Reviews for Eliason Harbor
Eliason Harbor South Floating Breakwater, 2016-07-05
Captain: , Kirkland, WA (4478)

Stayed for five nights over the 4th of July weekend on the very recently renovated south floating breakwater. The new south breakwater float is excellent with shorepower and water. We were tied to the outside of the float and had no problem with wakes from passing boats.

Sitka is a wonderful stop, well worth the time. There are many sights to see, things to do, and fascinating history; nearly all are described in visitor literature. The town is a surprisingly bicycle friendly town. Most rides around town are less than a mile or two. One longer but very scenic ride is out to the Bear Sanctuary. A five mile each way ride along a new bicycle path along the Sawmill Creek Rd. SE of town.

We found this marina is one of the better run in SE Alaska. Concerned and helpful office and dock personnal will see that you have a stall for your length of stay. If you are bigger than 45' be prepared to move around if your stay is more than a couple of days as most of the stalls are hot brethed with the fishing fleet staying out five to seven days. Fair WiFi for free on the dock, slow speeds. Must see the Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear. Raptor Center can be walked to, about 1.5 miles very nice park to walk in.

Eliason Harbor and Sitka, 2015-07-15
Captain: , Bend, OR (70)

We came to Sitka for a day as we wanted to see the area and only had a short time. Very much enjoyed the feel of the area and the walk into town is a bit far but easily doable. Som nice shops downtown without the cruise ship-crazy feel of Juneau and Ketchikan.

We had dinner at Ludvig's Bistro (#1 in TripAdvisor as of this date) and found it excellent. Lunch the next day was at the Larkspur cafe which was also very good. Both restuarants are very busy and reservations are almost mandantory at Ludvig's in the summer.

The Murray Pacific chandlery at 475 Katlian St. is well stocked.

As an addition to Captain Kayley's comments, the transient north float is "L" shaped and only northern-most side of the L has power. All of the float has water. Berthing is on the inside and outside of the float and because of the outer breakwaters either provides calm water.

Good docks, a bit far from town center, 2014-06-22
Captain: , Cruising (3259)

The harbor folks are friendly and helpful, and the facility is in good condition. The heads are clean and nice. There is a grocery, liquor, and hardware store nearby, but most of town is about a mile walk.
Try the restaurant at the Fly Inn Fish hotel on the waterfront. It doesn't look very special from the road but it's nice inside and the food is reasonably priced but the choices and excecution are a cut above what you would expect. Visit St. Michaels Russian Orthodox church and the Raptor Center. Take advantage of the Summer Music Festival.

Eliason Harbor, 2012-11-19
Captain: , Seattle (21031)

This is a full service marina with very friendly and helpful staff. If you ask for it, it will be procured for you. NOTE: The south transient float does not have power, so either request a north float dock space or a hot berthing location. If you utilize a hot berthing location, be prepared to be moved at a moment's notice. Regardless, this is a very friendly marina, in a very friendly city. Enjoy yourself.
