Reviews for Federal Point Yacht Club
OUTSTANDING, 2017-04-10
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (846)

2017 Update - Bathrooms under total renovation. Advance reservations are needed. Clean Marina Award in 2016.

New management company has greatly enhanced the yacht club. Excellent facility, close to everything. Deborah, Mike and Heather are really professional and helpful. New finger piers, pool, WIFI, EXCELLENT laundry and bathrooms, ice maker...what more can you ask for?

Great location ... had trouble reaching them, 2017-04-06
Captain: , Annapolis MD (150)

We stopped here in late March. They didn't answer the phone ... 4 attempts and 2 voice messages during the day, and no return calls. They don't monitor the VHF, so the phone is the only way to contact them. We arrived and decided that we would tie to the face dock and see what was up. Deborah was very helpful and got us settled in. She provided a nice summary of local restaurants and sights to see. 5 minute walk to boardwalk and town. Hardware store close too. They were in the midst of remodelling the bath/showers, and we were unable to use them. Wifi was too weak to use on the face dock.

Nice place., 2015-11-23
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (908)

Stayed on one of the t heads. Very few wakes. About 10PM a large dragger went by. It seemed totally out of place. No one works here on Sunday so their is no one to help you tie up. We were fortunate that 2 people on the dock came to help us. Heads were good. You are surrounded by condos.

Excellent marina/Great beach access, 2015-05-07
Captain: , Deltaville VA (121)

Good, clean marina. Nice restroom/shower facility. Marina manager, Deborah, is very accommodating and friendly. For beach access, recommending dinghy ride to the northeast dock as it is only a block walk to beach. Restaurant selection is less than desirable. Would definitely stay at this facility again. Five stars for the Marina and good beach access.

Gracious hospitality, 2014-09-30
Captain: , Key West Fl (30)

My family and I owe this place a debt of grattitude. We broke our rudder coming in the inlet at Carolina Beach, and have received shuch a warm embrace from here. When you get stranded in a place where you don't know anybody and without a vehicle to gather supplies for food and repairs, you can't put a value on this kind of hospitality. Thank you Jerry, Jim, Michael, Deborah and the most amazing people at the Carolina Beach Boatyard next door, Dave, Eric, Bill, Brandy, robert and the cutie pie dog next door Dina forgiving us a leg up when we were back on our heels.

Great location, 2014-08-29
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

This is our home port for now. fanastic town with many places to eat, beach, hardware stores, local shops.... Pool, rest rooms are nearly perfect. Great protection and no current to deal with.

In the middle of the action,, 2014-08-24
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Arrived 6/9/2014 for a month stay. As previously written, Randy is very busy running three marinas and the city mooring field, but that day he met us at the dock. Marina is going thru remodeling with new floating docks being installed. We were at one of the older docks, which decided for us to high-tail it further inland up the Cape Fear river to Wilmington to ride out Hurricane Arthur over the July Fourth weekend. Returning to FPYC to spend the rest of our time we found no lingering issues with the storm so decided to stay for the remainder of our month. Conveniently located, with grocery, hardware stores, a small boat repair shop who can order parts a block away, not much more one could ask for. Slips are privately owned, and most owners are very friendly, not any other cruisers there during our stay. We were charged $600 for the month, electricity included. No wifi ate up our phone data plans, Beacon WIFI service available, but very expensive, especially since we have five devices to connect. Carolina Beach is a working man's beach/vacation community, but a well run town with free outdoor concerts, fireworks on Thursday nights, and farmers markets on the weekends during the summer . Very easy to get around by bicycle. Oh, free ice available at the club house, unless weekends, machine can't keep up with summer demands.

To expensiv for what it is, 2014-08-16
Captain: , Cape Coral (221)

The price was $ 1.75/f and not $ 1.50 as they wrote in activ cptn. This is to much for what it was, but we had to stay overnight. If you stay on a monthly base, it could be perhaps better.

Nice Yacht Club, 2013-12-29
Captain: , Vance,Texas (70)

Nice clean facilities. Nice Floating Docks. Cable TV.

