Reviews for East 55th Street Marina
Small boat Harbor, 2015-09-15
Captain: , Michigan City, IN, USA (290)

We are a 41 ft sailboat drawing 5 ft, proceeded very slowly to the fuel dock with caution - saw 6ft depts. The fuel dock and office seem very disorganized - took quite a while to figure out where to put us as the biggest slip they have is 38 ft, ended up for the night on a T-dock- and that was fine - had 30 amp service from the next slip down. OK for the night at 1.25/ft. No WiFi, and would not feel comfortable at the restaurant or bar - kind of run down.

Comeback marina in a comeback city!, 2014-07-15

Now that Metroparks have the ball the marina is turning into a first-rate facility.
All new restaurant and store, fuel dock with free pump out, friendly efficient staff, in a well protected harbor. Downtown inner harbor is a short boat ride away, and you can dock for the day right up next to the Rock Hall, Science Museum, USS Cod submarine, and Browns Stadium within walking distance to Downtown.

Getting Better., 2014-06-08

Cleveland MetroParks has taken over and are repairing the docks. reopened the retsurant, bar and have cleaned up the place. Bands are playing on the weekends again and we have high hopes for the future.

Under new management, 2013-12-08
Captain: , Cleveland, OH (10)

State of Ohio has managed the marina for many years - and has permitted it to deteriorate. Earlier this year the Cleveland Metroparks (AKA The Emerald Necklace) took over management. Metroparks has a wonderful track record for managing and developing their properties. Summer 2014 will be their first full summer in control of East 55th. Expect great things. In the meantime (ODNR neglect not withstanding) it is one of the most protected marinas on Lake Erie - with floating docks, inside double break wall with southwest facing entrance. Stay tuned!

Not a clue, 2013-08-14
Captain: , Harrison Twp, MI (350)

The dockmaster and dockhands had no clue about what they were doing. They said they would help us at the dock, and no one was there. They assigned us to dock C2, but there were no markings at the dock. It turned out the only transient wells are right up against the rocks by the shore. They had no idea what the depth of the water was there, but to me it looked mighty shallow. They said it was not safe to walk around at night. We left without getting a dock, and went up to Lakeside Yacht club which has everything (pool, restaurant and great helpfullness) for the same price.

Half the slips were empty but no room at the Inn., 2012-05-30
Captain: , Findlay, OH (196)

Apparently under new management, this facility was unable to provide a slip when half the slips were empty and the ends of the T-docks were empty as well. A call to the management number he provided rolled to an answering machine.

The attendant wasn't aware the valve needed to be open to pump out and tried to start a gasoline pump when we asked for diesel. The gas attendent was a nice kid, just new. He did stay open a little longer when we called ahead and said we were ten minutes out and needed fuel.

It will improve with experience.
