Reviews for Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin
great location poorly managed, 2016-08-24
Captain: , Catawba Island Ohio (530)

We were headed there on a weekend when the poker run was going on and the Tragically Hip concert was happening. I was not at all bitter about that. We wanted fri-sat which were full so we came in on thur. No problem. The problem was that their policy for ANY reservation they require first night non-refuundable deposit. They apparently never heard about boaters having weather or mechanical delays, or they don't care. The docks, bathrooms and dock staff were all nice, it was not their fault, the marina is run by the town. Policy does not seem at all friendly toward boaters. I would have mixed feelings about staying there again but I would not make a reservation, I would throw the dice or better still go to Kingston marina

Confirming previous Post +, 2016-08-09
Captain: , Southport Queensland (300)

Stayd for 10 days in early August. Confirming the points made in the previous post except the WiFi on the wall was intermittent to non existent over 10 days. Be aware that booking in advance may be required and if you cancel or try to leave earlier than booked you are not entitled to a refund. Excellent service fom the dock crew. many slips do NOT have 50 amp service as advertised so you will need a double 30 amp splitter.

As good as ever, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Brewerton, NY (489)

Revisited for first time since 2012. It is as good as ever, albeit getting a little pricey. Without reservations, there were ample slips for all the weekday transient arrivals from 22' to 54'. They limit VHF communications (Ch 68) to low power handheld, and require your arrival within basin before making slip assignment. They always have 2 or 3 capable dock hands waiting at your slip. Restroom, shower and laundry facilities are well-secured and kept up well (it appears that a facility upgrade is in on the drawing board as well.) WiFi connection/bandwidth on I3 wall was a bit spotty for watching a movie on Netflix(which is basis for 4 vs. 5 stars). Downtown Kingston is but a step away from the docks, and is as clean a city as you will find. Shops and eateries abound within a few blocks.

As good abs it gets., 2016-07-11
Captain: , Naples, FL (170)

First, this marina is a block away from the best parts of Kingston. Plenty of restaurants, bars, marine stores, nick nack shopes, history, etc. Second, the docks are immaculate and spacious. Third, when you call in on 68 to get your dock assignment, they will have several dock hands waiting to help you dock.

showers and restrooms are plentiful and clean.

Great stop, good people, lots to do, 2016-07-10
Captain: , Michigan City, IN (748)

Date of visit: 6/26 & 27/2016
We loved Kingston and the Confederation Basin. The staff was professional and friendly, checking in with Customs couldn't have been easier, and there was plenty to see and do in town. We recommend the Trolley tour, a visit to the Penitentiary Museum and City Hall, and a long walk to enjoy architecture, shops, and an abundance of linteresting local restaurants. There is a helpful Visitors' Center right next to the marina. The Saturday morning Farmer's Market had the best selection of quality gluten free products we've seen in quite some time. If you are into that, that is the place to stock up. We paid $1.71 per foot and $12 for 50amp service (CAD). We are in a 48' M/Y with a 4' draft. Wifi was okay.

Great location, Poorly Managed, 2016-07-01
Captain: , Ottawa (31)

As a seasonal customer, I cannot recommend Confed. The staff are great, the location is second to none. BUT... On busy weekends noise is a huge problem. Poor facilities, WiFi that still does not work and no pump out. Great for a mid week visit but avoid the weekends.

A do not miss stop, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Portsmouth (352)

We stayed in Confederation Basin four days and highly recommend it. It is located downtown with easy access to everything. Enterprise rental car is about 1.5 miles away. Marina is protected by break walls, is clean and staff very friendly. Kingston is a beautiful city and is well worth the stop.

Great location, 2016-03-09
Captain: , Rochester, New York (203)

Sept 14, 2015 - this was the latest of many stays over the years. The town and location offset the hassles with reservations for us. For years we would have rated it a 5 without question, but it does seem the town is cutting corners now. The reservation system is beyond frustrating and the dock hands do not seem to be getting any training. The docking can be tight and they used to be a great help, but now they seem unsure of what to do. But downtown Kingston is just steps away. The Kingston Brew Pub, Chez Piggy, all the other great restaurants, the music in the park and all the friendly boaters make this a great spot for us

Downtown Kingston, where the action is., 2015-12-15
Captain: , Toronto (482)

If you're looking for a night on the town in Kingston, this is the spot as far as I'm concerned, there is so much energy here in the summer. We've returned several times.

