Reviews for Ess-Kay Yards
Wintering Over, 2016-09-17
Captain: , Portland, ME (200)

Nothing much to add to the already complimentary comments. Kim, Ethan, Tammy and Mark are first rate. Very comfortabe leaving our boat here in covered storage for the winter. A full service yard with excellent customer service. Would not pass by his stop.

Special People, 2016-09-10
Captain: , Baltimore (70)

Kim is a great host and the ships store is very well stocked. Ethan did an excellent job on our old yanmar 3HM35. This is a very welcoming marina.

I would check the price for Diesel fuel and compare with Winter Harbor Marina, 2016-09-07
Captain: , Willsboro Bay Marina (2401)

We went by and ask pricing for diesel... It was 2.31$ compare to 2,21$ at Winter Harbor Marina. Trust but Verify!

Easy Docking Great People, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Southport Queensland (300)

Docked here for three days in July. Had some bilge pump repairs done by Ethan and all went well for a good price. Kim is very helpful and knowledgable which makes for a pleasant stop. Very quiet and a bit out of the way but th eloan car makes it all easy.

Best stop on our Erie trip, 2016-07-23
Captain: , Tempe, AZ (210)

Big shady trees, lawn with picnic tables and very nice, helpful owners. There is no Uber in Syracuse, so I was fretting about how to get to the airport. No worries, Kim's daughter drove me over for a nominal contribution to her college fund.

Great stop, 2016-07-15
Captain: , Blanco, TX (420)

Easy in, out, Kim was great, very helpful with any information needed, courtesy car to excellent grocery store, propane, and any other provisioning needed. Didn't need diesel, wish we had, great price. Ship store very well stocked with marine supplies/charts and more. Would def stay here again

Simply the best, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Racine Wisconsin (161)

Kim and Ethan welcome you to their Marina personally. They have run it for 40 years. They have a lot to offer including hospitality, SUPER CHEAP FUEL, great ships store, full repair facilities, courtesy car, good wifi and great views. This is a must stop. Your total satisfaction is their focus.

Great place, 2016-07-04
Captain: , Bedford, NH (625)

This is our second time staying here. We arrived just before closing but that didn't stop Kim from staying to fuel us up, pump us out and help us with all kinds of supplies from the store until almost 10pm. Then, lent us a car and directed us to the only place still serving food that late. The store has just about everything you could need, or want. (Not food) Convenient location right on the Erie after crossing Oneida Lake. Maybe not the fanciest place but they have everything you need and will go out of their way to help you. We are a 50', 3 1/2' draft boat and had no problems. We will always make this a stop when traveling through this area.

nice store, 2016-06-17
Captain: , Sodus Bay, New York (220)

great little store with a little of all things nautical. they made sure to offer active captain discount

Pleasant place, 2016-06-12
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (230)

We stopped here for one day - turned out to be three due to high winds. Pretty location. Not a swanky marina but amazing marina store with seemingky anything you might want - fenders, charts, filters, etc. Everyone friendly. Kim was extremely knowledgeable and gave us advice on crossing Lake Ontario. They are a full service yard and because we were waiting for winds to subside, at the last minute we decided to have some work done. We were pleased - they knew what they were doing and charged a fair price. Competitive diesel price. Courtesy car which enabled us to go in town for restaurants and groceries (Wegmans!).

Ess-Kay is a nice marina with great folks, 2016-05-29
Captain: , Louisiana, MO (295)

After getting my Mainship out of storage, we spent 3-4 days at Ess-Kay provisioning, cleaning and storing stuff we brought back to the boat. Great folks and a nice place to stay. Also had a tech they arranged do some updates on my Garmin GPS and over-the-air TV system.

Best spot on the canal., 2015-09-29
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1866)

Here again Fall 2013 for 12 nghts while waiting for canal to open, still best on the canal, diesel was posted at 3.959 on 10-2-13, maybe less for volumne.
Stayed here 5-11-12. Been here many times for 30 years. Great people can do anything you want. Have had numerous repairs here over the years and they can do most anything. 75 ton lift. Fuel price is always the best in NY state. Diesel was 4.309 on 5-11-12.

