Reviews for Esplanade Marina
A Mother's Day Treat, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Fort Myers Beach, FL (105)

It was the perfect location for a Mother's Day Treat. Arriving at the placid Smokehouse Bay location with Ron the Dockmaster waiting at an easily accessible dock made the landing very simple. As before the Marina was spotless and the services readily available. With two restaurants open for Mother's Day made for a superb day and evening. A great stop over or an extended stay.

Friendly Staff, Great Facilities, Excellent Location, 2016-02-07
Captain: , Cocoa FL (400)

Other's have perfectly described Esplanade so there's not much to add. We pulled in a day early during a cold front blow. We were not able to get anchor to set in Smokehouse bay but Ron found a slip for us and we stayed four nights. Thursday night's live music was fun and only went until 9:00. Everything from West Marine to Ace Hardware, to NAPA to Winn Dixie are a short walk away. The outside docks get a bit bouncy during strong NW winds, but it is nothing of concern. Ron and Joe are exceptionally helpful. All in all this is an excellent place to stop.

Esplanade Marina not to be missed, 2015-03-02
Captain: , N . KINGSTOWN, RI (162)

We have been here for 3 weeks and as others have said this is a Gem. Dockside to restaurants, Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, walking distance to just about anything you may need. Dockmasters are extremely helpful, pumpouts at the floating slips as needed. Private boat owners lounge with very clean restrooms and showers, free laundry. Smokehouse Bay is very protected and hardly any boat wakes. No cable TV service dockside.
if you are staying for a week the fee for a month is not much more!!

Low Key and Classy, 2015-01-28
Captain: , Nashville (108)

Our famly stayed here for the month of January and HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you need the convenience of a West Marine, Publix, Ace Hardware, Starbucks, Retail, Ice Cream Shps, Resturants and Live Entertainment (don't worry it does not go on later than 9 pm). Folks are super friendly and the Marina lounge, showers and wash room are fantastic. If you plan for 2 weeks go ahead and plan for a month (costs the same).

Everything A Marina Should Be, 2014-10-05
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (480)

Pulled in here 10 days ago for the long term. Was met by DM Kody & ADM Ron. They couldn't have been more accomodating, friendly, or professional. Great facility with excellent food and attractions. Very secure, too. Esplanade has become something of a "downtown Marco I." Try it, you'll like it.
No wonder that slips are scarce.

New dockmaster is quite welcoming to anchorers, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Fl (10)

We anchored in Smokehouse waiting out a blow for 3 days. The dinghy dock says for patrons of the esplanade, and we did go to Starbucks to make it legit. But the dockmaser was quite welcoming to us and was very flexible on how long we stayed. We heard later that he's new, and is more receptive to those at anchor than his predecessor. For those who take a slip, we heard the ladies room shower is less private than most we've been to. Summer rates are just $1.50 a foot!

A delightful surprise!, 2014-03-11
Captain: , Nashville (260)

This busy marina seems popular with SW FL locals, but is a hidden gem not widely known to distant cruisers! In a protected and calm bay, it offers access to all things boating. Boatyards, West Marine, restaurants, sightseeing, parks, live music, nice residential areas all within a walking radius. Harried, but kind and competent dock help always available and helpful. Seemed that reservations were a must during the winter week that we were there. Great spot to relax!

Esplanade Marina, 2014-03-08
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Esplanade Marina on Marco Island outstanding. Smack in the middle of everything a mariner needs. 2 grocery stores, West Marine, CVS, post office, UPS, restaurants, ice cream, coffee, boutiques, hair/skin/nail salons, Farmers Market, Tigertail beach, all within easy walk. Docks are concrete floating docks. Captains Quarters includes lounge with TV, washer/dryer, women%u2019s and men%u2019s bath/shower facilities. Esplanade promenade gives way to day and night life activity making people watching fun. Friendly and helpful dock attendants. Planned to stay a week turned into a month.

We checked this place out while we were ashore and we were pleasantly surprised., 2014-03-07
Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (573)

We didn't stay here, but we were anchored in Smokehouse Bay, and I had read some negative comments about there not being a dinghy dock available here, that they were not friendly to cruisers, etc. None of that is the case. The dockmaster (Chris) told us that they do keep a slip open (at the SE inboard end of B dock) for courtesy dinghy useage if you are patronizing the Esplanade businesses. And, they will provide dinghy dockage for $10 if you want to just tie up and go into town. And finally, even though we were anchored in Smokehouse Bay anchorage and not using the marina, Chris told us to call him if we needed anything. Very classy and professional, we will keep Esplanade in mind when we return to Marco Island.

