Reviews for Foss Harbor Marina
Long-term tenants, 2015-01-21
Captain: , Maple Valley (50)

We have moored 4 different vessels at Foss Harbor Marina over the past 13 years or so, and we have no interest in changing.

During our time I have witnessed multiple welcome upgrades to the facilities. There are multiple bathrooms for both men and women, decent laundry facilities, and a convenient store for ice, drinks, snacks, fishing gear, and small supplies.

The docks are all relatively new, solid, clean, and wide. There is power and cable available to every slip, and a portable pump-out service is included in slip fees.

The location is very convenient with easy access off the freeways. It's a short, easy walk to the Tacoma museum district.

Parking can be an issue however, especially during summer holidays, festivals, and large events. They no longer offer temporary passes, which can be an issue on long weekend trips with family or friends.

The staff is great, and really do an excellent job getting the marina together for things like movies and BBQs throughout the year.

Foss Harbor Marina has about 70 live aboard, but you would never know it. It can be loud at times with the trains, freeway and refinery close by. It is conveniently located on Dock Street with restaurants close by and a short walk to down town Tacoma. Staff is friendly and the Marina store is well stocked including a good selection of beer and wine.

Spent 2 nights here. Close to town with a free rail car to take you to some interesting places Marina people were freindly. Docks could be kept a little cleaner. Fairly noisy during the day with all the city noise and the train does run right my the marina day and nite, but never heard a whistle. We were one of the closest slips to the marina office and they were doing construcion work diggin up some lines which was pretty noisy during the day. Marina did offer to move us but beings it was day time only we stayed where we were.

Excellent liveaboard, 2014-03-05

We're living there currently and the staff have been very helpful. Wi-fi is only available in the lounge or possibly if your boat is berthed very close to the facility. Laundry facilities are small, but functional. Ship store has all the basics. Downtown is VERY convenient - just climb the stairs on the bridge and you're in downtown Tacoma.

Wonderful, friendly place, 2012-08-03

We often come here for a few days. Even spent winter '10-'11 here. Staff is wonderful and extremely helpful. Every time we show up there is an additional amenity. Last spring was a completely refurbished lounge with large screen tv and great kitchen facilities. Also Sat night themed wine-tasting parties (bring a bottle for admission). Heading back in a few days - wonder what they'll have new.
Current runs through there - best to dock at slack tide.
