Reviews for Gaines Marina
Good place to stop before Canada, 2016-08-22
Captain: , Richmond Hills, GA (200)

We had planned to stay at the other marina in Rouses Point but stopped here for fuel - $2.99/gallon for diesel here and $3.26 at the other. When we met a fellow Looper, we decided to stay, and we definitely made the right choice. Clean restrooms and excellent showers (a bit of a walk from the docks, but we've seen longer ones) and friendly, helpful staff. One of the dockhands even came aboard and pulled away the Lake Champlain weeds low water weeds away. They fueled us efficiently, met us at our slip to catch our lines and secured them plus connected our shore power. The owner Naomi came down to make sure everything was going well when we were fueling, and her warmth and welcoming smile helped us decide to stay.

An Excellent First Stop in the USA. , 2016-07-22

Professional, helpful, friendly, competent. Had mail and a part waiting for us. A lift to Plattsburgh 35 min away to pick up a rental there! Scheduled a and installed a part on short notice. Top mechanic Mark. Note that docks farthest out are uncomfortable in a S blow.

Convenient stop before entering Canada, 2016-06-22
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2073)

6-14-16 Stayed here one night to top off water and pump out before crossing into Canada. We made reservations ahead of time but could not raise anyone on the radio when arriving at the marina. Called on the cell phone and was instructed where to tie up, but no assistance from the dock in very windy conditions. When leaving the next morning, the dock staff was very helpful with our pump out and assisting at the dock.

Stayed the night of Oct. 4 bringing our new boat down from Canada. Owners and staff are wonderful. Very protected marina. Let us stay at the fuel dock overnight as we were leaving early. Owner even lent us his new truck to go for dinner and he used the old one. Would make this my home marina if we lived here.

Id stay here for the season, 2015-07-14

If I was a local this would be my home port. Staff and owners could not be nicer. My wife had a small medical issure that required seeing a doctor and obtaining a pewrscription. The owner loand us her new car to go to the clinic. The marina was 5 star and so are the people.

What others have said I can re-afferm

Good Stop, 2015-06-23
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

5-28-15 - In for one night while northbound. Well marked approach. Fuel dock is inside to port by office and travel lift. Courteous dock staff. Floating docks. Was buggy the day were were there. little gnats. Messy. May have just been time of year. Easy walk to town restaurants, Dollar store, etc. Dog friendly with nice city waterfront park. Church bells across the road from marina were a pleasant addition. Mooring field looked really exposed. Boat out on the hook were rocking and rolling.

Outstanding Marina, 2015-06-15
Captain: , Portsmouth, VA (430)

Stopped here before entering Canada, on the Loop for the 3rd time. Marina was responsive to calls, arrangements for docking, services. A well maintained attractive marina with very helpful staff and owners. One of if not the best marina we have visited since departing Portsmouth, VA on our third LOOP

Excellent full Service Boatyard and Marina, 2014-10-10
Captain: , Doylestown, Pa. 18902 (414)

We were here in early October 2014. We stored our truck and trailer here while boated up the Hudson etc from NYC. They have gas and diesel and are capable of complete boat service. Nice showers and decent gas prices for New York. Just below the U.S. and Candian custom docks. Beautiful town, free boat ramp with in walking distance. We had some work down on our trailer and their work is first class.Covered Storage available either heated or not. First class Operation

Very good experience there. I winterrized my sail boat at Gaines and will return there next winter. Everythig went smoothly. Joe and Naomie are great. It is easy to communicate with the marina via email any time. Good place for an extented sailing season. You can haul out in late October and launch early May.

super site super staff, all new amenaties, need something done on site no problem Jo Treadwell the owner will bend over backward for ya, he should be classed as a super human this man just's keeps on going, would not concider leaving this place for no reason Norm.

Very nice facility, 2013-09-06
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Nicest marina we stayed at north of NYC. They have a side-tie within the marina - not on the outside. Very accomodating and helpful staff. Would consider having work done here after bad experiences elsewhere on Lake C. May have heated winter storage in future. Stayed here five years ago under previous management - what an improvement!