The reason I only rate it a 3 is it is very expensive and a very busy place. They make it work, I've always been able to find a slip for my 35' sailboat- even on summer week ends, although the dock might only be 20' long, they certainly make an effort to accomodate. Resevrations are challenging, so I just show up, pick an empty slip and ask which slip they would like me to move to.

Not a warm fuzzy., 2015-08-19
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Marina is big, we were stuck out furthest from anything, anticipated on staying two nights. When weather was threatening to sock us in, we left next day, but marina refused to refund our secong nights fees, "city policy" was told. Then they said we could transfer our credit to another vessel in the future. So that time came, but we were told that wasn't true either. We were took for $75.00, for a 31 foot boat. Note to all is do not pay in advance, they won't inform you of their no refund policy til it's too late.

Very nice marina right downtown Kingston, 2015-08-13
Captain: , Charlotte, VT (20)

8/13/2015. Came across Lake Ontario in some pretty rough weather. Decided that we had enough rocking and rolling for one day so we called Confederation Basin on the mobile. Now it was mid-week but they were very accommodating and even sent two crew to help with the dock lines. Easy approach with excellent docks and services. The showers and bathrooms were very clean but I could see with all the boats in the marina they could get a lot of use and some people are not very considerate of others. Lots of services and restaurants close by. Easy walking distance.

Good Location, 2015-08-11
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (1476)

Strange reservation system, so we didn't make one. Had no problem getting a slip upon arrival. Met on the dock by 3 dockhands, tied in quickly and directed to the check-in. Adequate power and water on the dock. Three washers and three dryers inside ($2 per machine per load). Great location at the foot of an interesting town, can't beat it. Note: if you need a pumpout, Kingston Marina on the other side of the causeway/bridge has a pump-out for $20 (best pumpout we've encountered in a long time - powerful suction). We were coming into Kingston from the Rideau, so stopping at Kingston Marina for a pumpout wasn't a problem.

City run facility - nuff said, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Ottawa (532)

Docks are great. Power and water. Close to downtown Kingston. Reservation system is stupid.
They do not answer the phone, but respond on VHF.
City run facility so system is clumsy. Arrived on a Sunday and it took forever to get slip assignment only 4 people working. (WTF). Full staffed on week days.

Great Location, 2015-07-30
Captain: , Oneida, NY (264)

Docks are in good shape. No trouble with power or water. Washrooms are okay. Looks like they have plans to completely renovate them. Reservation system is dumb, but I've had no problems getting a slip without one. No fuel or pump out. The real draw here is the location. You're steps from a great downtown.

Barely Adequate and Seriously Flawed, 2015-07-26
Captain: , Whitby (370)

Stayed here one night on 2015-07-21.
Seems expensive for what you get.
Staff were generally friendly and helpful.
Docks are in good repair but one has a choice of a 26 foot finger or 40 foot. For a 35 foot sailboat like mine the 26 foot was much too short but I didn't want to pay for a 40 foot.
Docks are very low making the step down / up difficult and precarious.
Showers are adequately clean but a long walk away across a public road. It would be nice to have temperature control in the shower ... something other than really hot and hotter.
WiFi is a bad joke. Impossible to connect even from marina office.
Kingston is a nice town with lots to offer. This Marina doesn't do it justice.
Update added 2015-07-26
The washrooms and showers appear not to have been cleaned since our last visit five days ago. The floor was littered with hair, paper towels, toilet paper, and other yucky debris. Most of the toilet stalls had no paper in them. It was so dirty, we were reluctant even to shower here.
I'm dropping my rating to one star accordingly.
If it weren't for the favourable location, I would avoid this marina.

They haven't improved in 4 years., 2015-07-08
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1523)

When we stopped here 4 years ago the dock hands were very young and inexperienced. Same today. I made a reservation on line per instructions. When I entered the marina and called for directions I had to give them all the info that I gave them when I made the reservation. Then, I had to wait outside the marina for them to look up the reservation and decide where to put me. When I got to my slip there were 4 young girls who tried hard but lacked experience. They don't want you to dump your holding tank but they don't provide a pumpout. You have to go to another amrina to pump out and pay for it. One of the locals told me they just dump it in the harbor. There was only one girl in the office thay seemed to know what she was doing and she was very helpful. To check into customs I had to use the official pay phone. It didnt cost anything for the call, but the phone was infested with all kinds of insects. Other than that, Kingston is a nice city.