Super Friendly & Convenient, 2014-02-25
Captain: , Bradenton FL (20)

We unexpectedly arrived here early morning by sailboat in November after some bad weather caused us to change our plans. All the staff was super firiendly and helpful. Great bathrooms, love being able to walk to CJ's for Happy Hour. Convenient to lots of amenities (great Farmers Market). I don't think it is fair for people to leave neagtive reviews based on no free dinghy dock. A lot of people try to anchor and dinghy in with trash etc and not buy anything. Why should the marina subsidize you? Please be a courteous cruiser

Transient Slip Experiance, 2014-02-18
Captain: , Worton, MD (31)

Marina clean, but no longer has cable nor discount cards for local restaurants. Caters primarily to lunch time patrons who tie-up to the docks. Odd dock security system. Need key to get on and off docks.

Not welcome!, 2014-01-04
Captain: , Minneapolis mn (20)

Wow...we anchored in the bay here and tried to use the dingy dock. These people do not cater to the cruisers, that's for sure. Dock is for Esplanade patrons only. I guess we are not patrons even though we bought coffee at Starbucks. Either that or I forgot my tweed jacket. There is a dingy dock at Windixie. Make sure to tell the manager that you appreciate that the dock is there. Our overall experience in the Marco island, Naples area has not been good. The locals are not friendly at all. Power boaters are the most inconsiderate that we have ever encountered! Intercostal from Naples to Marco island was insanity. I would recommend some boating safety courses to all but one person who passed us. As for the customer service at the marina, you may want to consider some courses also. This area could be very nice if the majority of people down here would remove the stick from you know where.

Nice Facility - easy access to stores, 2013-12-01
Captain: , Orange, MA (70)

Stayed here for four nights, November 25 - 28, 2013. Buddy boating with another boat which anchored in Smokehouse Bay. Nice marina w/floating docks. Easy access to Winn Dixie (accross the street) and reasonable walk to an Ace hardware and West Marine as well as other stores and restaurants. We biked to the Historical Museum and Tigertail Beach. Also walked to Tigertail Beach another day. Lots to do and see in the area. Only negative was very little privacy in the showers. Doors to both men's and lady's bathrooms open directly into the shower area. The shower itself has a curtain but the changing area directly in front of the door does not. Would be very easy to install a curtain across the dressing area and replace the large plastic chair with a bench. Mentioned it to the marina staff and was told they had done that previously but that people would "trip" on the curtain and so they decided it was a hassle and not to keep one there. Smaill negative but enough to keep me from giving this marina a five star rating.

Great stop on Marco, 2013-08-16
Captain: , Acworth, GA (225)

State of the art floating concrete docks. Very secure and deluxe facility. Several restaurants on site and grocery across the street. Pay attention to the markers when winding your way back to this first class marina. No fuel or services, but they are close by.

No dinghy docking, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Pentwater, MI (415)

This place discourages transients who anchor in Smokehouse Bay. You cannot dock a dinghy anywhere at the marina or restaurant complex. Oh there is a dinghy dock, but curiously occupied by a power yacht which they will not move. We docked passed the WinDixie next to the park; no signs present stating no dinghy dockage there.

Delightful, 2012-08-29
Captain: , Torquay UK (126)

Popped in here while on a land based Florida sortie, and found a haven of peace and quality. Office helpful, restaurants welcoming. Nice place to stay. You can anchor in the middle without charge. Brilliant.

Very nice Marina, 2012-05-18
Captain: , Hudson (274)

Entry is well marked and plenty of water in the channel. Staff are super helpful and friendly. The bathrooms and cruiser lounge are just great, really clean and nicely appointed. They also have wifi available.

Excelent Marina, 2011-12-22
Captain: , East Greenwich, RI (588)

We stayed here one night, excellent restaurants in Marina. There is a full size Winn Dixie directly accross the street. Very helpful staff, nice wide docks that are very well maintained. The captains lounge and bathrooms are very clean and beautiful. There are no bridges to access this marina, plenty of water. We will return again.

Excellent Marina, 2011-11-29
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

This is the 2nd winter we have kept our boat here. The docks are all new, floating and there is a pump out right in the slip.

There are bars and restaurants right at the dock and a grocery store right across the street. The best part are the people here. Bill and Chris are both great. They have stayed late to help us in and will do everything to make your stay great.

Great Facility - Dont want to leave, 2011-03-18
Captain: , Palm Beach Gardens, FL (1897)

We dont want to leave this marina, it is excellant and the staff really take care of you but the location is close to everything here is 2nd to none.
After three nights it is time to move north but this marina has to rate near the top even though there is no TV service there is plenty else.
We will be back for sure.

Best Waterfront Restaurant for boats, 2008-12-02
Captain: , Marco Island, Florida (23)

Best protected waterfront dining in Marco. Best Hapy hour on the Island and the food at CJs is some of the best fare on Marco. Try the Seafood Chowder or Rum butter Mahi Mahi.

Classy marina, 2008-04-25
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (2)

Spent the night at Esplanade on the way to the Keys. Very nice facility with floating docks and pumpout. Several restaurants and shops in the buildings fronting the marina. Docmaster Larry very friendly and helpful. About 30 min from Marco Pass. Plenty of deep water during transit thorugh Collier and Smokehouse bays. I would have given a 5 if they had wi-fi internet. They have 50 amp service even though the write up says 30 amp.
