Reviews for Galleon Resort Marina
Nice Marina, 2017-07-16
Captain: , Apollo Beach - Tampa, FL (361)

Sailed in from Ft. Myers and had a nice enjoyable 3 day stay in April 2017. Very pricy slip fees. Excellent clean floating docks, nice facilities, and very nice dockmaster and staff. Bathrooms were so-so and are the same for the public area. Showers are nice. Sauna was out-of-order. Great location to downtown Key West. Would stay again.

Wonderful staff and nice ammenities, 2017-04-30
Captain: , Apollo Beach (542)

Worth a few extra dollars. We took advantage of all the ammenities including the laundry. Staff was very helpful. Roof top observation at sunset was a bonus. Perfect location to get right into the action.

Loved it here, 2017-04-27
Captain: , Bedford, NH (775)

We arrived 4/14 and stayed until 4/17. We arrived on a very windy day (15 to 20 knots). Maneuvering can be tight in the marina and the slips are very tight although there are finger piers on each side of you. We arrived with 2 other boats and one of them couldn't back in because of the wind and the very tight slip. Had to wait till evening to turn the boat around with help from Sea Tow. Dock was too low for their boarding ladder. The dock staff is right there to help. Plenty of water in the basin. Never saw less than 10 feet. Floating docks are in great shape. Didn't use all the facilities available to the marina guests. Will provide you with towels to use aboard or at the pool. Not a cheap place to stay but you can't beat the location and it is worth it. Right in town but quiet at night (except for the wind howling through the marina). Many things in walking distance and you can rent a golf cart to go further. They are allowed on the streets. Not really pet friendly. They don't even want the dogs to walk across the resort property to get off the docks. Stay on the boardwalk along the docks and you should be fine. Not really any grass for your furry friends to use. There is a pretty nice dog park but you need the golf cart for that as it is on the Atlantic side of the island. Looking forward to returning again. So much to do here!

Very Nice Spot, 2017-04-06
Captain: , st petersburg, fl (889)

Nice resort type marina with decent food on site.

Very Nice marina, worth a visit., 2017-02-24
Captain: , Panama City, FL (200)

Ran down from Tampa for a weekend visit. The marina is quite nice. Floating docks, very professional and helpful staff, well maintained. Staying at the marina gets one access to the resort for use of the pool, hot tub, Tiki Bar, etc. The showers are accessed with a combination pad, small but nice and clean. The toilets available for marina guests are the ones at the swimming pool and tiki bar. They get busy during the day with kids and in the evening with bar patrons. I would have given the fith star if there were more private facilities available for marina guests. It's a small inconvienience and not insurmountable. The location is ideal for KW, right off Duval yet still quiet in the evenings.

Great staff, good facilities, a little tight, 2017-01-03
Captain: , Washington, DC (60)

The team at Galleon was professional and warm, and the facilities are solid - wifi, showers, laundry, etc. Easy walk to Duval St, but not so close that we got any significant night noise. The only real downside - and not unique to Galleon really - is that this marina is pretty darn tight in some places. We're relative novices to tight marinas, and sweated it a little, though the staff was very helpful in getting us in and out.

Nice marina, off the beaten path, 2016-12-11
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (523)

Very nice cozy marina far enough from Duval that you don't feel on top of the action. Docks are nice and in good repair, staff was very friendly. Would stay here again!

Excellent Attentive Cordial Service, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Treasure Island, FL (10)

Just spent 5 days at Galleon. Dock Master Cindy and the two gents who's names I forgot we're so upbeat and positive. What ever needs or questions were answered. Docks are well maintained, in slip pump out, and long finger piers on the floating docks. The pool, tiki bar, and downtown location are added benefits.

Great stop, 2016-04-26
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1145)

The docks are floating and in great shape - along with the Wifi, heads, grounds, pool, tiki bar and staff. If you can, don't stay on the first row of slips. There is a lot of foot traffic between tourists and those using the the jet skiis. Ask for a slip on the next dock.

Like to be near the party?, 2016-04-04
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

Spent 8 days in early March due to the weather. The marina did a great job of dealing with not only us but a bunch of boaters "stuck" in Key West because of high winds. The marina is in great condition, floating docks, good service and all of the ammenities of the Galleon Resort.

The only reason for not giving it five stars is the volumne of sightseers up and down the docks.