A very satisfactory place, 2015-06-21
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (370)

A very professional, well-run marina with every amenity. Staff was pleasant and helpful, washrooms clean and well-stocked. Certainly right in the middle of one of the most charming cities in N. America, My only complaint is that we were put on the farthest dock from the office, and it was a 10-minute walk to get to the gate and the amenities. We were so far out we could not even get the wifi. Other than that, a perfect stop.

The free wall is gone!, 2015-06-20
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (552)

Two years ago we secured to the free wall. New floating docks have now been installed along the wall with lots of signs "No overnight docking". What a shame.

Great spot!, 2015-04-03
Captain: , Black River, Ontario, Canada (224)

We were there in June before school was out so not quite so busy, we're able to reserve dock by cellular, and when we entered the wind was howling, not one, not two, but three staff met us at dock to help tie up, much appreciated. Very nice stay in Kingston and marina could not have been better.

Great downtown, city location, 2014-09-21
Captain: , Kingston, ON (230)

Water, power, and wifi at the docks. Everything else in easy walking distance including groceries, liquor store, marine supplies, bars, restaurants, etc.

Friendly, Helpful staff, 2014-07-15
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (361)

Contrary to reviews we read the staff was very helpful, competant and friendly.
Wifi worked well.
Great location in downtown Kingston.

Perfect location., 2014-07-09
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (986)

Friendly staff & helpful dockhands. Floating docks in great shape, many are brand new, right next to a park. Located right in the heart of town with many restaurants, shops & sightseeing opportunities. Clearing customs couldn't have been easier. Far walk to land & showers.

Great Location!, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (333)

This marina is downtown Kingston. In the summer there is something going on every weekend. So, it may be necessary to make reservations several days ahead. I never had trouble getting in there, even when the jazz-fest was going on.

Friendly and helpful staff assist with your arrival. Captains lounge, showers, and all facilities are clean ad well maintained.

Restaraunts are across the street along with little shops. A farmers market is a couple blocks away. Check with the staff what days.

Great City, 2013-10-17
Captain: , Port Huron (423)

We were told to plan 2-3 days to visit Kingston. That's about right. Lots of museums and restaurants. Take the trolly tour and do the tour at city hall. Sir John's Public House was our favorite eatery. We were there in the off season so reservations, as mentioned in other reviews, were not an issue. The staff was ok but needed to spend less time chatting in the office and more time cleaning the washrooms and laundry area. Why are marina heads always neglected? Management needs to read Active Captain and realize that this is an important consideration when choosing a marina. The staff was also late to open the office in the morning. We would rate this a 4 o4 5 star withh clean facilities.

Great marina and location, 2013-08-27
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

Kingston was clearly one of our favorite towns. We did the hop on hop off trolley and got the complete tour. The marina was nice and the staff very friendly. Clean showers and restrooms. Good wifi. You are right in the middle of town with restaurants, shopping, grocery, liquor and hardware within walking distance.

I just take a chance ..., 2013-08-23
Captain: , Howe Island, SLS, Ontario, Canada (385)

... and dock in the transient section (North/West side of the hotel).

No need for the reservations and minimal contact with office staff.

Very Nice Marina but Rules-and-Regulations Have to Change, 2013-08-01
Captain: , Prescott, Ontario (141)

Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin is a very clean and well kept marina. Washrooms are kept clean and have numerous shower stalls. It is located downtown Kingston with a park that has special events within eye-sight.

Where this marina is failing is in the administration and the ones that create the rules. The booking procedure of printing a form, completing it and faxing it back is archaic. Their way of charging for slips is different than any I have ever seen %u2026 you pay by the length of the boat OR the length of the dock whichever is longest. We were three boats travelling together all the same size. Each of us got a slip and paid different amounts. When we went to the office and complained we were told %u201Csorry but that is how we charge%u201D.

Right in town, 2013-07-24
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

The wouldn't make us a reservation, but they were able to squeeze us in during a big regatta, once we arrived. Very helpful dock staff, friendly office staff, clean facilities.