5-19-13 Four nights ending 5-19-13. 1.10 ft for dock, 100 amp power no charge, diesel was 3.69. 75 ton travel lift and had prop repaired, outstanding job on a real bad prop and one day turnaround. Never miss this place. Prop shop located at 4--53-396N 077-16-313W (see marker).
5-22-14 Again, good facility for canal and all the parts and service you could ask for, best people who will do anything you need, diesel pump price 3.99, discount for volumne.
9-18-14 Here again, same comments, great people.

5-19-15 Stayed two with high winds on Lake Ontario, comments continue to be good. Diesel 3.159, 5 off for volumne.

9-20-15 Here again. 1.25 ft, inexpensive diesel, well kept marina, good people.

Great Service, 2015-08-17
Captain: , Racine, WI (515)

These folks never stop working. Stopped for fuel, pump out, and overnight stay. Easy in and out. Had loaner van for trip to the grocery. Great folks.

Ess-Kay Yard, 2015-07-31
Captain: , Lake Champlain (210)

This is a top notch working boat yard, run by professionals. This is not a yacht club.

Bow thruster replaced, 2015-07-16
Captain: , Falmouth, Maine (86)

We called a week ahead and had them get a new prop for our bow thruster. Boat pulled and thruster replaced in less than 1 hour.
Used the boatyard car to get a rental car and toured Senica Lake area.
This is the place to get work done if you need it.

Great service, 2015-07-10
Captain: , Gibson Island, Maryland (140)

Kim and Ethan went out of their way to help us with several issues on our boat. Loved going to Wegmans in the courtesy car.

Great people, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Haiku, HI (251)

Kim and Ethan are wonderful to work with and go out of their way to help solve problems. We spent over a week there while the canal was closed westbound, and took care of all sorts of niggling boat issues while we waited. Enterprise car rentals will pick you up and the boatyard is close to the airport and to the city if you want to go touring. The Ess-Kay July 3 barbecue was lots of fun as well.

great Marina, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Chattanooga tn (281)

Stayed from 6/8-7/8 with 2 weeks Home in Atlanta. For Birth grandson. Docks may be a little worn but Kim and Ethan keep everything in great shape. Good ship store and courtesy cars make everything accessible. Stayed longer than planned due to Erie Canal and Oswego closed but they helped to pass time. With rental car lot to explore in 2 hours including niagarA falls and Corning museumGreat July 3 BBQ. Sponsored by the Marina. When back in area will definitely return

We Love Ess-Kay, 2015-07-06
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (60)

With the Oswego Canal closed we have just spent five-days at Ess-Kay. Cannot say enough great things about this Marina - Kim and Ethan, and all of their staff. Helpful, knowledgable, relaxed. The place is old and the dock worn but you do not notice this. They have an annual July 4th picnic/pot luck that is attended by loopers and locals. It was a great place to spend the 4th. Liberal use of one of two courtesy cars makes provisioning in Cicero easy. Cicero has a Walmart, Target and Wigmans. Laundry is a small issue as there is no laundry on site but two in Cicero. The best is the Ships' Store which is amazingly well stock, and if they do not have it, they get it. We are sad to leave Ess-Kay and hope we are able to return.

Outstanding service, 2015-07-03
Captain: , Fort Worth, TX (450)

Great family run marina. Excellent service from the owner's. It's apparent that they care about boating, boaters, and providing their customers with a completely satisfying experience. The ship store stocks items that even West Marine doesn't carry. No need to wait to special order many items. Hardest working family we've seen in years. We are fortunate to have stayed here and will visit twice a year! Even when Locks were closed they made sure we had a great dock to stay in. 50 amp service worked perfectly, deep water slips, great fuel prices, great pump out service, nice wooden docks. Nice lawn with picnic tables, clean restrooms, dog friendly. Courtsey car. Can't say enough about the work ethic and commitment to customers from this family! They've set the standard! We will visit here twice a year.