If you like to be in the middle of lots of restaurants and bars this your place.

Best Value in the Bight, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (728)

Stayed here 3/3-13/2016 and won't go to any other marina in Key West after this visit.

Yes it is expensive but if you've already decided to come to Key West this is the place to stay. The newer floating docks and fantastic staff made the stay very enjoyable. When bad weather was forecast for the week, a long weekend turned into a 10 night stay and they were very helpful in working with us. The use of all the resort amenities made being "stuck" here all the better.

I will say, the fairways are a bit tight for the size boats they squeeze in here but they will help you in and out in any way possible. We will stay here again next time through for sure!

Bit pricy but well worth it, 2016-03-12
Captain: , solomons md (200)

We stayed here six weeks and could have stayed the whole winter. Dock Master Tom and assistant Cindy and the staff couldn't have been nicer of more professional. Cindy especially looked out for us by alerting us to cancellations that enabled us to extend our stay an extea month. The marina is very pet friendly but the resort is another story. If your careful with your pet and stay clear of resort property your ok. If you plan for an extended stay make reservations very early. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best place to stay in Key West.

If you are looking for the best marina that is right on the edge of downtown Key West then Galleon is the place. Easy walking distance to Duval Street, mallory Sq, restaurants, supermarket, etc.
The staff at the Marina is excellent, the docks are floating and in excellent condition, pump out at each slip is very convenient If they located you on the slips right behind the breakwater it can be a challenge getting in and out depending on the wind.
They have a pool that is very nice but this is utilized by the people who stay at the time sharing resort so it is very crowded and lounge chairs in the sun are usually not available.
The laundry facility is poor very small, not maintained, old machines, dryers that really don't dry, no folding table, l!!
The men's shower room is a nice facility but the A/C did not work for the entire 2 months we were here. I reported it numerous times to Resort staff but nothing was done.
Very expensive: $ 66 per foot per month and an up charge to $ 4.75 per foot for Jan Race Week. Don't stay during race week it is not enjoyable and you pay an up charge $$$.The racers take over the docks -- not enjoyable!
If you want location and willing to pay the $$$$ then this place is for you

Stayed 5 days and will not go back. The resort is great and the views are spectacular. I have seldom encountered a more pet UNFRIENDLy marina. The resort does not allow pets to walk even through the parking garage. When you walk your pet up the docks you have to walk past the resort, if your pet cannot tell if a bush is resort property or city property; staff chastises. We arrived just before dark and the fuel dock was closed. First thing the next morning I walked to dockmaster office to settle up and ask for pump out . I was chastised for entering the slip without first getting a pump out. I was given a copy of marina rules which state "pump out required within 24 hours of arrival".i pointed this out to the attendant who repeated that they do not want boats entering their slips without first pumping out. I simply said that had pump out been available upon arrival, we would have requested one. We loved Key West but found this marina very unfriendly. The pet policy was ridiculous! We are, by the way , meticulous about cleaning up after our leashed and properly trained 2 small dogs.

Very Nice - Great Location, 2015-05-19

May 2015 update

A well cared for marina but the amenities are worn. The washer/dryer did not work well ($2 per cycle). It took 3 cycles to dry one of our loads - 2 hours. The showes are clean bout have low water pressure.

There is a grocery market within walking distance called Fausto's at 522 Fleming Street. Good slection but high prices.

BE AWARE the marina will charge increased rates during special events. We had to pay $4.60 per ft. becasue of a regatta.

The location of this facility is in the heart of everything in Key West.

May 2013 update

We stayed here again for 4 days. Very nice facility. However, with the exception of the dock staff the resort employees are extremely rude. My wife and I both had encounters with staff that made us wonder how the heck these folks manage to keep their jobs. If they don't like people, then why are they in the hospitality business?

(previous posting)
We had a very nice experience here. We were rounding the keys and needed to stop for a quick repair (top of the mast). I contacted them by sat phone to asked if they had space available for one night. They made room for us and respected the fact I was on a sat phone. They kept it short and didn't ask for all the contact and credit info etc.
Upon arrival, they met us at the dock and fully assisted with the tie up. We made the repair and we off again the next day.
The bathrooms were clean and nearby. The dock is a little wobbly in spots - be careful.
A little pricy, but you can't beat the location. We'll be sure to come back for a longer stay on our way out of the Gulf.
The Marina is also close to A and B Fuel.

