Reviews for Fredericton Yacht Club - Douglas Harbour Facility
An update in 2014, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Stratham (273)

Douglas Harbor and the Fredericton Boat Club is very nice given the remote nature of cruising on the St. John River. Club house is open and has a screen porch and free showers. The convenience store a few minutes away also has a laundromat. A new vegetable stand is next to the store. The farmer made the lumber in his own sawmill. There are no marinas per se on Grand Lake, you need to be self reliant.

Douglas Harbour FYC Facility, 2009-11-17
Captain: , St. Andrews, New Brunswick (435)

Douglas is a relatively large harbour (by Grand Lake standards) wherein there are many privately owned moorings. In addition there are several moorings available for guests. There is a large concrete wharf with a self serve pumpout station. You may anchor at the wharf for short periods free of charge while you walk 5 minutes to the convenience store which carries many necessities and is a New Brunswick Liquor outlet. (I did say necessities right?) They also have fuel pumps dispensing both gas and diesel.

The moorings are well protected from the weather and sheltered from the wind and wave action which frequently blows up in the afternoons on the main body of the lake.

It is quite scenic and the "regulars" are very friendly, often enjoying an evening bonfire on the wharf itself.

Guests can pay the mooring fee at the Convenience store.

This harbour is a great base station from which to explore the rest of Grand Lake.
