Reviews for Fairmont Hotels Chateau Montebello Marina
Beautiful Resort, 2017-07-13
Captain: , Denver (200)

Beautiful but expensive.

Nice Marina but Wonderful grounds and Lodge, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Rochester, New York (223)

Marina is nice and the facilities are clean and the staff helpful. However what makes this stop is the lodge and grounds. Just having a drink in the main lobby makes the stop worthwhile.

Glad we stopped...expensive, 2016-07-12
Captain: , Baltimore (529)

This is not a 5 star stop. At $3.80/ft, it is very expensive.
The marina is floating wooden docks that a showing their age. The marina staff are nice but were surprised by our boat and changed where they wanted us after we had already entered the marina. Fortunately, we had calm winds.
The dining options were explained to us by the marina reception...the main dining room had a dress code. She recommended we dine in the BBQ Buffet on the patio. Be forwarned - the buffet is over $50 per person.
The Fairmont Wifi drops connection often.
The grounds are very nice and we enjoyed a nice afternoon under the tall trees reading books with a cool breeze from the river.

Nice marina and awesome hotel, 2016-07-04
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

Well worth the stop, very friendly staff, great food and awesome hotel.

You Get What You Pay For!!, 2016-06-28
Captain: , Lexington, Kentucky (160)

What a wonderful stop. The manager was on the dock to take our lines when we arrived. She then registered us and made dinner reservations at the hotel for us. You have access to all the amenities of the resort while you are docked with them. The log hotel is not to be missed. The dinner was very, very good. Don't skip this stop!

Worth every penny!, 2015-08-19
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

(6-12-15)Typically, the slip fees would have us looking elsewhere, but how many times in ones life does the opportunity to dock your vessel at a historic Canadian resort and enjoy all the ammenities offered to the hotel guests? Besides the nearby boat fire, resulting in total loss,( the marina had the charred remains hauled off in less than 24 hours), we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The indoor pool is awesome, dinner was spectacular and the nearby town was an additional treat to behold. Don't miss this stop.

This is 5 Star!, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Ocala FL (586)

We stopped for lunch and had to have the dock hands move a DeHaviland Beaver floatplane to have room. Transient dock is only large enough for 2 trawlers (or one float plane and a trawler).
Fee is $50 with a $20 cash deposit. if you eat at the hotel, the fee/deposit is refunded.
The food on the terrace for lunch was extremely good and cost as much as any of the restaraunts weve eaten at from Florida to here.
The grounds are impecably maintained and there is every activity possible here.
Would love to come back and spend a week here some day!

Great facilities, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Ottawa (804)

You get access to all the hotel facilities. Great place to stop. Restaurant is excellent for dinner. Food much better in the inside restaurant than from the buffet (and almost the same price).
You can stay on the outside dock for $50 a night. No power and exposed to wake. Tie long spring lines and loose bow and stern. Wakes die off after supper.

A Grand Place, 2014-09-20
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4307)

The biggest complaint on Active Captain has been the lack of free WiFi. Montebello has remedied that, providing quality WiFi for free.

This marina provides cruisers access to one of the highest quality resorts in North America. While the marina fees are higher than others in Canada, the amenities here are huge in comparison. The lodge is an amazing structure, worthy in itself for a visit. The list of resort options seem almost endless.

Visiting after the high season, we found that the shortened hours had one option closed on Sunday - the Land Rover Experience. Participating in an off road driving course would have been a unique experience. The ice driving course would be a blast, but impossible to visit by boat at that time.

We participated in the Sunday brunch at the lodge. A most amazing spread of outstanding dishes, so tempting that we both over indulged, to a great extent. If you can time your visit for a Sunday, you won't be disappointed.

If you are hunting for a place to park your boat overnight, this is not the marina for you. If you are looking for an enjoyable experience that will create memories lasting a life time, then the bit of premium pricing will be well worth the investment.

Once (and only once) in a Lifetime, 2013-10-17
Captain: , Port Huron (423)

An average to above average marina but with very nice grounds and facilities at the resort. Over $150 for dockage and pumpout for a 36 footer. If the downtown marina had better reviews I think we would have stayed there and biked to the resort. Then we could have afforded dinner. It was fine for one night in our life, but wouldn't pay that much again.

Resort with all the amenities, 2013-08-21
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

This is a Fairmont property and as stated by another reviewer go on line and join the Fairmont Presidents Club for free Wifi. The resort is pricey at $3.30/ft but it is a resort. The admirals enjoyed the spa and they have good biking trails. You can bike to town for groceries and wine and beer. They have several levels of restaurants however many boats cook on board.

