Reviews for East Hampton Town Moorings
Moorings non-existant , 2014-07-01

as of June 2014-they could not be located.

Peaceful refuge , 2012-06-28
Captain: , Narragansett Bay, RI (416)

After reading the reviews below, we were not sure we wanted a mooring. The harbor is huge and reported anchoring is good. However, it was blowing 25 kts when we arrived and decided to grab a mooring. It held just fine.

The town moorings can be found adjacent to the western side of the channel, behind the red markers about half way down the harbor. All the moorings in the harbor are the same color (white), so you have to look carefully for those with a T on them.

Beautiful harbor. Very large, it could easily fit a thousand boats, so you get some good fetch coming across it with prevailing westerlies. We took the dinghy to the western shore of the harbor and the tree line really knocks down the wind/fetch. With good reported holding, it might be better to drop the hook there in high wind.

Beware of moorings, 2010-08-05
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5686)

During a severe thunderstorm in July of 2010, several boats wound up on shore still attached to their mooring ball! Boats at anchor fared much better, those with at least 5 to 1 scope did not drag.

Anchoring in this harbor is easy and the Town is now charging $75 for an overnight mooring.