Reservation system is a bad joke, 2013-07-23
Captain: , Everett WA (414)

The facility is just adequate. The town is convenient. It appears that the reservation system is designed to keep American cruisers away. If you can, I would skip this marina.

Inconsistent, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (366)

We had called a week in advance to see if there was a space for 2 nights and were told yes, and that we needed to book online. Booking online entails filling out an un-editable PDF which you have to fax or scan and email back). 8 hours after I sent the reservation I got a call saying that now there was no space, but I could be wait listed (I had just arranged for UPS to overnight a package to this location).
The wait list policy kept changing day by day and when we finally got there it changed yet again. We were stuck on a "day dock" that is 8 feet long for our 39' boat. We were stuck paying for no services on a crappy dock.

Unpleasant, 2013-07-09
Captain: , Dallas, TX (10)

Our attempt to make a phone reservation was declined. We were told to print a form from their website and fax it in. I informed them we had no fax on our boat so they told us to e-mail our request, which we did. The next day, I received a response saying they didn't accept e-mail reservations and to print out the form and fax it in. We decided to take our chances and show up without a reservation.

We were told to communicate on channel 68. After several attempts, no one answered so we phoned in for a slip assignment. They said the radio was acting up and assigned us a slip.

The assigned slip was a shared slip which we were asked to back into doring a thunderstorm with 40 mph crosswinds even though there appeared to be lots of space on the face dock. The other occupant of the slip came on deck and proceeded to scream expletives and struck our boat repeatedly with his boat hook. Although it was a tight squeeze, we never touched his boat.

We went to the office to pay and although we are a 41 foot cruiser, we were charged for 45 feet. We were told the policy is to charge for the length of the slip, not the length of the boat, even though there were plenty of empty shorter slips. I suppose they could have put us in a 60 foot slip and charged us even more.

I am writing this review sitting under the wifi transmitter because unless you are within a few feet, it doesn't work.

The only positive thing so far is a great location in downtown Kingston.

Run Down Marina, 2013-03-05
Captain: , Bronte Harbor Oakville Ontario (123)

Lots to do in Kingston. The marina needs some work. Small washrooms means they get dirty very fast and the staff do not keep up with the cleaning. Needs to be managed a little better.

Good marina, excellent location, GREAT town, 2013-01-31
Captain: , Gloucester, MA (806)

We REALLY liked Kingston. What a wonderful town, Not too big, not too small. It also served as a great rendezvous spot for picking up guests prior to transiting the Rideau.

Very nice marina, 2012-09-15
Captain: , Roswell, GA (455)

Making reservations ahead by email of fax is easy. Great town with lots to do. Marina staff are all very helpful.

The Best Place to Stay in Kingston , 2012-08-21
Captain: , Midland Ontario (660)

Right downtown. Amenities that boaters look for are all within easy walking distance. The variety of shopping, touring and dining exceeded our expectations and we like the town. Others have said it already... The reservation system is like no other and needs to improve. The marina has a security door that provides no protection. A piece of cardboard was seen to unlatch it and we noticed the docks / boats being cased by iffy people on more than one occasion. We also don't like dock hands boarding our boat and others without permission ...all leading us to take extra care to make sure the doors were locked.
Wifi is weak to non existent.

Quirky reservation system, 2012-08-11
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

We actually enjoyed the area once we accepted the nutty reservation system. We came without a reservation and were put on the "wall" until about 11 am when boats are required to vacate their slips. We were then assigned a slip BUT could not reserve for additional days. We were told that we could ask to be put on a waiting list the following morning at 7 am. We might then be asked to go back to the "wall" before being assigned a new slip. It was unclear whether all slips were reserved or if we could not reserve because we did not fax in our reservation in advance.

We decided that we would enjoy Kingston until the following morning at 11am and either be allowed to stay in the same slip or we would start our trek up the Rideau.

The next morning about 8 am one of the attendants came by and said we were good to stay for another day.

Don't miss the free ferry to Wolfe Island.

