Reviews for Essex Boat Works, LLC
Professional Crew Goes the Extra Mile, 2016-09-20
Captain: , Essex Connecticut (10)

In our 30th year of boating in CT and we have never worked with a friendlier and more professional crew. Each repair request has prodiced timely estimates, through cleanups with top workmanship. Essex Boat Works has earned our highest ratings and appreciation. We would not hesitate to recommend them for repairs, improvments and excellent brokerage services.

Outstanding service work, 2013-05-20
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (952)

While on a mooring in Port Washington, we experienced power loss and had lost our inverter. The local yards were all slammed with Sandy clean-up/repair and could not help us until late in the summer. (We are in route to Maine from VA). We received a recommendation for Essex Boat Works. We called them and they said they could dedicate the time for us in the next few days to help. We ordered the inverter from West Marine for next-day delivery, left Port Washington for the 78 mile trip to Essex. We arrived on May 16, the inverter on the 17th. They started working on it on the 17th but could not finish. Unfortunately that was a Friday but the work was finished on Monday. They were professional, honest, hard working and we would recommend them for any repair work. It was well worth the trip to have such competent professionals working on our boat.
It was a lovely place to get %u201Cstranded%u201D. Essex is a quaint, fun town with several good restaurants, shops, grocery, wine store, and laundry facilities. We eat at the world-famous Griswold twice and enjoyed the Black Seal. We were glad we had the opportunity to be in Essex, CT and meet the fine people.
The owner of Essex Work Works, Ted, was very impressive. At closing time on Monday, he came down to the boat since we would miss us in the morning. He thanked us for our business, wished us a good trip, and visited. That is great customer service.

I bought an older wooden boat this year and had it recomissioned after 4 years in dry storage. I chose Essex due to their reputation and was extremely pleased by their hard work and attention to detail. Will recommend them to anyone.

Good Weekend Service, 2011-07-29
Captain: , Denton, TX (435)

During recent 100 degree heat our genset failed. Essex Boat Works answered the phone on a Saturday and arranged for their on-call Tech to come in and clean out the heat exchanger. Very courteous and helpful. Easy access to their facility and convenient location to the town. They also have a few transient slips with power.

Great Place, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Bayshore (173)

We were anchored just west of Knot Island, and took the dinghy to Essex...could not find a place for it. Went to Essex Boat works and explained my problem, he said "Just put it where you can fit".
Went to tour the quaint town, returned several hours later and thanked him. A large yard with all the trimmings.