Wow. Talk about service., 2015-06-28
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

I've never given five stars to a marina without actually staying there till now! When the Canals closed I tried to dock here and but alas they were full. When Kim said no -- I felt that she was as disappointed as I was! We were stuck in Brewerton for a week while waiting for the Canals to reopen and abviously had a lot of time on our hands. We spent one afternoon walking over to see Ess-Kay and were blown away. Kim couldn't have been nicer. She talked us through the various options for charts in Cananda, ordered us a new bumper, allowed us to use her pump out and fill with water at no cost. And her ship's store is about as well ordered as it could be -- even with charming nick nacks that we of course bought and enough recycled books to make a small library (the Admiral took 10!) I can't say enough about Kim, Ess-Kay and the team there. I only wish we had actually docked there. Perhaps, someday.

Excellent Marine Store, 2015-06-26
Captain: , Venice (589)

These folks are great and so friendly and accommodating. Marine store has all the charts and mapkits you need for the great lakes as well as lots of parts, filters, etc. Loaner car for trips to laundry, grocery store, WalMart, etc. We had several packages and mail sent here with no problem.

One stormy night, 2015-06-26
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

We had to wait for a GPS antenna. This yard did a great job on it's installation. Then the storms came with rains that closed the canals for a week. It was a great stay with Kim being very helpful. The ship store was handy. My shower pump went out however, they had a replacement in the store.

Great place to get Lock Bound, 2015-06-22
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (504)

The heavy rain from TS Bill caused the Erie and Oswego Canals to be closed for a week. We were fortunate to be at EssKay for the duration.
The folks here could not have been more helpfull and accomidating. Facilities are just wood docks but they are strong with big cleats. A well stockeds marine store and a BIG travel kift if you need bottom rerpairs.
A little secret--the showers on the parking lot side are nicer than the dock side!
I'll stay here again.

One of the very best, 2015-06-20
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (370)

After discovering many problems left unresolved by our wintering Marina, we returned to Brewerton, and were completely blown away by the courtesy and professionalism of the people at Ess-Kay Yard, who fixed everything that had been left undone by Trade-a-Yacht, loaned us tools, and gave us loads of free advice for fixing minor things on our own. You have probably read about the great service provided by Kim and Ethan at Ess-Kay, and I can say it is all true. Just a great place to do business!

Great stop, good source of info, 2015-06-12
Captain: , Greenville SC (250)

We appreciated using the courtesy car our first day, and then rented a car easily for more errands the next day. Found a variety of charts and guides for the Canadian part of our trip in their store. Friendly and helpful people. Clean restrooms. An all around great Marina! Four stars due to antiquated docks, but the power and water to our slip was great.

good stop along canal, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Kim is very helpful. Helped hook us up with Roger who lead us through the Welland Canal.
Good fuel prices and Pumpout . Excellent ships store.
Rest rooms clean and nearby. Have a travel li for haul outs . 50amp electric, water etc.

Excellent place to overnight, 2014-09-25
Captain: , Erie, PA (577)

$4/gallon diesel (9/24/14), pump out, clean showers, courtesy car, ships store with reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff. What more could you ask for?

Nice folks and cheaper fuel than the competition, 2014-09-21
Captain: , Catawba Island, OH (523)

Stopped here on 9/21/14 for diesel and a pump out. Nice lady who owns it. The fuel was cheaper here than any other place close by.

pleasant place to visit, 2014-07-31
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

stopped here after Oswego heading east. Extremely friendly and knowlegable staff. They had a good parts inventory and picked up a spare water pump impeller since we had just used our spare. Their prices were very competitive. Fuel prices better than we found further east and south

Until you experience this place . . ., 2014-07-23
Captain: , Houston, Texas (970)

