Reviews for Erie Basin Marina
Pretty good marina., 2017-08-19
Captain: , Swifts Neck Wareham, MA (472)

I liked it because it was easy in and easy out, they have diesel and pump-out, and they answered the phone. 2 bucks a foot is pricey though. The bathroom and showers were a little too public for me and I'm pretty easy. Wife wouldn't go near them. Urban but scenic setting. Good starting point for Lake Erie.

Very helpful Marina, 2016-09-25
Captain: , Dunkirk NY (62)

The people at Erie Basin are stellar. They were very helpful during our unfortunately prolonged stay. We had an exhaust elbow blow and needed it replaced. While we waited for the part we spent three nights at Erie Basin. We had a slip in the docks but by the wall. Two of the three nights were very rocky...the third night finally settled down a bit but we were surprised that as seemingly protected area would still have so much turbulence.
Bathrooms were a bit of a hike but were very clean and air conditioned too.
Water and Electric was included with the transient slip.
The Marina is very close to a lot of attractions and if the basin were a bit more comfortable we'd go back again.

We left the boat in Tonawanda - Took the Bus 25B at McDonald, 2016-08-14
Captain: , Willsboro Bay Marina (2471)

After reading the reviews, we decided to leave our boat in Tonawanda on the South Wall. Then took the local bus 25 B which travels all the way on Delaware Ave to Buffalo Bus Terminus. You can use the Free Buffalo Metro Rail. We visited the docks. And we do agree previous reviews. The staff is friendly. Of course if you have no choice its is appropriate for overnight docking. We are satisfied of our choice not to dock at this location.

Erie Basin Marina, 2016-05-09

This Marina did not answer either of their VHF channels listed, nor have they answered either of 2 phone numbers we have for them. It is 0936 hrs. 050916

Late in the Season, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale FL (124)

Stayed here 1 night mid-October. Most of the slips were being removed. Restaurant was near closure for the season.

Staff was helpful and we had a good overnight and fuel. Convenient to the Erie Canal.

Don't dock on the Wall, 2015-07-19
Captain: , Sarnia (371)

We stayed here when The Eagles played at the Niagara Center. Lots of boats travelling in the outer harbour and in the marina caused considerable wake that the boat didn't stop rocking back and forth until the early morning. We couldn't leave fast enough in the morning and relocated to a better spot in the Buffalo River.
Staff are very friendly and helpful but could not accommodate us into a better spot. This is the second time we stayed here and ended up on the wall. Paid full price $2/ft, no hydro or water and the washrooms/showers were a 10 min hike.

Convenient location to Lake Erie; One of few nearby places for diesel, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

Stopped for 2 nights and refueling. Bouncy harbor with lots of floating debris. Lots of locals milling about--would not leave my boat here unattended for any length of time. Lots of goose poop everywhere. Restrooms near harbormaster's office were closed, and next closest ones were a LONG way to the other end of the big basin.

Any port in a storm..., 2015-06-20
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

We arrived here because it was the easiest marina to get to coming in from Lake Erie in dense fog. Diesel was $3.66, pump out did not work. We got a slip for $2.00 a foot. Staff was friendly, but restrooms at office were downright filthy. We bobbed like a cork all night at a slip next to the wall. We noticed that all the transient slips were next to the wall, as the locals wanted away from it. Showers were a long walk away, and not very clean. I won't come back again.

Pets allowed but can be rolly, 2014-07-18
Captain: , Wilmington, De. (152)

Pets are now allowed. We stayed here for Fourth of July 2014 tied to the wall east of fuel dock. The first night was fine but the wind kicked up the second day and we bobbed like a top, even though we were well inside the harbor, making it hard to get on or off. Great place to view the fireworks, but not sure we would stay there again unless we were certain of flat weather. Staff friendly and helpful. Good security.

no pets.. dirty docks, 2012-08-14
Captain: , reno beach ohio (10)

We thought this would be a good stop over on our way to the Erie canal. the fuel dock is very convenient, but at least .20/gal higher than any other place that we had checked. they put us in the dirtiest slip I have ever seen, along a wall. After cleaning off green moss, bird poop, and spiders, I took my dog off the boat ..on a leash...and was immediately confronted by security, and informed that we could NOT have our dog in the park. If you want to walk around the park and enjoy the marina, it's nice. Just don't expect to bring your pet. The bathrooms and showers are in a busy resturant, which wasn't very convenient either. For the price I would look elsewhere. I do agree with the other reviews, the local boaters are extremely friendly and happy to meet transients.

