Reviews for Fort Rachel Marina
Great stay @ Fort Rachel, 2017-08-07
Captain: , New Bedford, MA (40)

Stayed at Ft. Rachel July 27-31, 2017. Awesome stay. The marina staff was terrific. They were waiting on the dock for us when we arrived, helped us tie up and came down a few times during our stay to see if we needed anything. Extremely accommodating. The office had a bag of goodies for us including WiFi and restrooms codes. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. There are grills and picnic tables available which we took advantage off. The marina is tucked behind the RR bridge wall and is very protected in weather which we did experience one day when the wind really kicked up. The area is residential and small business in older homes and the yards are beautifully landscaped for you to enjoy the short walk to downtown. Even closer is the Captain Daniel Packer Inn &Tavern and Friar Tucks Pub. A dinghy is a must in Mystic. There are so many coves and places to stop and grab a bite to eat while you explore. We will definitely stay at Fort Rachel again. Looking forward to next year!

Very Nice Staff, 2017-07-27
Captain: , San Diego (300)

Two dockhands helped us tie up. They were professional and very friendly. They both gave us suggestions of where to eat and what to do. The girl working in the office was equally as nice. She gave us a welcome bag and showed us where to go on a town map. She was very welcoming and made us feel glad to be there. Boaters lounge and laundry room are together. Minimal but fine. We didn't use the restrooms. The wifi signal was not very strong and we were unable to use it. Docks in good shape. Marina is a short bike ride or walk into town. Train bridge closes a lot so plan accordingly.

Great People & Facilities, 2017-07-14

We wound up here when the train bridge stuck closed. People couldn't be friendlier or more helpful after trying to get under the bridge at dead low, we gave up for the day. When we told Danielle that we would be staying she told us "no charge". Also some of the best bathroom facilities I have seen at any marina. Definitely a great place to stop over.

People at the marina could not be more helpful. The marina was with in walking distance to everything. I will definitely go back.

would give it 4 1/2 if I could, 2016-07-07

Very friendly staff, awesome internet, great cable, close to town. The only improvement I would suggest is better lighting on the docks but nonetheless I would definately come back again.

We are all Boaters!!, 2016-05-15
Captain: , Lake St. Clair (177)

We were have repairs to our new to us boat, Bayside Diesel facility, walked over & talked to Danielle (office) to see if I could use the Laudromat..."WELL, THAT IS A NEW QUESTION I'VE NEVER HEARD!"...after checking with the boss...he said...SURE, we're all boaters! Thanks for helping someone NOT even at your marina!!

We were here for 3 days to see Mystic and it was great. Clean baths and showers, very nice laundry/lounge, and super staff.

Great Marina and Hurricane Hole, 2011-09-28
Captain: , Galesville, MD (121)

I was scrambling to find a spot for my boat with the onset of Irene. Since I was scheduled to go to Fort Rachel on Monday the 29th, I begged them to come a few days earlier! These are the most accomodating folks I have met at any marina. Hunkered down for a week here waiting for Irene to come and then subside. Even without power (Fort Rachel was the LAST entity in Mystic to get power restored), the marina folks were on hand to help in whatever fashion they could. Facilities are clean and accomodating. The location is one of the best in Mystic, both from a weather protection standpoint and an ease of access to Mystic. I will certainly stop there again, hopefully in less stressful circumstances.

Spent Tropical Storm Irene there in 2011, 2011-09-10
Captain: , Alameda CA (119)

Got hauled-out at short notice before Hurricane (arrived as a TS) Irene. Charged 50% premium. Great friendly people - and the most careful Travelift operators I've ever seen ! (never seen anyone use a spirit level to block a boat on a slight angle before, or sound the keel for voids under the blocks)....
Stayed aboard - well sheltered yard and marina. In sustained 30kt winds gusting to 45-50 kts, nothing blew around. Some minor flooding in yard. Yard personnel stayed on-the-job monitoring boats both in and out of the water.
I was very impressed with the yard during this crisis.

Agree, best marina for seeing Mystic, 2011-07-20

Walk to everything, including Amtrak. Plenty of good clean showers. Check out the tavern on Water Street for an old time pub. 5 Min. walk.

We liked Fort Rachel, 2009-09-02
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

Located at end of Water Street, attractrive area, nice walk to town. Nice pub nearby and friendly people here, you are right next to the railroad bridge but we found it more fun than disruptive -- the trains are not long (like on the Hudson River) and its not noisy. Marina has no wifi when we were there but they seemed to be considering it, so check ahead if thats important to you. Seems to be dog friendly, there were several golden retrievers around. Convenient stores are a bit of a hike but there are lots of restaurants, ice cream vendors, gift shops, etc. Maybe a 20-25 minute walk to the seaport.

Captain: , Washington, D. C. (1)

JJust inside the railway swing bridge, Ft. Rachel is unpretentious, friendly and clean. The location near the railway bridge does result in regular horn blasts as the bridge opens an closes for the Amtrack line that runs over it, but we did not find it disturbing. Single screw trawlers will need to factor the river current when making the approach.
