bought gas at the fuel dock and the crew provided excllent service. We will return

Good service, few amenities, 2012-06-12
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (592)

Got towed in here after a voltage regulator failure. They didn't charge me to keep the boat there for 2 weeks while they ordered and installed a new regulator and troubleshot the electrical system. Good comunication. Good, quality work. Reasonable rates.

I would not highly recomend this facility as a transient stop. It's a boat storage facility with 0 ambiance. Clean showers and a restaurant on site, but that's it. Too far to the beach, no pool, and no view of anything but a huge boat storage building! Continue up to Palm Island or down to Boca Grande.

Five Star Service, 2012-06-08
Captain: , Hudson (274)

We got here in need of some repair work. Had to have the mast removed to get the work done. You could not find a more efficient group than the folks at Gasparilla Marina Service Center. The manager Capt. John got the needed parts and lined up the necessary equipment and people. Then between the foul weather got it done. Lori took care of the paper work and we were off again. Jeff and the marina staff helped make our stay a pleasant one. They also have free coffee and wifi. The restaurant service was excellant as was the food. This will definately be a stopping point for us while we travel.

Very Friendly and Accommodating, 2012-04-13
Captain: , Twin Dolphin Marina (271)

Came in late in the day with no reservation and was provided a slip at a very reasonable rate. Deep enough for our 5'10" draft, and the marina restaurant was fantastic. We didn't use the marina shower facilities or restrooms so I can't comment on them, but the marian itself was well kept. Overall, a very good experience.

Nice Marina, friendly staff, 2012-03-01
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

Had a nice night at this marina. We were put on the end of E dock which had a lot of rack storage boats going in and out, but, everyone obeyed "no wake" so it was a pleasent stay. Super friendly gentlemen named Jim worked the ships store and Marina and was very helpful. We had a couple that rode with us up from Boca Grande for a day cruise that needed to get a ride back to their car. Bill, the "CEO" volunteered to give them a lift! Talk about full, excellent service!

Transient Dockage, 2011-04-03
Captain: , Aquia Harbour, VA (1177)

We only spent one night but had a nice experience. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We were put on the T of a floating dock. Good food at the Bar and Grille but very noisey. Nice ships store.

One of the Best, 2011-02-23
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (334)

Went in with a club(11 boats)for 3 nights. Everyone on staff bent over backwards to make our stay great. They really seemed to want groups which has become unusual lately. We will be back.

Service Department, 2011-02-14
Captain: , Vancouver BC (500)

Needed cutlass brngs done was promised 2 days for app't. mechanic got hurt, promised replacement..but then was told..will show up when we feel like it..also said they could trim off the cone on the strut to remove cutlass..not a good idea as would remove part of the lower strut...bad attitude by that departments a leased space by the Marina...we went elsewhere...

Good overnight facility, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Shelton, Ct (70)

Date: 2/2/11
Captain: Al da Silva MY CASAMAR, Huntington, CT

Great staff. Very helpfull. The marina is mailnly a storage facility accommodating over 600 boats. Good for over night stay.

Great Facility, 2010-05-19
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

We love this facility, especially for its store and restaurant. They server breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you can tie up at 6am, get some good food and hit the water for the day! The store has all the basic essentials you need for a day on the water.

Helpful friendly staff. Have not stayed overnight there, but we always stop for "stuff".

March 2010, 2010-04-15
Captain: , Safety Harbor, FL (102)

A safe, but not great transient facility. Nice folks, great restaurant and good if you have bikes. A new bridge is under construction to Gasparilla Is. and there is a bike path after you cross the bridge all the way to Boca Grand. The old bridge is has NO bike path. The marina has 26 Ton fork lift and travel lift with good repair capability.

Can solve almost anything!, 2009-07-02
Captain: , Venice, FL (85)

Great hurricane storage building. Helpful and knowledgeable. Good service on both gas and diesel. Easy in and out.
Plenty of depth.
Great restraunt "Fishery" next channel over deep and can handle 40' easy!!

A Repeated Stop, 2009-06-05
Captain: , Memphis TN (977)

Stayed here in April '08 and again in Dec '09. Big marina with all services. Slip prices on the high side. Deep water and several T-docks. There is a great seafood restaurant a short walk across the bridge, not open on Mondays.

Great spot, 2009-04-22
Captain: , Sarasota (371)

Big, and it can be a hike from your dock to the office, but the peole are terrific and lots of deep water. We would stop there again. Showers good, no wi-fi at our slip.

Gaspirilla Marina, 2007-04-15
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (94)

Boat yard combined with large dry storage marina and large new boat dealership. Som transient docks available. Complete marina services available. Have found that the staff is competent and the prices fair. 4/15/07
