Great find, 2017-07-17
Captain: , Noblesville (20)

As noted in other reviews, new docks and good electric/water. Shower facilities quite sufficient if not in the top tier. We were there for three days last week, and had enough time to observe the marina's management. Having witnessed many decades of the rise and fall of Bahamian marinas, I firmly believe that good management is the glue that keeps a marina together. Flying Fish is well run and attention to detail is in evidence. Well worth the visit. I hope they keep up the good work. Oh yes, the G&T's in the restaurant are served in about 16oz. glasses- wonderful!

Flying Fix Ok stop w/Good food etc., 2017-06-10
Captain: , Connelly N.Y. (353)

We had to sell the boat but we arrived on Long Island via air. We have driven the island extensively and I have to admit that this marina is first class.
It has recently been redone with all new buildings and a pool. There are 2 100 amp power towers and while the docks are not as new as everything else, the place shows really well.
I would not rate Flying Fisherman as a hurricane hole. In fact it probably has swell when the wind and seas are wrong.
But if you are traveling along the shore of Long Island and need a break when th weather works this is a great stop if they have room for you. Make sure you have reservations.

Great service, friendly staff and locals, 2017-04-25
Captain: , Center Island, WA (160)

The dockmaster Kevin is fantastic and very helpful. We were looking for ma particular item and he located it and had it the marina the next day and for a very fair price. Propane is available here a local truck comes by with usually with next day service. The food was good at both restuarants and the store although minimal is very stategically stocked with food and various marine supplies. There are free DVD's to barrow and a good book exchange. Even though they cater to the fishing crowd we felt very welcomed, Highly recommended

Friendly people - everything brand new, 2017-02-08
Captain: , South America (778)

We anchored in the bay but we used the marina facility. Everything is brand new (feb2017) and the people was very friendly.

Diesel was $4.65 / gallon

Attention if you want to clear in here: the custom will charge you $100 additionally to came down here. Or you rent a car to go to see them in Stella Maris airport 75km N from here)

We fueled here and anchored out, 2017-01-31
Captain: , Lizella GA (1826)

We fueled and ate at long Island flying fish marina, dock hand Andrew was great. Resturant was good and food was priced right for Bahamas, waitress Maria was fantastic. Beautiful place, this is the best kept marina I have seen yet in the Bahamas.

nice place lacking in customer service, 2016-11-19
Captain: , Biloxi, MS (21)

Mixed emotions here. We were impressed when we came in. Nice docks. Ample power and water. Very good wi-fi connection. Nice looking restaurant upstairs. Only four patrons on friday night at 6:pm. Didnt check the menu as we had prepared for dinner aboard. This whole place looks brand new. It seems they built a fabulous place but neglected to train the workers in politeness and customer service. Of particular aggravation was the man who checked me out this morning. As i walked into the office/ships store, i said good morning but he did not look up from his work behind the counter. I noticed some coolers along the wall with a few items and asked if there was milk or creamer for coffee. "No". So I asked if there was a store nearby. "No. You'll need a car for that. Ok, I said, I just need to settle up. He had to go out to read the water meter. When he returned i asked if the restaurant upstairs might have some coffee creamers. He said "No, they dont do coffee upstairs." At that point i was speechless, paid my bill and left. The place is brand new and truly beautuful. I will try them again when i am back this way in hopes that i just caught them at a bad time.

Have stayed here during the winter/spring for several years and find the facilities clean and and staff most helpful. They will assist in finding what ever you need -supplies, mechanics etc. The community is recovering from Hurricane Juaquin 10/1/15 but has what ever you need or will help to obtain it. The new construction at the Marina will soon be finished which includes a pool, dinning room, office etc. All the comforts in one of the most beautiful seetings. The harbour is fun to explore by dinghy and loacal attractions and beaches could keep you busy for days. The Outer Edge Grill has great local and traditional food at reasonable prices.

Great stop over, 2016-07-12
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (120)

Well positioned for stop over between Great Inagua and Exumas. Access is marked and entry to the marina is straightforward. Facilities are clean and modern, diesel and water available and provisions can be obtained from store. However store is a car ride away, and availability of food stuffs improves after the boat arrives on Tuesdays. Restaurant on site is very good, although open air and the noseeums are everywhere. Second restaurant is a short walk and indoors although not quite as good, but they do have a tv if you want to catch up with news and sports.
A heater hose on our boat parted about 6 miles from the marina and engine overheated. No parts/hoses were available, but mechanics are available to advise and help, and we bipassed the water heater using existing hose. Local gas station provided coolant.
We are a sailboat and felt welcomed. We stayed 4 days to make sure everything was ok wuth the engine and to see the sights. We rented a car and visited Hamilton caves and Dean's Blue Hole - both well worth a visit as well as reprovisioning.
We enjoyed Flying Fish marina, Long island and Clarence Town and intend to return. Recommend it, just make sure you have plenty of bug spray!

Very Nice Facility, 2016-06-02
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (283)

We stopped here to clear in to the Bahamas from the T & C, took the C & I person 2 hours to arrive from up island. We did not tie up inside the marina but were there for about 3 hours. They were very good hosts to us while waited, kind, helpful, and gave us internet coverage. They seemed to work pretty hard on keeping the place neat and tidy. Easy place to anchor with lots of room.

Good little Marina, 2016-05-16

Great place to stay!, 2016-05-12
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (50)

Came in here with the intention of spending 2 days to wait out a blow and ended up staying 5. This place has everything you could ask for in a Marina in the Bahamas. Very helpful and friendly staff, good wifi, dependable electric, strong sturdy and rebuilt docks, good protection, easy access to rental cars, well stocked ships store, clean restrooms and a wonderful little restaurant and bar. Will for sure visit again in the future as they are in the process of building a new office with a Marina pool and expanding the restaurant/bar.