Very friendly marina, 2013-08-07
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

We left our boat here for a week while we attended to some family functions. Good weekly rate and Joe looks after your boat. Very freindly staff. Heads are new and clean, the ship store has decent stock. They helped us get our rental car for the drive home as well as the return. They are adding to the marina which is nice to see with so many marinas dying. Good grocery store but it is a hike. There are local restaurants within walking distance and some shops and ice cream.

Nice place, great people., 2013-07-11

Wonderful Stopover, 2013-07-07
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

The place is all new within the past 3-4 years. Docks are stable and in excellent repair. The staff is friendly, courteous, and knowledgable. The laundramat is a couple of blocks away, and the ice cream stand only a few more blocks. We would stay there again.

Great marina, 2013-07-06

About the best marina in the north of Lake Champlain, 2013-01-25
Captain: , Montreal (80)

Been there for two seasons. Joe and Naomie are great owners and were able to find great employees that make you feel like part of the familly instead of a client. Fair price, great service, nice people and brand new showers. They keep investing to make their marina greater while it is pretty much already the best.

We will miss this place and these people!

What a nice place / peoples, 2012-09-17

We just had our sailboat to Gaines for winter storage.
Noemi and Joe are very nice peoples, and all the staff working there.
They all make sure that you are happy and everything meet your expectation, and even more.
Place is very clean, well maintained.

So many improvements since 2009, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Montreal,Quebec, Canada (10)

I have had a slip at Gaines Marina for about 8 years, Not much changed until Joe and Naomi Treadwell bought the marina in 2009. Since then everything has been improved. New washrooms, new docks, the addition of maintenance facilities, gas dock improvments. Just about everything has been improved. They bought the old antique lights that were on the main steet in Rouses Point and installed them at the marina. Now day and night the marina is postcard perfect. It'is also right in town. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores. As much as I like the location, minutes from the Canadian border and Vermont, it's the owners that truely make it special. Just nice friendly people. You will see Joe going up and down the docks stopping at the boats and talking to people. Naomi always has a smile and a friendly greeting when we visit the store. It's just a wonderful place to keep your boat during the summer.

A "MUST STAY" marina !, 2012-06-15
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

This is absolutely the best marina we have been too since North Point Marina in Rock Hall MD. Similar to North Point, Gaines Marina is run by a husband and wife team Joe and Naomi. Their son, who is a nice well mannered gentleman and a friendly guy, works here running the travel lift.
ALL brand new docks....CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. This place is spit polish shine clean. Very nice people. Naomi loaned us her van to go to the Price Chopper grocery store. Town is right here a very short wallk to the laundromat and several restaurants. I highly recommend THIS marina to provision well before entering Canada. Price is reasonable too.
I would rate this marina 10 STARS if there was such a thing !

Great service with a smile., 2012-06-11
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

Now this is my kind of place. Mom and Pop owned and operated. The Gaines family is doing a great job with this marina. After a call on the VHF we were met at the dock for fuel and Mrs Gaines was very gracious and let us move back a bit on the dock while we made a trip into town for breakfast and some supplies. They are continuing to rebuild and add dockage after last years storms.

Great Marina, 2011-02-17
Captain: , Gaines Marina, Rouses Point, NY (86)

The marina is located in the small village Roses Point, so all facilities in walking distance. Owners are very pleasant and always ready to help. Clean restroom & showers, but no close to the docks, as would like to. Pay attention, when approaching the marina at night, red flashing light on the mall is much far away from the end, as it must be (port side). But overall is an excellent place to keep your boat during the season.

Rural and quiet, 2009-08-29
Captain: , Lewes, DE (2517)

Joe and Naomi just bought this marina in Mar 2009 and have added boat reairs to their services. They are extremely friendly and will help in any way they can. We stayed over to enjoy their lobster festival and the friendly town.
