Reviews for Eureka Public Marina
Questionable Place to Stay, 2015-10-06
Captain: , San Diego (10)

We should have gone straight to Woodley Island Marina. The Eureka Public Marina looked "OK", when we tied up, but then we met the staff and it started downhill from there. Staff does not like out of area traffic. Paid premium price for overnight dock space; be selective, since most of the marina is shallow, once inside the outter docks. "Secure" is not how to describe this marina, at night. Pot smoking marina tenents, dogs running around all night, off-leash, and parties all around. Local live-aboards are unfriendly, at best; we felt most were checking out what to steal from our decks if we left to hit the town.
Having a 60' Cruiser means always being a target, but this was made obvious by all the homeless gathered around the docks. First time on our trip that we had to post watches while tied to the docks.
Stay at Woodley Island. We moved the next morning: didn't even ask for a refund of the next 2 nights we prepaid.

FYI: NO Fuel at this marina; Gas & Diesel is available at Englund Marine Store just upriver. NO restaurant at Eureka Marina; Woodley has one onsite. Grocery is a few blocks away, but you have to walk past homeless population to get to it, or any other business near the Eureka Public Marina.

Eureka Public Marina and National Weather Service, 2014-09-09

Stayed one night on the way down the coast. Side tied on the inside of breakwater dock, definitely shallow at low tide. Good solid marina, secured at night, reasonable washrooms for paying customers, laundry, etc. Harbormaster was extremely helpful, offered a lift to a fueling station with our jerry cans. As a bonus, NWS Eureka is just across the river, and welcomed our phone call (NOAA NWS 707-443-0574). Great to have a live conversation with the folks who make the forecast and confirm our understanding of the conditions ahead!

Mega Yacht Dock, 2014-07-28
Captain: , Newport Beach, CA (360)

While transiting the coast southbound, we spent several nights in Eureka. We were placed at the "mega yacht" dock across from the island about 2 miles east of the actual marina. Very private. Good power. No wifi at the mega yacht dock. Lots of activity on the small dock at all hours of the night. Lots of questionable people hanging around the area, but we had no problems. Great pizza/Italian restaurant in town, Gabriel's... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Side tie inside K dock calm but depth barely 6 ft. at low tide. Concrete docks good hookups & lighting. Locked at night. Restrooms good with laundry. Free wifi but never could get signal. Good AT&T cell coverage. Great access to downtown restaurants and stores including Costco on foot.

Good for a quick or extended stay, 2012-06-04

Full service marina with helpful people. Transient moorage on outside of 'K' and 'A' dock are a exposed to NW winds and boat wakes but remains resonably calm most of the time. Centrally located and well maintained with all the basic services. Harbor master went out of his way to help us. Nearby attractions and services.

Good Facility, 2008-08-21
Captain: , Vancouver BC (500)

Was here in 2001 on way to Mexico, well maintained close to all facilities, fuel dock is 10 mins further up the inlet but is tie to pilings, reaonable chandlry on site at fuel dock. Mayor invited us to office to greet foreign visitors.