Excellent protection and fine floating docks, 2015-05-04
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1344)

The Galleon has been "the place" for deep-pocketed cruisers for years, and its reputation is well deserved. Location, location, location! It's just steps from Mallory Square and all of downtown Key West, the floating docks are terrific--most slips offer piers on both sides of your boat, and the electric and cable TV are solid. The marina is well protected from prevailing winds and, in fact, from wind and sea from all directions.

That said, the welcome was just so-so, no bag or basket of goodies on check-in, no advice on where to go or what to see, and a very pricey marina, especially if you come for one of the many "high rate" specials. We happened to be there for the Conch Repuiblic celebration, so there was a three-day minimum with boosted rates, all explained to use when we made reservations.

Still, if you want the best marina in Key West, this is your place.

We agree with all the good things stated in previous reviews. The Dock master was wonderfully helpful to us when we called to let them know we were having engine trouble and would need to dock on one engine. They gave us an easy slip and were there to help us using our lines to guide us in. They recommended an excellent mechanic who was able to quickly provide service. A good end to a difficult day! We enjoyed our time at Galleon and will return if we are in the area in the future. Note: this is a busy place; reservations are important!

Floating docks with side ties, pool, hot tub, free towels, bar and restaurant on site, close to Duval St. Good sunsets form the bar. Docks are clean and well kept. Worth the price considering all u get.

Nice Place, 2014-12-08
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

Yes, this marina is expensive, but it's so very close to everything Key West that my wife and I heartily recommend the Galleon. We are staying here close to the action for a couple of nights and then returning to Marathon.

Expensive but Fabulous, 2014-03-16
Captain: , Somers Point (460)

Spent a week here. I am 53 ft LOA with a beam of 18. If you are that size you need to request an outside slip. The inner slips are narrow with narrow fairways. The town is a simple walk and almost anything you need you can walk to and get. Dockmaster has fantastic local knowledge. Tiki Hut is fun. Long walk to restrooms and shower but they are clean and not much of a wait to use. It is more costly but I will return to here again. Great location.

Great place to dock., 2014-03-10
Captain: , Key Colony Beach (130)

The Galleon Tiki Bar was recently remodeled. They hve good music most night, with Clint Bullard playing. An excellent songwriter, and all around good guy. Food is decent.

Nice location, close enough to lower duval to walk, far enough away, to avoid the crazies.

Great location, 2013-07-20
Captain: , Indian Rocks Beach (296)

Good floating docks with a helpful staff and onsite facilities located in the heart of old Town Key West. They don't get a 5 star though because their shower room needs work. There is no restrooms with the showers, so you have to walk to another area for that that is used by the pool patrons. The floor is very, very slippery when wet, there is no real place to put your stuff while you shower and there is no private area to dress and undress. If you don't need the showers though, you will love the place. Nice pool and tiki bar overlooking the water with good happy hour specials each day.

Protected Water, Great staff, could use some improvements, 2013-05-28
Captain: , Huntsville, Alabama (41)

Windy as heck while I was here and I never felt a ripple. Great staff, especially Erik. We popped in with no reservations, on Memorial Day weekend and he worked us in. There are a couple of areas where I think the facility could improve. WiFi is aweful, near useless. Restrooms are public and used by the beach area patrons, pool patrons, and bar patrons. They can be quite a mess at times. The showers are private, code locked, and kept very clean.

In the thick of things & worth it., 2013-05-22
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (186)

The break-water really protects this place. We had engine problems when leaving and the wonderful staff made room for us in another slip just inside the break-water. We didn't even see a ripple. The proximity to things to see and do in Key West is great. Too many restaurants nearby to name (note: on-site food at marina is good too, as as the tiki bars). Thanks to Erik in the dockmaster's office for fitting us back in and thanks to John for all of his help. We will be back. The fuel dock at Conch Harbor will give you a $.10/gallon discount if you're staying at Galleon.

Key West delight, 2013-04-27
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (960)

Helpful staff. Expensive, but it is Key West in the heart of the , action! Harborwalk. Duval Street, Mallory Square at your fingertips. Pool nice but crowded, as shared with the timeshare resort. Pool towels provided. Only one washer/dryer. Biking ok early in AM before traffic. Nice biking/jogging path along the south shore. Walk to hop on-hop off Trolley Tours which takes you to all the venues you might want to see. Deli onsight. Key West Hardware short walk-- a must visit even if you don't need anything. Also West Marine close.