Wonderful Marina, 2016-03-13
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1025)

I am not quite sure what happened to the previous reviewer, but when we visited, about 1/3 of the boats were trawlers, 1/3 were sailboats and 1/3 sport fishermen. All seemed to be enjoying themselves. There was a nice little bar and grill, some sparklingly clean showers and restrooms, and what seeemd to be a nice laundry. I'd go back here in a minute.

Sailboats stay away, 2015-06-17
Captain: , Annapolis (30)

...this was the reverberating message I received from both visiting the marina by foot, and other boaters banished to the marginally acceptable anchorage.

I cannot stress enough the unwelcome feeling we got when we finally lugged our water cans, and fuel cans to this marina to fill them. Between the staff who looked as though they couldn't be bothered and those who gave searching glances toward the manager as though to verify approval, we couldn't (and by this time didn't want to) buy anything.

So, we decided to conduct our business with the near by Rowdy Boyz and the Winter Haven Inn. A wonderful dining establishment, and B&B style ocean view room. Anything we needed from that point on was done via the rental car and a drive up to Salt Pond.

It is the first time in 20 + years I feel the need to segregate from the boating population at large and warn that Sailboaters Stay Clear of Clarencetown, unless you are in need of a quick rest and nothing more.

Outstanding marina and staff, 2015-02-13
Captain: , San Marcos, TX (865)

We just spent 3 nights here (2/9-11/15) and have to agree with previous posts that this is one of the best run marinas we've visited. Everything looks brand new, strong clean docks, great ship store, clean restrooms, nice laundry and an excellent restaurant. The owners are on site and they and their entire staff are helpful and friendly (they even helped us obtain a hard to find part for our windlass). Great spot to stop for a few days rest. Car rental is close by (recommend "Unique" rentals).

great Marina and ships store, 2015-01-15
Captain: , Tarpon Springs (250)

nice fixed docks, clean facililities, marina store has nice mix of essential marine supplies. restaurant was excellent. the nightly show put on by the local shark population is not to be missed. we saw lots of facility improvements being accomplished. obvious that owners are investing heavily in this first rate marina.

A Must Stop, 2014-04-04
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1148)

I'll keep it short and agree with past reviews. Well worth the long day getting here. Rental car was only $55, Drove to Caves, Blue Hole, Meseum in Buckelys and a few miles further up the road (and I have to add) for lunch at "The Forest" Restaurant - it's really a shack on the right side of the road with 4 tables outside but food was Great and Cheap, Staff was very friendly (It's a local dive that's worth the drive). Marina didn't have the washers or cable yet but should be soon..

Three X Five Stars, 2014-01-19

MV Gotta Smile
Service, facility, and restaurant all deserve 5 stars. Jason and Andrew waiting to assist us on the dock when we arrived. Nice fixed docks with new power posts. Marina well protected from heavy seas. Easy check in. Spotless marina office/well stocked marine store! Outstanding restaurant - thanks to previous reviewers who recommended. Cracked Conch and fish tacos some of the best we've eaten. Also, thanks to those who recommended renting a car to explore the island. Friendly people everywhere. We had a great time and will return.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, 2013-03-13
Captain: , San Diego, Miami (146)

Can%u2019t say enough about the staff/team here (Jason %u2013 manager & Marvin %u2013 dockmaster), they are great. We pulled in for fuel (3/7 - $5.57 diesel) and a night and decided to stay another day. Well the weather came up so we stayed a week. The marina is in great shape, has new owner and they are improving it even more. They are putting in a new sea wall, once done the marina will be well protected. The onsite restaurant is great; you have to have a burger. They are done on the BBQ and are awesome (so is the Peas & Rice). The kitchen staff is great too. On our way back from Turks we will surely stop over for a few days

Flying Fish Marina Changes, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Terra Ceia, FL (91)

We stayed there for a week in May 2012, and learned that the marina was going to be taken over by new owners at the end of the south. This is a basically a good facility, and well positioned for trips north or south. We met one of the new owners, who has a great deal of experience, and after speaking with him, we concluded that this change can only be for the better. (One of the difficulties with Flying Fish Marina in the past was that they had been unable to get their "slip management" in order. (Not sure they could take you - even when they had multiple empty slips for several days, and saying that you might have to move your boat since they reserved the slip you were in for someone else - even though there were mutiple identical slips everywhere. Let me add that the prior owners were VERY nice people, and very anxious to please.

Changes planned included upgraded electrical (badly needed), and some dock repairs.

Great spot with great people. Food is good at marina resurant. As well as the place just down the road. Be sure to rent a car and drive around. Check out the beautiful beach at Dean's blue hole. You might catch some world class free divers doing their thing there.

Clarencetown Blues, 2011-05-28
Captain: , Baddeck, Nova Scotia (160)

I am currently holed up at Flying Fish Marina. Fortunaytely we were withing sight of the approaches when we blew an injector in one of our mains. There would have been far worse places for this to happen. Despite the lack of onsite repair facilities the management were quick to put us in touch with capable people and I doubt we would have been much better accommodated at a full service marina. Cash talks at the fuel dock and I was pleased to learn that the 1500 gallons we purchased was nearly forty cents a gallon cheaper than had been quoted over the telephone a week earlier. Very limited in terms of nearby shoreside activities but all in all a pleasant stop and a good waypoint for cruisers transiting from the VI to Florida or back. I will continue to use the facility on future passages without hesitation.

great place, 2011-02-23

What a marina should be. Reasonably priced, quiet, friendly staff and helpful also.
