Reviews for Fisherman's Wharf Marina
Pleasant & Professional, 2017-08-31
Captain: , Osprey FL (20)

This is one of our regular fuel docks, we visit at least twice monthly. The staff is curteous and professional. I am generally making my fuel runs singlehanded, and the staff makes life easy for me as they grab the lines and get her tied off whilst I'm at the helm. There tends to be a good current with the tidal flow, 1.5 kts or better, so their efforts are certainly appreciated!

Great Hospitality-Slow WIFI-Fantastic Service, 2017-05-16
Captain: , Treasure Island, Fl (10)

Smallish marina, floating docks on the GICW. You will be rocked occassionally by inconsiderate passing boaters in this no-wake zone. Did not use the bathrooms, but they did not look appealing. WI-FI signal was adequate, but the internet (WIFI) speed is slower than dial up. Water pressure at the dock for my hose is fair at best. As others have reported, no UBER, cabs take awhile to pick you up. We found the young staff really went out of their way to please you and earned this marina an extra star. In slip pump out is also a plus as are the floating docks.

Little value for the price, 2017-05-05
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7375)

This was our 2nd stay at Fisherman's Wharf. Dock staff was pleasant and helpful, fixed dock in good condition. Poor wifi, even with booster antenna. $2.50/ft is high when no other amenities available provided by the marina. It is a good stop, just not worth the price. Owner in process of further developing the property to include condos.

Captain: , Baltimore (529)

This marina would not be able to charge $2.50/ft if any of the near by marinas were nice. The marina is OK...floating dock or the fuel pier where we tied. Easy access off the ICW.
The wifi is not usable and we were 50' from the office.
The marina has new management effective Nov 2016. Dillion the DockMaster is trying to change the past perception - if you call, he will and does call you back. He first told us that he was full, but then called back and offered his facedock/fuel pier.
The restrooms are on the back of the baitshack/office.

Nice Spot with easy access to hardware store, 2017-04-14
Captain: , Yankeetown, FL (83)

Over all we found this is your best option for a stop over in Venice. The bathrooms were pretty clean but there are a single shower/toliet in one room basically. Also, be aware that there is no Uber in this area. Cabs only.

There's a ace hardware within walking distance to the south across the bridge. We found most of the dining on Venice Ave was very pricey but there's a place a short walk to the north called Bayside Grill that had excellent food for cheap.

Venice Trip, 2017-03-06
Captain: , Port Hudson (10)

It was all good except for the Dock Girl who told us that we didn't need our bumpers since you had rubber rails on your dock. Being rookies we listened and now have serious scuffs on our boat and we are hoping it will buff out.

good overnight, 2017-03-06
Captain: , Spruce Head (582)

Very close to the bridge in a no wake zone. Although we had a reservation, we arrived very early and were graciously accommodated. The following morning was not great for travel, so we were permitted to stay well beyond checkout time. Even with our antenna, the Wi-Fi was not acceptable most of the time. I did walk a very short distance to the office to download something I needed. The staff were very professional and helpful.

Very pleasant overnight, 2016-12-06
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (10)

Traveling from Captiva back to Tampa Bay, we stopped here for an overnight stay. Staff was very efficient and helpful in getting us secured in a bit of a cross current.

We ate at the marina restaurant and enjoyed the live music. Departure the next morning was facilitated by the helpful staff.

Good location but communication was a problem, 2016-11-29
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2870)

Our stay here started off poorly because over two days, no one would answer or return phone calls. We finally arrived and hailed on the VHF to find out that, yes, they had room for us. The dockmaster, Chris, was nice and tried to be helpful, but perhaps he has too many other responsibilites.

The location was good in that downtown Venice is just over the bridge. The baths/showers were acceptable, but far from being in good repair.

Very handy spot, 2016-11-10
Captain: , Woods Hole, MA (21)

We had a nice stay at this smaller marina on the GICW. It was very near the inlet (no bridges) and very close to downtown Venice for shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly, and facilities were fine.

Much Improved, 2016-10-29
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Was in here in 2013 and it was a disaster. Came in this week and was pleasantly surprised at the improvements. Chris the dock master could not do enough for us. Facilities were clean and appeared to be well maintained. Resturant across the parking lot served pretty good food and drinks. Next trip through I will be stopping here. Easy walk into downtown.

Warning Broke Town, 2016-08-13
Captain: , New Port Richey (310)

Stopped for a couple hours waiting on crew to get fuel and they charged me $2.50 a foot to wait for them to get there and buy almost $500 in gas. Then lft and my thoughts where correct "circus bridge" had a sign up about speeding in the no wake zone. I mean avoid Venice at all cost.

A Peaceful stay on the ICW, 2016-08-07
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (105)

This Marina is very peaceful, located in Venice on the ICW. Located in a no wake zone, the traffic is slow moving. Chad was at the fuel dock to assist us and then assisted us with our docking. Relatively easy docking with very little current or wind effect. While it is an easy 15-20 minute walk to quaint downtown Venice we ate the dockside restaurant and it was excellent. A good experience.

nice over night , 2016-07-27
Captain: , Freeport (141)

Arrived about closing but the dock hand (wish I could remember his name) stayed late and got us settled. It was 4 th July weekend and looked full. We were only staying one night so he tied us up to the fuel dock.

Nice Dockage, 2016-06-08
Captain: , Dallas, Tx. (130)

Last minute decision to dock was a good one. Chris the dock master very accommodating. Excellent dinner at Dockside Grill.