Recommendation to Marina: use cleaning products that leave a fresh scent in the washrooms and hallways.

confederation basin marina. Kingston ,NY, 2012-08-04
Captain: , Alex Bay, NY (431)

A very nice location to spend a few days..the docking itself is very nice with excellent help from the staff. The showers and rest rooms are well kept. There are excellent restaurants and watering holes within a very easy walk from the marina. The marina itself is securred with a locked gates and security camera's. Its one of our favorite stops every summer for advance reservation during summer months..they book up very quickly, especially during Holiday or Special events..

Also question their ability to provide proper electrical supplies, based on your boats needs..Voltage drops significantly during peak times and hot weather.

Convenient location to see Kingston, 2012-07-19
Captain: , Lake Champlain, VT (271)

Busy marina well located to restaurants, shops, and attractions.

We Liked It, 2012-07-15
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

I'll admit that the reservation policy is a bit strange (marina requires request form to be faxed in 48 hours in advance). And, not many cruising boats are equipped with fax machines. But, if you show up without a reservation and they have space they cheerfully give you a space. When we arrived the transient area was 75 percent vacant. And, when we called the marina several hours before our planned arrival, they were able to tell us that they had plenty of space although they could not make make a reservation without the form/notice. So, I would not let the reservation policy dissuade folks from patronizing the marina. Docks are well protected behind stone breakwaters. Some of the finger piers are a bit short but it was not a problem. And, you are right downtown adjacent to shops and restaurants.

Showers Were Scalding, 2012-04-19
Captain: , Mimico Cruising Club ON Canada (1210)

Stayed here in 2010 and so it may have improved since then. The showers were either off or scalding hot. Very hot weather and needed a cool shower to cool down.

A mad reservation policy that sucks, 2011-08-04
Captain: , Herrington Harbour, MD (680)

A great place to stop as the town is interesting to walk about. The stress caused by the reservation is not worth the stay and we will by pass it next year. The other problem is the book several of the nearby marinas too. The yound lady at the front desk was terrific. We asked to stay at Portsmouth and the senior dude who was sitting there said it should be no proplem, but after waiting a day or so, we were told it was full. They should give up this crasy Poker Race thing!
Change the res policy!!

Fail! This place isn't worth it., 2011-07-29
Captain: , Toronto, ON (1729)

Give it a miss. Kingston is pricing itslef out of the market and their attitude sucks. Consider Prinyer's Cove and Trident Yacht Club and give the whole sorry, over-priced place a miss.

They just don't care, 2011-07-19
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

This is practically the only game in town. The Confederation Basin is right in downtown and close to everything that Kingston has to offer. That part is good. However, the docks are ragged, water pressure was very weak, and the Wi-Fi did not work. So what are we paying these high prices for?

The worst part is the attitude of the staff. They require 48 hr. advance notice for a reservation, and there was plenty of room in the marina. We asked at 9:00 am of our second day to stay another night, and you would have thought I was robbing the place. Kingston is a neat town, but this marina stinks.

Confederation Basin, 2011-07-18
Captain: , Hampton, VA (389)

The location is perfect. Nice security gates at the end of the docks. There was plenty of help on hand to help you dock. They do require a 48 hour notification however, we called 24 hours before arrival and they could not take a reservation but, they said that they had plenty room for us. Very weird system. Also, they do not except packages or mail. We found out the hard way after ordering a part. The main office was nice enough to not turn it away but, we were told that they do not except packages for boaters!

Pilgrim's Stay, 2011-07-13
Captain: , Wilsonville, AL (300)

We stayed @ this marina twice. Great location and walkable city with friendly and helpful staff. As we are 32' length had no problem with docking. Excellent restaurants, ice cream, farmers market. Security was great and good showers (five for women) plus co-ed showers in back.

Dawn Treader, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Marietta, Ga (82)

They now require 48 hour advance reservations especially for weekend stays.

location,location,location, 2011-06-30
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Most everything is walkable except Royal Millitary & Fort Henry which is bikeable. Great city for shopping, provisioning, & sight seeing. Docks & facilities are very good except limited space for boats over 40' & 50 amp. Staff is relatively untrained & unexperienced so information is sketchy and wrong oftern before docking.

Pump out/fuel are located at another marina 5 min away. Many great restaurants. Take trolley tour first for orientation. Free ferry to Wolfe Island.

Very Busy Marina, 2011-05-11
Captain: , TORONTO (424)

This marina is in the heart of the city and conveneient to everything. Not much of a view from most of the slips. Most docks are short. Boats are really crammed in here.