July 8, 2014
We hit a submerged log as we entered Lock 20 westbound. This left us with no neutral or reverse so we called BoatsUS for a tow to the nearest place that could do the needed repairs. After a 14 hour tow thru 2 locks and across Lake Onieda, we arrived at Ess-Kay Yard at 10:30 p.m. Imagine our surprise when Kim and some of her staff were on the docks to help maneuver our boat into a slip, get us docked, connected to power, directed to restrooms and showers, etc. Then Kim was concerned that we hadn't had dinner and offered us a car to go find something to eat. This is better service than we would have expected from close family, let alone strangers. They are strangers no more, they're friends. They correctly diagnosed the problem the next morning, repaired our boat and got us ready to go in record time. Thank you Ess-Kay!!!

Great Place to Stop, 2014-07-17
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

We stopped here last year and had a great experience. We needed some work done and called ahead to Kim to set it up. She remebered us from June 2013. We were in the travelift the day after we arrived and they were able to complete my list during the 4 days we were away from the marina.
Nice that they are located just north of Syracuse and they provide courtesy cars to the transients. We had access to Walmart, Home Depot, Target and a bunch of local restaurants.
The word here is service and Ethan is good at anlyzing the problem and coming up with solutions that work. It is refreshing to meet people who are honest and know what they are doing.
I would not hesitate to stop here again and the fuel proces are very good, the best in the area.

Great Marina, 2014-07-11
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

Wonderful stop over. Great rest rooms and showers. Curtesy car was a blessing. Hammock, chairs, and picnic table under the tress pier side make for great evenings and al fresco dining. Very well equiped store, and cruiser's sharing library. We'll be back!

Top Notch, 2014-07-03
Captain: , Ottawa (303)

This family run facility is very accomodating and were able to source and install two high pressure injector lines for our aging Perkins engine. Super friendly staff and even a courtesy car to shop while wating for our parts. The chandlery has just about everything you can imagine.
Lovely spot to be stranded.

Rustic, Clean Marina and Best People Ever, 2014-06-29
Captain: , Little River, SC (476)

6/20/14 Can't say enough about the way you're treated at this marina. Kim and Tammy make you feel like part of the family. Courtesy cars are a great perk as well. Best fuel price we saw at $3.99.

Ess-Kay Yard, 2014-06-25
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (355)

Stayed for 10 days and really can't imagine going anywhere else in the Brewerton area. They really do offer just about perfect service.

Great service, 2014-06-19
Captain: , Pensacola, Fl (70)

We needed some work done and Ethan and his crew were very responsive and work was completed qiuickly. Kim is a great dockmaster and the courtesy car was great.

Great place to stop., 2014-06-11
Captain: , Port Sheldon (411)

Nice clean marina, simple but has every thing you need. Kim and staff were very friendly and helpful. Offering a courtesy car is a nice feature to go shopping or gettting to the laundrymat. f'uel was $3.98. Good price for the area. Would definitly stop here again.

Great Marina and Staff, 2014-06-06
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

Kim and her crew do a great job; very helpful and friendly. They have a wonderful ships store, one of the best I've seen in a marina. Would definitely recommend a stop.

Love this place, Kim rocks., 2014-05-25
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

Ess-Kay is a small marina attached to an amazing boat yard. They have fuel, pump outs a marine store that has all the usefull stuff that a West Marine has, and they have Kim!

I needed some fiberglass work done and called around. Only Ess-Kay had any hope of getting me someone on three days notice. But Kim was able to wrangle time with Gary to come out on Saturday to do the work. He did an amazing job. Even with me pointing to the spot, you would not know it was repaired. And it's not a bondo/gel repair. It was done right with glass mat and resin and then gelcoated.

Tammy was able to help me with multiple small parts request. The secret is to ask, they can find it if they know what you want.

Due to shipping issues, the new rub rail did not arrive. Ethan was able to reform the mangled rail into serviceable sections to get me through the next two dozen locks until UPS catches up.