Great Place, 2013-12-20
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (250)

We docked here from June to November. Loved it. Will come back. Close to Carolina Beach shops, restaurants. Lots of boat services available. Floating docks, great amenities, cable TV, great bath house facilities and laundry, nice pool, reasonable rates. Harbor Master Randy is very helpful with a lot of knowledge. People were very friendly. Will plan to stay here again.

Great Marina, 2013-12-11
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (432)

Randy is very helpful and friendly. Be sure to be clear on your plans for dockage because he is very busy with multiple hats for this marina and as the town dockmaster. We were a little loose in this regard and that led to some confusion in our dockage plans on our visit.

Facilities are very nice. Friendly permanent slip holders. Beautiful docks. Many casual places to eat and shop nearby. They're fairly strict on pets. Our well-behaved lab is friendly and greets people and we were told very quickly to leash him.

Great little spot!, 2013-11-03
Captain: , Charleston, SC (40)

very quiet, no current in basin, Randy and Diane were helpful and friendly. would definitely stay here again!

Nice stop, would stay here again, 2013-08-07
Captain: , Live-a-board (350)

Randy and the crew here are very helpful. Nice facility and close to many things you need. There is also a muni-dinghy dock at far south end of cove so you can dinghy to shops and boardwalk. Would definetly stay here again.

Only 50 amp power so if you're 30 amp boat you'll need a pigtail

Great location and clean marina, 2012-08-06
Captain: , Stuart, FL (167)

Most of the slips are privately owned so there is a quiet peacefulness here. Owners are welcoming and friendly. The marina is kept extremely well but the location is superb: within walk or easy bike to boardwalk (Britts donuts!) many restaurants, hardware store, and a small food market. Food Lion is about 2 miles away, but Harris Teeter is coming into the area about 1/2 mile away. Fireworks on Thursday and Farmers market on Sat. Beaches are not too crowded with good surf. Excellent seafood market nearby.
Negatives are wakes from fishing charters that go in and out twice a day during high season. Not all docks have pilings between slips to aid in docking. There is some current and the afternoon wind can be very strong down the fetch of the harbor.

Nice little marina, 2012-07-12
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

Lovely surroundings with pool, nice bathhouse and laundry. Be careful about making sure you have the right power and size slip before you dock. Had to dock three times before adequate length and 50amp. Do not go to the Lazy Pirate to eat. Closest walk but bad service and worse food.

Convenient location, 2012-06-29
Captain: , St. James, NC (253)

Stayed here for the weekend. Location is very convenient to downtown. Town has fireworks on Thursday nights. Dock master may try to put you in a slip to narrow for your boat or with the wrong power, so ask questions before going in. Nice swimming pool, club house and showers. Try was the Deck House Restaurant in downtown an easy 15 minute stroll.

Boat shopping, 2012-02-08
Captain: , SeaScape Marina (310)

Fall of 2011 went to look at a boat for sale that was kept at Federal Point Yacht Club. Club was well maintained. Slips well maintained. Bathrooms and showers were neat.

Good Stopover at Carolina Beach, 2010-10-19
Captain: , Lancaster VA (393)

We have stayed here 3 times. The faci;ity is fast rate. Docks are in excellent condition and the dockmaster Randy was very helpful getting on the T-head. The showers are in excellent condition and very clean. No grocery store is nearby, but McDonalds & Hardries & Dominos Pizza and local restaurants are in walking distance.

Carolina Beach, 2010-06-22
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (273)

Great marina with floating docks. Friendly and helpful harbormaster.
Laundry $1 and very clean restrooms. Has a swimming pool and is in walking distance to the boardwalk. Britts Donuts on the boardwalk has the best donuts in the country.
Slips $1.50/ft

Nice marina, 2010-05-23
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (391)

Nice place to stop, close to downtown Carolina Beach. Limited transient space. Now $1.50 per foot/$5.00 30 amp power. Must call on phone, do not monitor vhf.