Ideal Location , 2013-04-04

Great location, easy access, close to West Marine and Key West Marine Hardware. Fuel next door at A & B Marine just before reaching Galleon. Convenient, easy walk to Duvall St and Mallory Square. Try the Rooftop Restaurant-great food. Above average amenities at the resort and a great staff. Thank you Suzy!

Captain: , Aventura, Florida (330)

The staff is very helpful. The floating docks are in good condition. You are located a few short blocks from downtown Key West. The resort does not allow dogs on the grouinds but there is places to walk them. Will be back.

Most convenient in Key West, 2012-10-03
Captain: , charleston (831)

Location is fantastic. Great floating docks in good condition. Friendly and helpful staff. Pool, laundry, wifi -- all you could ask for. Not as noisy or prone to wake action as other marinas. Pricey but we arrived on last day of September and got the reduced Sept. rate. Would stay here again even at $3.50 a foot. Grocery shopping at Faustos Food Palace is within easy walk. Take the Conch Tour Train for great overview of Key West.

Pretty Tight Fit, 2012-03-21
Captain: , Austin Texas (120)

We really enjoyed our stay at this mariina. When we came into the marina the slip they put us in was about a foot too narrow but we squeezed in and tied up. Great access to Key West activities. Can walk to West Marine and a number of restaurants. Never seen a place with so many bars, they are everywhere.

Nice Marina, Nice People, Cruise ships have ruined Key West, 2009-03-02
Captain: , Stuart, FL (426)

If I ever wanted to visit Key West Again, I'd stay here. Pricey, but nice people and nice facilities. WIFI not included and should be at this price. The city itself stinks. Cruise ships have ruined this destination. Don't waste your time.

Updated Showers, 2008-07-16
Captain: , Bonita Springs (484)

Showers and restroom have been renovated. The showers are nicer now. Bathrooms too but they are shared with the pool, bar, jet ski operators and general public so not private and often crowded. $3.50/ft and $4.25/ft for special occasions (fantasy fest, lobster mini-season etc.) Great location though and includes access to pool and gym.

Great staff, good location, calm marina, 2008-02-29
Captain: , Kiawah Island, SC (152)

KW Bight can be rocky at times and Galleon is in a position where it is protected from the waves and current.

The staff are all very accomodating and will to help both coming in to dock and also to throw lines when you leave. They will give you any answers you need with a willing response.

The location is great since you are within walking distance of everything. There is a good grocery store in the area and restaurants are plentiful. You also have use of the hotel facilities which means a pool, bar, and a rooftop to watch the sunset without enduring the masses at Mallory Square.

It is more expensive than the rest but well worth it.

Dirty Bathrooms and Don't bring your dog!, 2007-08-03

We paid $3.75 a foot. The docks are very nice. Location is the best. Bathrooms are small, dirty, and shared with all the hotel pool guests. Don't bring your dog. They won't let you have him on hotel property.

Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (258)

I've been here perhaps ten times, at times as long as two months. The rates are higher than some others but in realestate we all know its location location location.

Approach is round the jetty, hang it to starboard and back her in. yes, it's that stright forward. The docks are floating and well maintained and you can tie up piano wire tight. The docks were replaced some two years ago. Service is great. Internet is for a fee, water and all electric is dockside. Fuel is at AandB or Conch Harbor both in Key West Bight.

The pool is small but nice, the only food service at the facility is a small deli by the harbormaster's office located along the elevated docks at the foot of the piers. Great breakfast sandwichs.

Now, tie up and get dreased real casual and go on the town ... wake up three days later on a swing in the park! It's Key West!

Rent jet skis and book all manner of water sports including charter fishing with the water sports center at the foot of the docks.

The Galleon is quiet as Key West can be at night, no surge or current.

Walk down Front Street to Duval and start your crawl. Rent electric carts to shop, search and see, but for just a Duval Crawl walk so you won't loose your cart to dead brain cell memory loss, and at night they are a pain to find a place to park.

If you want to stay shoreside, The Galleon has very nice hotel rooms and suites as well.

Been there many times, great location, Duval Street is just a few blocks away (bars & restaurants) and your located in Key West Bight (bars & restaurants). Only negative are the bath and shower facilities. Not what you would expect for what you pay.
