Reviews for Fairhaven Shipyard and Marina
Super service!, 2017-07-13
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (467)

The MARY KATHRYN blew a fuel hose (again the hourly engine room checks paid off) on the way from Cuttyhunk to Block Island. A diversion to Fairhaven proved to be a great idea. Fred the dockmaster found a dock for us (they were full) and Dave Bassett (yard manager) had a new fuel hose ready in no time. They made no significant profit from me, but I was treated as if I asked for full refit! They have my highest endorcement.

This is Where the In-the-Know Go!, 2016-06-15
Captain: , Waquoit, MA (41)

I own a passnger boat business and it has been a constant struggle to find marine services in New England - especially Cape Cod and the Islands, where we're based. In the Falmouth area, you have to know someone or have decades long relationships in order to get any attention. From the moment I called Dave Bennett at Fairhaven Shipyard it was a great experience dealing with them. We were assisted by Fred and his crew docking in a transient slip. They allowed an outside contractor, Harbor Hydraulics, to do excellent work on our steering at the dock. In touring the facilitiy, it was obvious that they do quality work on large commercial vessels down to 30' sailboats. My experience shouldn't be that unusual, but in this area, it warrants this 5-star review!

Our new home, 2015-06-16
Captain: , Buzzards Bay, MA (316)

Back in MA full time and after searching around a bit decided to ma FHSY our new home base. Excellent sevrice, dock guys are promp, professional and gracious. Fred runs the show on the docks and does a great job of accomodating everyone as much as possible. We have been impressed all the way around, especially having transitioned from Cape Cod marinas and the craziness out that way. The valve tech fuel is reasonably priced though the fuel dock is a fixed dock and can be a little challenging at low tide for a smaller boats like mine. It is an easy side tie to the pilings, just a long handoff for the fuel nozzle. Great place to hang out and enjoy the sunset and a quick shot from the dock to open water.

Block Ice available, 2014-10-20
Captain: , Moby Dick (60)

They have block ice here, can purchase when fueling. I've had problems finding blocks. Attendant has always been prompt & is in an easy location to get in & out.

Great Fuel Stop, 2014-09-03
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (253)

We always top off with diesel fuel here before heading to Cuttyhunk. Great staff!

Nearby Restaurant, 2013-02-07
Captain: , Fairhaven MA (446)

Margarets, several blocks North within walking distance is a great spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner some days. Inventive chef and low prices. I am a seasonal slip owner and could not be more pleased with the service. This Marina is the place to be to wait out bad weather. Extremely well protected by the Hurricane Barrier.

Showers are only OK here, but staff is very helpful, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (3132)

For the price, I would expect something a little more polished from the showers. Good people, though.

We're impressed, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

20-07-25 Our 1st stay here and feel that we got our money's worth. Great personel and very nice facilities. Would have stayed a week and had some maint. done if they weren't booked up. Was $130.00 cheaper than Newport Shipyard per night and much better dock facilities. We will return.

Well protected, good personnel and facilities, 2012-07-23
Captain: , Mashpee, MA (541)

Just inside the hurricane break water, concrete floating dock, 3.25 ft overnight with good showers. Margaret's was great for lunch, Elizabeth's (sister) next dor was closed on Mondays (Margaret's closed on Tuesdays), outstanding seafood choices. Nice shops a short walk further past Margaret's.

Great stopover to Nantucket, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Huntington (465)

If you are looking for a place as you head east to Nantucket and want to get closer than Newport but don't want to go all the way to the Vineyard then I recommend Fairhaven Shipyard South. Concrete floating docks, helpful dockhands, and real working vessels on the other side of the dock put you in the proper mood. The is not much to do in Fairhaven but fortunately there is Margaret's. The food is great (I had one of the best calamari dishes with a little chorizo and stuffed lobster that I am still dreaming about). It is BYOB but if you want liquor go to its neighbor Elizabeths which is run by the same owners.

We try to keep cruising speed at 9 knots so with Fairhaven on 45 nm from Nantucket it is a great location.

No Nonsense Service, 2010-09-03
Captain: , Barnegat NJ USA (695)

We waited out a hurricane in early September 2010 here, tied alongside with excellent results. First rate service and know-how.

Nice Stop Heading South, 2010-06-24
Captain: , Edenton, NC (115)

All around working shipyard, catering to small craft as well as the big boys. Full service, wifi, showers, bathrooms. Slips were over $3 per ft/night, pl,us another $10 for electrical hookup. Dockmaster and staff very helpful.

Good repair facility, 2009-06-07
Captain: , Miami, fl (3666)

their prices were significantly lower than Newport yards.

Docks and Amenities, 2007-04-23
Captain: , Newport, RI (249)

Marina floating docks are excellent. Parking can be tight at peak times. Oriented to both commercial and pleasure boating, so huge travel lift and excellent repair facilities. Staff generally friendly and helpful. Gated facilities with access card. Restaurants and convenience store within easy walking distance.