Free wifi with Presidents Club sign up, 2013-07-26
Captain: , Key Biscayne FL (3171)

If you join the Presidents Club free online, you get free wifi

Too pricey, 2013-07-24
Captain: , Mystic (909)

We stayed one night mainly to see the chateau and the grounds. You can no longer stay the night for the cost of a meal, however you can stay the night if you rent a hotel room at $200. I only rate it 3 stars because of the chateau itself. The marina is very poor in my opinion for $2.75 per foot. Oh and add $14 and you can have wifi service.
I recomend skipping this stop.

Great Place, but..., 2013-07-19
Captain: , Winter Garden, Fl (2391)

It is what everyone else describes - a beautiful property with very high class amenities that you pay a price for enjoying. The docks are fine - finally a place with 50 amp hookup! Very busy, especially on the weekends! Lots of boats with the captains varying degrees of boating skills and sobriety coming and going all day long. Great water quality - no need for filters here.

The resort is just that - a hotel. A very nice Fairmont hotel, but not a "attraction" as some literature made it out to be. They have lots of activities - horse back riding, golf, skeet shooting, etc. - all at a price.

Sometimes you have to Splurge, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

After many nights anchored or on a lock wall, this was a welcome (but expensive) relief. What a beautiful place. The hotel is now part of the Fairmont Hotel chain, and it is really nice. The marina is nice with great help from the dock staff. Everything you need is here, but be prepared to pay. There are several great restaurants on the property and an indoor and outdoor pool. We loved it for one night on our way to Ottawa and the Rideau.

Good spot to stop, 2013-01-31
Captain: , Gloucester, MA (807)

A visit to the Chateau is a treat, and the food is great. The marina is no frills and a bit expensive for what it is, but a good stop none the less. A local boater passed us the communal bottle of bug spray to spray out lines and fenders to fend off the dock spiders. They are part of doing business in this part of the world, adn the wpray helped.

Stop for lunch, 2012-08-22
Captain: , Naples, FL (1096)

We tied up at the floating visitor's dock located on the approach to the marina. There is room for two 36' boats. There is a sign that states visitor dockage is $50.

We were permitted to dock free if we had lunch. Lunch was available on the patio and inside the chateau. Inside you can order a la carte or have the cold buffet ($21) or hot/cold buffet($28). We had one of each. The food was exquisite.

We arrived at the marina at 10:30 and left at 1 pm. No problems with the length of time nor was there a problem with our leased dog on the property.

We had enough time to walk the grounds and take some photos inside. Together with the incredible lunch we felt we got a bargain.

For those in a slow boat like us, we anchored the night before in South Nation River and will hope for space on the wall at Hawkesbury tonight.

Pricey but very nice, 2012-08-12
Captain: , Rockcliffe Yacht Club (65)

Spent one night in August 2012. As mentioned, somewhat pricey ($114 for 30ft) but the marina is excellent - high cost reduced my rating to 4 stars. All slips have 50 amp service and dock side water connections.
You have access to all the services of the hotel (indoor and outdoor pool, gym, tennis courts, walking trails, fitness trails, etc).
The marina staff were excellent, providing docking assistance, answering questions and recommending activities.
Highly recommend the BBQ buffet (reservations are required).
We will go back.

worthy stop, 2012-08-10
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

Agree with prior comments. $3.33 per foot. If over 40 feet request alongside docking. 50 amp. Dogs are welcome on leash. We spent two nights and enjoyed it. Great restaurant but $$. Town is short walk about 3/4 mile. Indoor pool and exercise facility.

High class stop $$$$, 2012-07-19
Captain: , Lake Champlain, VT (271)

Pricy, but elegant stop with lovely grounds to explore. Restaurants, pool, a killer shower, washing machines, and very friendly staff.

Price kept me at 4 stars, but 5 star quality.

wonderful location, 2012-07-03
Captain: , Henderson Harbor, NY (431)

Very nice Marina...gas only but they will order in diesel for you--very clean, great docks, and exceptional hotel facility attached to Marina...worlds largest log built structure--great place to lay over for a day or two

What a sight to see, 2012-06-17
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1550)

We stopped and bought fuel and were treated to a place to dock while we looked around. What a sight. The biggest log structure in the world, and it is all logs. Well worth the time to stop and look it over.

Chateau Montebelo, 2009-07-28
Captain: , Club Nautique Deux Montagnes (204)

Very expensive. Mainly motor boat port.
Rates for 30 footer is $95 per night.
Gazoline and pomp out services available.
When you get a dock you have acces to all the 5 stars Hotel facilities. Pool, jacuzi, restaurants, bars, etc etc.
Of course you have to pay.

the best on the Ottawa river, 2007-12-26
Captain: , Hawkesbury Ontario Canada (160)

This is well worth the stop if you can get in. Pool, horse ridding, golf fishing etc.