OK marina next to the bridge, 2016-05-23
Captain: , Niceville, Fl (195)

Marina is OK and dock guys help getting you tied up. The best part of this marina is that it is just a short walk accross the bridge to downtown Venice with tons of restaurants. The restaurant at the marina was closed for remodel we were there.

OK Stop not bad, 2016-02-21
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

This doesn't seem like a transient marina, so don't expect to be treated as such. I think we were the only transient there on the day we stayed (February/2016). Called on the radio, got no answer, twice. Called on the phone, answering machine. Got a call back on the radio, backed in, all good. We'll skip this place the next time, but there is an auto parts store and groceries withing walking distance. Bar / Restaurant on site with OK food if you like $10.00 hamburgers.

Best in Venice, 2016-01-03
Captain: , Johns Creek Georgia (180)

We docked here for one night after Christmas. It was our third time as an overnight transient and I was pleased again with the facility, location and personnel. The docks are in excellent conidtion, Marker 4 resturant is in on the property and downtown Venice is a 10 minute walk over the bridge. My only complaint is that there are only two bathrooms. While they are clean and each have a good shower, a third bathroom should be provided. But compared to the competing marina located right in the fast flowing Venice Inlet, it is an outstanding place for transients.

What's not to like?!, 2015-11-28
Captain: , Nashville (118)

Don't pass this place up. We managed to get in for a month during November and found it ranked up there with our top 3 stops (we've put 5500 miles on our boat in 18 months).

WiFi (check)
Close and Clean Bathrooms (check)
Good Resturant Bar (check)
Dog Friendly (check)
Walking Distance to shopping (check)
Low / No wakes (check)
Floating Docks (check)
Well Managed and Groomed Grounds (check)

We'll be back for sure. I liked the smallness and especially George, Judy and Cassie! The resturant will even cook what you catch!

Excellent marina, 2015-10-22
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (20)

In route to Sarasota from Marco Island, we elected to stop at Fisherman's Wharf for a couple of nights - a very good stop!

Clean newish floating docks, quiet, good restraurant on site and very helpful staff (Cassie, Chris & George).

We will make it a point to stop there again!

Really Nice Marina on the ICW, 2015-06-13
Captain: , Sanibel Island, FL (10)

Stayed here for the first time June 2015. Super friendly staff. Great on-site restaurant called Marker 4, and a nice on-site gift shop as well. Easy walking distance to Farmer's Market on Saturdays, and dozens of great restaurants. Publix about 1 mile south on Tamiami. Historic area of Venice also within walking distance. We had an outside slip (right on the ICW) and arrived during a fairly swift tide change. Best to slide up next to slips before backing in during high current times (as opposed to backing in from out in the channel). During our stay all the traffic on the ICW observed the no wake zone, so we were never rocked. Great place to watch other boats go by as well!

Perfect place to explore Venice, 2015-02-27
Captain: , Cincinnati (252)

Medium sized marina right on the ICW, and do mean right on the ICW. You might want to ask for an inside dock which are more protected from wakes. Nice floating docks with friendly staff waiting to help get you tied up, which was much appreciated in 20+ knot winds. Good restaurant on site. Easy walk into downtown Venice, lots of restaurants, bars and shops. We liked it so much we inquired about staying a month, but they had not been licensed for live aboards yet. Stayed January 2015

Terrific marina in Venice FL, 2015-02-21
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Florida (10)

Punta Gorda Sailing Club spent a weekend at this marina and found the services and staff to be great. The proximity to the shops and restaurants in Venice was wonderful. Would recommend this marina to visiting boater.

A Fun Stop, Well-run, 2015-02-09
Captain: , Stuart FL (778)

Small 50-slip marina just off GIWW. Stayed 3 nights. George the dockmaster, and assistants Chris and Brett, are 5-star: pleasant, professional and most helpful. Restrooms / showers (one each, men and women) are always clean. Ate 3 times at Marker 4 on-site and each was tasty (fish tacos really good). Easy half-mile walk over bridge to downtown. 3-mile paved bike / walking trail runs along GIWW. Easy in, easy out. Would return!

Close to downtown Venice, 2015-01-08
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3189)

Convienent stop for accessing Venice. Resturant on site has excellent food. Single bathroom and shower but kept clean. Nice floating docks to tie up to with piling between slips a plus.

Floating Docks, 2015-01-02
Captain: , Slidell, La. (1188)

The Floating Docks are always nice. Wide easy slips to get in and out of. Marker 4 Resturant was very good. Very easy walk into town with good shopping and resturants. Publix is within walking distance. Staff was nice.

Great Marina and staff, 2014-11-25
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

This is now our home marina. What a change over the past. The floating docks are great. Water, power & pump-out right at the slip. Marker 4 Restaurant is great! Just a short walk across the bridge to downtown Venice with shopping and many restaurants.

Change you can see, 2014-10-21
Captain: , Palmetto (422)

Wow, what a great change since my last review two years ago. The new management has cleaned up the docks, added a dockmaster, added clean and locked heads, true potable water (not a sting of garden hoses), and good WiFi service.
The price is still on the high side for a location with limited amenities (cable TV would be nice).

What a difference, 2014-09-03
Captain: , Hudson (274)

If you have not been here lately you are in for a nice surprize. Pump outs at the slip, gas and diesel available, good wifi and very nice restaurant. Located just north of the Hackett Bridge so short walking distance to town and stores. With newer floating docks getting in was a breeze. I called Cassie and she had Chris meet us at the dock and he helped get our boat secured. Far enough from the Venice inlet to lesson the excitement when trying to tie up. These folks have gone all out to make the boating experience enjoyable.
