Reviews for Erie Yacht Club
Great Facility-Full Service, 2017-08-28
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (174)

The best place to dock in Erie!

Well protected harbor.
Nice docks.
Beautiful clubhouse with restaurant and showers.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Top Notch Facility, 2017-07-12
Captain: , Sacramento, CA (416)

Came in with short notice to the fuel dock/marina office. quick nd easy to be assigned a slip for the week. Docks and utilities are well maintained. All facility amenities are available to transients. Bikes are available to travel around the grounds. Great to watch kids learning to sail.

Top Notch Club, Location and Facilities., 2016-06-13
Captain: , Erie, PA (160)

As a 30+ year boater and 10+ year EYC member, we could not ask for better Club, People or Facilities. Proud to be a member.

Pristine facility in a protected corner of a beautiful natural harbor, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

We were invited by a member for a transient stay here. Beautiful grounds, meticulously maintained. Friendly members made us feel welcome. An active club with weeknight sailing, and a busy bar/restaurant scene at the clubhouse. Transient dock is close to the clubhouse and a simple side-tie arrangement. Mostly wide fairways, but a couple tight corners.

First class club. Excellant service at gas dock., 2015-06-10
Captain: , Rocky River, Ohio (20)

Early season transit from Toronto to Cleveland. Gas dock was very accommodating and prompt service (fuel and dockage registration). Gladly allowed 5 nights of transient dockage while owner was absent. Safe and secure. Allowed car drop in advance of arrival. A really nice place. The only negative was that it took 30 minutes + to get to the club from the mouth of the harbor. (and 30 minutes+ to get out when leaving.)

Train your staff, answer the phone!, 2014-07-24
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

Called the front office for docking, told to call the gas dock. Tried for 3 hours to get an answer (2 - 5 pm), after 4 rings it goes to a fax. Called front office again, they gave me a number which turned out to be the catering office. Left a message with the harbormaster, never returned. Called office back, they said gas dock number good, keep trying. Tried from 8 to 8:30 the next morning enroute, no answer. Called the harbormaster. He said come on it and tie up at the gas dock, we'll take care of you. Got to the dock, nobody there. A nearby member made a call and we got assistance 10 minutes later. Young man seemed eager, but not very informative. Got fuel, a pump out, and an assigned berth from him. During our transaction, he stopped twice to answer the phone and took care of those customers leaving me standing there. He had no information about the facilities. No idea where a grocery might be. We wandered up to the club after docking, and located the heads/showers ourselves. The next morning, we asked one of the cleaning staff about the laundry. She pointed in the general direction of where it was and kept on sweeping. All the machines were covered with cleaning supplies. We asked her about it, and she very huffily came in and dramatically moved her stuff so we could use the machines. The staff need some lessons in customer service. The bar and dining room is impressive and expensive, and the focal point of the club. But not at all condusive to just relaxing. I've seen much smaller clubs that had librarys/lounges available to kick back and get out of the heat. Docks were nice, diesel fuel cheap ($3.80), but our experience with the staff will prevent our returning.

Terrific Club, 2014-07-05
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Feel a little guilty rating this facility as I have been a member for 30 + years. New docks within last couple of years, floating and they are very nice. Clubhouse has food, showers etc. Great facility. Good power and water at all docks.

7-5-14 Everything previously reported all accurate.

5-22-13 Still a member, all previous is accurate.

First Class, 2013-08-11

Our first vist and won't be our last.

Worth extra distance in, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Lisbon, OH (50)

Worth the little extra distance to get to it farther in the protected bay. One of the best we have been to on Great Lakes and matches the best we have stayed on Great Loop so far. Also seems to be good place to get diesel fuel on Lake Erie($ wise). Good things others have said are true. Only down side was US customs check in but not EYC fault.

The flagship of yacht clubs on Lake Erie, 2012-03-02
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

We've docked here several times and have always had a marvelous time.
Things are a bit far away but someone is usually able to give you a ride into the shops, etc..

Grand Old Yacht Club, 2011-08-06
Captain: , Sandusky, OH (294)

Founded in 1895, this yacht club has retained the beauty and dignity we always associated with yacht club membership. Plus, everyone we met was outgoing and friendly. $1.50 per foot or first night free if you are a reciprocating club, a great restaurant, superior pumpout ($5 per tank) and high flow diessel and gas (be careful you don't slurp into the bay), add up to a better than expected stay. The docks are concrete floaters that nicer than anything I've seen before. 30/50 electric and water at every dock. Easy in and out and plenty of water for the blow boaters, like me. I highly recommend a visit on your next visit to the eastern Lake Erie region.

Erie Yacht Club, 2011-01-31
Captain: , Ashtabula YC, Ohio (278)

Erie YC is one of the finest YC on all of the Great Lakes, it has everything. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The guest docks are in front of the Club house, or they assign you to a vacant dock . There is a small beach on the west side of the grounds. The Clubhouse if fully equiped, beautiful and the food is great.