Brewerton is small, place to go is Rosies takeout. We had huge sandwiches for lunch, and ribs one night for dinner. There is a small building next door where you can get ice cream and on Saturday watch a free movie.

Kim will loan you the marina car. We took it 20 mins to get to Smokey Bones BBQ, a Home Depot and a Wegmans. There is a mall, Target, Hobby Lobby, etc. in the same area.

Kim runs the marina, she knows boats, she's been doing this for awhile, she's a pro. She was super helpful and put up with me being in her store 2.3 million times in 4 days. If you need a yard to get a glass guy on no notice, or to pull your props and ship them out for repair on even shorter notice, Kim is your go to person.

Loved our 4 night stay there and my only wish is that we lived closer.

End of the season layover, 2013-12-04
Captain: , Alexandria Bay, NY (20)

We are wintering our boat here on our way to Alexandria Bay. The staff have been nothing but helpful and accomodating. The mechanic service is top notch. Definitely reccommend a stop here or a great place to keep your boat.

5 Days of peace and quiet, 2013-10-05
Captain: , Rockport, ON, Canada (265)

Waited here for the Erie Canal lock repairs. Very peaceful and pretty. Great marine store. Excellent fuel prices. Helpful staff.

Great place to visit, 2013-09-28
Captain: , Comox, BC Canada (101)

We stopped for 1 night and stayed 2, the marina and grounds are very relaxing and great view. If you require supplies the marina owner's gave us there a car to go shopping and resupply. The internet was good and the bathroom's clean. One of our nicest stoppes to date.
Thank you.

This is the right place, 2013-09-23
Captain: , Wicomico Church (600)

Cannot say enough about the wondereful folks running this marina/yard. Facilities are older but clean and serviceable. Fuel prices can't be beat; and the ships store has what you want or they will get it. Not near stores, but we rented at Enterprise for the weeken and visited friends in Canada and then shoped on the way back. Enterprise picks you up and returns you to the marina.. better than owning your own car.

Delightfully nice stopover, 2013-08-06
Captain: , Harrison Twp, MI (350)

Very courteous and helpful staff. Well stocked marine store. Clean bathrooms and showers. Best perk is the courtesy car to go into town for whatever you need. Gas and Diesel.

You're Always Welcome, 2013-07-29
Captain: , Castine, Maine (2964)

There are just some places you go that you feel welcome right from the start. Ess-Kay is like that. There is an open, friendly community there. The staff makes you feel like they're glad to see you. You see some chairs under the shady trees and a hammock - it just says stop in and visit. The owner, Kim, is second generation having taken over from her father. The well-stocked ships store makes it obvious that she knows what boaters need and want.We topped off our fuel as the price was great. Then we took the courtesy car to top off the provisions. It's just 5+ miles to a Walmart, Target, hardware stores and best of all a Wegman's grocery store. We have been hearing about Wegman's since we started up the Hudson. This was our first experience and it exceeded our expectations. The variety and quality can't be beat anywhere.Ess-Kay had everything we needed and more. Don't miss this stop.

Inexpensive fuel, clean facility, 2013-07-25
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

Kim and her crew will help out with most anything. Ship's store is well stocked with parts AND most any guidebook you will need. Everything was spotless, and they are pet-friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place & diesel fuel, 2013-07-22
Captain: , Lisbon, OH (50)

All the great things other reviews say. We used the courtesy car for dinner and restocking. The diesel fuel price was $3.71 day we stopped.

Friendly and genuinely helpful, 2012-10-12

Extremely Friendly, 2012-10-07
Captain: , Stoneledge, Cayuga Lake (60)

Kim and crew were very friendly and helpful. Although the facility may be a little outdated, the people make up for that. Helped us dock, fuel and even lent us a car to go to dinner. We stayed at the beginning of our journey and on the way back. We would definitely stay there again!

Very helpful and flexable., 2012-09-22
Captain: , Pelican Marina, Elizabeth City, NC (131)

Reserved for a night but by morning new we would have to leave for 10 to 12 days. Kim gave us a reasonable extended rate as well as taking us to and picking us up on our return from the car rental. Excellent stop.

