Reviews for Gamage Shipyard
Great place to visit, Great place for work, 2016-10-03
Captain: , South Bristol, ME (10)

Gamage shipyard has seen a great number of changes over the past several years. Mike Tatro, the yard manager for the past 1-1/2 years, inherited a small but dedicated and experienced staff. He has since expanded the group and Gamages' capabilities have expanded with them. If you're looking for any kind of expert and attentive work on your boat, then this is the place to go. Under Mike's guidance I started on a major refit of my Alden 44 and since then the boat has been repowered, re-decked with teak, and awlgripped. Also, many other systems were installed including a watermaker, new reefer, and numerous electronics. Not only was all the work done to the highest standard, the personal and friendly attitude by all involved was something I haven't experienced at any other yard in the 20 years that I've owned the boat.

Even if you're not looking for repairs, South Bristol/Gamages is a not to be missed stop on the Mid-Coast. Besides moorings and slips, the yard has a new reception area with heads, showers, laundry, and even a fireplace. Despite what the the cover sheet says, wi-fi is available as well as some parts and supplies. Additionally, provisions are in easy walking distance. During the summer season you can find a fine selection of groceries along with fresh baked muffins and popovers at the Island Grocery. Year round, both Harborside and Osiers have some basics as well as lunch counters. Osiers also sells lobsters and clams as does the Coop. And for those who don't mind a little longer walk (1-1/2 miles) along the river, the Coveside Bar/Restaurant serves excellent lunches and dinners.

Whether you need repairs or just a beautiful spot to relax, I highly recommend Gamages at the Gut in South Bristol.

Great Folks, 2015-08-18

These people know how to run a marina. Their concern is always for their customer. Mike manages the place and all his people have the same outgoing friendly attitude that he does. Pam is special. Friendly (she drove us in their car to town 13 miles away with a smile). After being involved with big Cape Cod marinas this was an absolute pleasure. We are storing our American Tug in their new heated indoor storage facility. I highly recommend Gamage Shipyard

Good location, resonable rates, big wakes at moorings, 2010-08-17
Captain: , York, ME (1880)

2nd best fuel price in the area, easy to get to, both slips and moorings more reasonable than some other local choices. Moorings were just outside the no-wake buoy, local tradition is to gun it (or take it down off plane) right next to these moorings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bit of a walk to the restaurants up near the bridge, or maybe you could take the dinghy there.

One of the best places to buy fuel. Slips are available as well. Long face dock.
