Reviews for First Performance Marina
Great service, great people, 2017-05-18
Captain: , Rifle, CO (40)

Got towed to First Perfformance due parts delay, they did all the other work requested (bottom repair, minor plumbing, bonding system install) then we were marooned at their dock for more than a week, waiting for Yanmar parts (not their task) Couldn't ask for better treatment or service.
Gold Stars for Mike, Bob, James and the entire staff!!

Really friendly and helpful staff. They are not inexpensive but you get what you pay for!

Excellent Yard, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Danville, PA (20)

We recently hauled are 48 foot Hatteras LRC at this yard. Mike and all of the staff were very professional very friendly and very easy to work with. Ricky the travel lift operator and James, one of the mechanics there, did a superb job. We had the bottom painted and a multitude of other tasks were done in a timely and professional fashion. We would highly recommend this yard to anyone.

Very bad experience, 2015-05-27
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (555)

We hauled our 46' Grand Banks at this yard in May, 2015 for a bottom job and to service our Spurs cutters. I specifically asked if I could have the Spurs company do the service, as their factory is in Ft Lauderdale. The owner of the yard, Bob Banister, insisted they do the Spurs service. So they did the service and installed the new parts, and we headed to the Bahamas. A month later returning from the Bahamas, we heard a loud clanking on one shaft, and I figured it must be a Spur problem. When we arrived in Florida, and I could dive and take a look, one entire blade assembly had come off the shaft. So I call Bob and explained the situation, thinking he would offer to make it right. Boy was I surprised when he told me it was electrolysis, or perhaps I hit something. Both not the correct answer. Bottom line was he told me there are no guarantees from their yard on work performed there. So I called the Spurs company and explained the situation. The owner of Spurs told me there is no possible way it could have been electrolysis in two months, and if I had hit something, there would be visible damage to the remaining Spurs assembly, which there was not. He offered to give me the part which came off at no charge, and explained how I could install it underwater. I made the repairs, and a big thank you to the Spurs Company for what they did. Bottom line, the person who installed the Spurs apparently did not sufficiently tighten the two bolts holding the cutter assembly together.

I know the First Performance Marina prices are very good, but I guess you get what you pay for. They did not even remove the exterior strainers over the thru-hull intakes to paint up inside the thru-hull fittings. They also refused to sand the bottom before painting. Little things like, cutting corners allow them to have a "good" price for a bottom job. If you would be happy with how I was treated, by all means go there. I never will again.

Professional Service, 2012-05-15
Captain: , Boothbay Harbor, Maine (310)

I had this yard service my boat for some needed maintenance and repairs. They got me in the day after I visited them. Their work was timely and professional. Great place to get marine work done.

I lost my throttle cable as I came into dock. They came over immediately, got part and made repair. Price was fair even though they could have hit me for an emergency repair.