Confederation Basin, 2011-04-11

A favourite stop at the head of the St. Lawrence River 1000 Islands Region. Downown Kingston is a great shore leave area; Restaurants, Cultural, Food & Liquor, Hardware, Boating needs. As noted reserve in advance during busy summer season.

Very nice city, worth the stop, 2010-11-13
Captain: , toronto (449)

It is a nice marina and en even nicer city. It is a very popular marina but it is staffed by students so it isnt the most organozed. The marins is in the perfect location and the facilities are good. It is one of the nicer stops on the lake.

Great Location, 2010-07-17
Captain: , Cobourg, Ontario, Cdn (122)

Excellent location, good docks, deep water, friendly helpfull staff, the town of Kingston on the door step with good shopping and excellent resturaunts. BUT - reservations continue to be a problem here. We were docked and could make a reservations for the next day till 11am that morning, when we learned that we had to move since someone had reserved this particular dock. UGH, but otherwise this is definitely a 5 star locations. Lots of avaialble transient docks.

Great stop, 2010-07-02

If you can get through the reservation process it is a great place to stop. The dock hands were very helpful including remounting my Radar dome and making a run to the Beer Store. WE stayed three different times in June 2010 for a total of 9 days. Clean showers and wash rooms. Good laundry. Friendly. The only negative is that the young kids that answer the phone are not very experienced.

Needs better management. Reservations department needs to be improved.

How things have changed - for the worst, 2010-06-30

It's a shame what has happened to this marina. It is located in the center of the town that I would consider moving to in an instant. However, those running the marina are young kids working for the City of Kingston.

Unless you call at least 48 hours in advance they will not take a reservation - even if they were empty! The day we arrived without reservation they were half empty. We asked for 50 amp but were told that none were available since the one five feet from our slip was "reserved."

On our first night - I switched from the twin 30's to the empty 50 since the reservation hadn't arrived. Three days later, I unplugged form the "reserved" 50. Is this any way to run a service business?

The fact that Kingston is literally steps from your boat make it all worthwhile. I love the town so much, I'll continue to put up with the marina.

Great location, friendly staff but crowded. Looks like a nice stop but too bad the first impression was the marina staff telling us on the phone that they would not take reservations on the phone. Since my fax on the boat was on the fritz, we took our chances. By all means stay here....for the location. Good security. I just cannot give a higher rating to a marina which refused to accomodate cruisers who need to reserve by phone.

As others have said, pricy but extremely convenient to town, restaurants and all the attractions. Definately worth the stop.
It is much more croweded and active than the Rideau Canal that we had just completed. Now that is something that no one on the Great Circle Cruise should miss---but most do for some unknown reason. From here go up the Rideau to Ottawa and then over to Montreal and the Champlain back to Waterford, NY.

Nice place but pricey, 2008-09-18

This marina is handy to downtown Kingston with all its dining and shopping opportunities. But the marina is pricey compared to other private marinas in the area. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Showers are OK nothing to write home about. Downtown Kingston can be noisy at times, and the noise from the bascule bridge is just incredible, why don't they pave that thing?

Great Location in great city, 2008-09-13

Well-protected harbor and good docks. They need to put in more 50A hookups. Shower facilities not so good. Wonderful location. Kingston is interesting city, good restaurants and shopping walking distance from marina.

This is a a terrific marina located in the downtown hub of Kingston, On. It draws both local and transient traffic and is located at the juncture of where Lake Ontario empies into the St. Lawrence River. The marina consists of finger docks with 24 hour security and faces historic Fort Henry. It has a chandlery, washrooms and laundry facilities on site and is only 1 block away from the downtown area. There are a variety of bars and restaurants, a local fresh food market and bakery, the famous Chez Piggy Restaurant and blocks of shops downtown. The marina is in front of City Hall and attached to Confederation Park where a variety of festivals, concerts and arts and craft shows are exhibited each summer. During national holidays, fireworks displays take place in front of the marina. This is a fun place to be with friendly people. There are lots of additional off shore parks and anchorages in the Thousand Islands Park system nearby for those who want to be away from the hubbub but if you want to explore the city on foot and pick up local supplies and fresh food this is the place to be.