Warning! No Pets, Zero, Not Even Pet Fish!, 2012-06-14
Captain: , Warwick, RI (432)

We stopped for fuel here, they have diesel, get it now before the canal. Wardell's at the downriver at the beginning of the canal also has diesel. The fuel attendant was really nice and helpful. However, they would not allow our dog off the boat, not even for a quick walk on the leash! And we carry pooh bags. But they don't want even a quick leak being taken by either you or your animal. It is the one thing that Security is vigilant about. They may steal your boat but you can't let your dog on their soil. Needless to say, we took our slip business elsewhere.

Over priced and over rated, 2011-08-29
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

We stopped here for fuel and for weather. Reservations were a joke. Ended up tied to a filthy bug ridden wall. This marina is extremely rolly if there is any wind coming off Lake Erie. The kid working in the office was nice, but really didn't seem to know much about the workings of a marina. The so-called security guard didn't know nothing about nothing. It is in a nice location if you like parks and to walk. I wouldn't stay here again considering the nearby options. Also, I think they charge way to much for what they offer. The fuel dock was convenient, however, if not very rolly.

Excellent Marina, 2011-07-14
Captain: , Huron, OH (176)

We pulled in to Erie Basin after completeing the Erie Canal. The fuel dock was convenient and we had a very short hop over to the H dock. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The marina is a beautiful park with flower beds, carvings, and a small restaurant. The hand dipped ice cream was excellent. Even a $1.90/foot I would stop here whenever in the area.

Nice marina with good facilities and great people., 2011-06-25
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (748)

This was recommended by a friend and we found it to be even better than we expected. The marina has an easy to access fuel dock with gasoline and diesel at reasonable (marine) prices. They also offer pump-out and ships store facilities. Stephen at the docks was very helpful and has been there for 4 years. We stayed on H dock and the docks are sturdy and can easily accomodate a 42 foot sailboat with over 9 feet depth and 15+ wide slips. Most of all, the local boat owners on the dock were exceptionally and sincerely friendly. Four people offered us their car to go to a store for supplies. The transient slip charge was $1.90 per foot, but given all the amenities and the friendly helpful people, it was well worth it. I will go back there if I am ever in the area again. I give it a five star because of the people.

Erie Basin Marina, 2011-06-24
Captain: , Buffalo, NY (46)

Erie Basin Marina is located at the Northeast end of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Niagara River. The area has alot of history and the beauty of the Lake and the City skyline enhance the views. The marina is owned by the City of Buffalo and the folks that operate the marina for the city are always very corteous, helpful & informative. The slip and launch rates are more than reasonable and the security is ample with 24/7 guards on duty and alert. There are several very nice restaurants both on and adjacent to the marina and there is a US Naval Museum near the main gate. Publis & private charter cruises are available for those who don't have their own boat to cruise the lake.

Good stop, 2009-08-11
Captain: , Stuart FL Middletown RI (240)

Erie Basin Marina has a terrific location right on the edge of Lake Erie in a pretty park. Docks are so-so -- were were shoehorned into a slip that was very tight for our 35-footer, but it worked and we liked the setting. There are two restaurants on site -- one simple and inexpensive, one expensive with less than spectacular food. On weekends the park gets jammed, but there seems to be good security and the park entrance is closed at night. A few drawbacks, but overall a good facility in a great setting.

Erie Basin Marina, 2008-01-10
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (644)

We stopped here in June of 06. Dockage was about $2 per ft. Found the office staff confused and somewhat disinterested. They put us on a steel bulkhead which was ok.

This is a large and very well protected Marina. The whole surrounding area is a park with lots of flowers and quite a bit going on. Great people watching with lots of folks making the scene. Across the parking lot is a log strewn beach directly on Lake Erie.

Easy walking distance to a busy eatery where you wait in line and place your order, receive your food and find a table on the patio over-looking the lake. We had great cheesburgers, fries and beer.