Great place, 2012-08-20
Captain: , Louisville, KY (347)

Great people, good store...they have Canadian charts and courtesy flags, which are scarce in most places. Had major repair work done and they went out of their way to find good prices for services they could not do. Highly recommend you stop for a few days here.

Nice spot to spend a day or two, 2012-07-03
Captain: , Gore Bay (80)

Stayed July 3/12 (43 ft trawler) and was very pleased. Really nice grounds with picnic tables, a very well stocked marine store and excellent price on diesel at $3.49/gal. Not a lot of transient space so probably a good idea to call ahead. Would stop again.

Best place in town, 2011-08-13

Well run Marina, 2011-07-06
Captain: , Jensen Beach FL (138)

Can into the marina on short notice and was happy to learn that I could do a short haul here. Ethan was very thorough in his work and we were back in the water in short order. Highly recommend this facility for work or just a stay. A very pleasent expierience.

Top notch facility due to owners!, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

No doubt about it.....Kim & Ethan are totally client oriented. They will do anything to help Loopers. Very generous with time and information. Nice to have a loaner car. Kim will make sure all your needs are met, she knows where and how to get anything you need or want.

We left our boat here for 2 weeks while we flew home and felt totally secure leaving our new 44' Express here. Kim & Ethan NEVER go home...always at the marina looking after the Loopers. Even though the facility is dated, the care & concern of the owners overwhelmingly make it shine!

A wizard of engines repaired my not starting engine here within a minute. And that even after the workshop had closed already. Also great service in the marinas shop buying charts for canada and getting 10% off for Loopers

Great people running marina. Very helpful. Loaner cars available. Older bathrooms but clean. Great ship's store. We had to stay longer due to repairs on boat. Grocery and mall nearby along with several good restaurants.

It may be a little old and show some wear, but we had our best marina experience ever at Ess-Kay. Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable people -- decent fuel prices -- nice loaner car -- large assortment of parts, supplies, charts. Repair work was done quickly, correctly, at most reasonable prices.

We came along in June of 2010 to get our fuel polished, and we have been there ever-since. The owners, Kim and Ethan make you feel like part of the family. They are porbably one of the most accomodating marinas on the east coast.
Whatever it takes they will do to satisfy their customers.

Car to use for errands. Staff very friendly and helpful. Old showers not so good, I didn't use the newer ones.

What a Pleasure, 2010-07-20

As always a wonderful experience. George is gone now, but Kim is her always pleasant, cheerful and helpful self. She has almost everything you need in the store and will get it if not there. A mechanic is on duty and boat hauling available. There are two courtesy cars available and welcome adding a little gas for their use. Gas, diesel, electric, water, cable TV, showers, etc provided. Wegman's, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, just down the hi-way. A laundramat, liquor, post office, McDonalds are nearby. We always plan a stop over to replenish and refresh.

I decided to stay here for a week while my wife went back to Seattle. Nice people, good store, 50 amp service, loaner car, low key, well protected, warm fresh water for swimming. What's not to like?

Spent 3 nights at Ess-Kay, the slips are kinda in need of maintenance, but adiquiet for our use. Very nice shower facilities, and use of loaner car. Well stocked chandlery, and if they don't have what you need, or can't get it in time for you, they call others and will direct you to their location.

An easy place to stay, 2007-08-18
Captain: , Castine, Maine (17)

This is a laid back family owned marina. Fuel prices are low, $2.86 for diesel 08/07 and they can haul your boat and have a mechanic for most of your needs. This is a "No Wake" area and very quiet at night. Marina has a curtesy car and there is an Excelant Wegmans supermarket about 5 miles from the marina. There are no resteraunts close by.

We spent 6 days with George and Kim (Owners) and can't say enough about how accomadating they are. They were friendly and had a knowledgable and experienced service dept. Give them a try and you won't be dissappointed.
