Reviews for Essex Marina
tired docks, but great facilities, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Peekskill (30)

We have a 43' boat and were "pulled" into slip due to low water and some underwater obstructions, then were told another boat would be docked in front of us. This limited our ability to go out and enjoy the lake. A smaller boat would do better here, but the town and bathroom facilities were very nice. We enjoyed two nice dinners in town all walkable. Pump out broken (very disappointing). the view and the area is wonderful, not sure this would be a prefered destination in the future.

Very friendly place, 2016-08-04
Captain: , North Hero, Vt (31)

We stoped there for one night in mid july 2016. Bary, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Despite the main dock shows its age, Bary was working hard to keep it solid. We took a walk in the Essex town and really enjoyed the beautiful place. We'd have appreciated a grocery store nearby, but, as Bary explained, very little houses have year round residents... Obviously not enough to keep a grocery business profitable. Bottom line, we'll stop there again in the futur!

Most interesting marina owner, 2015-10-20
Captain: , Fairhaven MA (446)

Pulled in 10/14/15 aoubt when they were closing for the Season, but despite this we were made most welcome by Barry the loguqsious owner. You want to learn of the business history in Essesc, he's the guy to talk to, in addition to his auto/motorcycle memorabilia collection in the old gas station. It was obvious there had been quite an investment recently in the facilities after the great flood in the Lake several years ago. Gas was non-ethanol, worth paying extra for. $ 1.50/Ft seemed reasonable.

Go next door, 2012-07-26
Captain: , San Francisco (151)

Almost signed on here for a slip for the rest of the season, then I compared the reviews for Essex Marina vs Essex Shipyard. After I talked to both I could tell that Essex Marina had a problem with customer service.

Good stuff, 2011-09-07
Captain: , Essex (10)

Nice spot, great restaurant, good people

Agree with "not very friendly, 2011-03-01
Captain: , Stony Point, NY (852)

We felt like we were imposing by arriving wanting fuel and pump out. Management was complaining the whole time. We like the town, so we stayed at the southern marina where we were welcomed warmly.

Not very friendly, 2011-01-28
Captain: , Montreal (383)

Did not have a good experience there. Maybe just a bad day for the fuel dock attendant but nevertheless. No help to tie to the dock and no help to leave. Felt like I was unwelcomed and disturbed the heck out of them. Would never go back there.

Nice marina & town, 2009-09-26
Captain: , New Bern, NC (73)

Beautiful view. Clean restrooms and very nice showers. Picturesque town. Vintage 50's Texaco station attached with interesting memoribilia and Indian motorcycles. Worth a visit.
