Reviews for Dunkirk Yacht Club
One of the very best clubs on the lake, 2015-09-09
Captain: , CURTICE (171)

This is really a great place and great folks. The people there are very friendly and the place is what I would hope all clubs aspire to! The club members were very hospitable. If you arrive on a Friday night there is always a party you will be invited to join.

If you get a chance as about the 1920's wooden Alden boat they restored. If you are lucky, as we were, you might get a ride to go and see it.

The facilities are clean and we had the run of the place both when members were present and after hours.

We ate at Dimitris just down from the club for breakfast and the small pitza place across the road for supper.

The town has a couple of convinience stores, gas station and fuel dock all close to the club.

Friendly Member Run Club, 2015-08-12
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (950)

Carl was there at the docks to guide us into our transient slip. First night was free. Small but clean and comfortable club house. We did not have a chance to explore the area - but it seemed there were multiple dining options. Members were very friendly. Had ample depth for our 6ft draft sailboat.

Hidden Gem, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Catawba Island, OH (523)

This is really a hidden gem on Lake Erie. The people there are so friendly and nice that it restored our faith in mankind! They were very hospitable and formative. The facilities are clean and the water pressure was the best I have ever seen in a marina. We will stay here again if ever in the area. We ate at Dimitris adjacent to the yacht club and the food was very good. If you like breakfast make sure you take the 15 minute walk to Jenna's.

Above and beyond., 2014-08-16
Captain: , Lake Erie (36)

A great club. Called on our VHF radio looking for a transient slip they said come on in.
Three people there to help dock. Super friendly .
We were invited to there commodoreparty (Italian Theme) great food with beer and wine included for $19.00 plus they had a great band as well.
Jim made sure the band played some Canadian music ( Bryan Addams LOL ) to get us up on the dance floor.
If you're looking for a great place to stay the night or more you cant go wrong with this club . Lots of places to walk to.
Video phone is a short walk on the pier.
We have a sailboat with 4'3" draft and never touched.
Cheers
Glenn and Brenda

Great place to jump to Buffalo, 2014-06-29
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

This club lived up to it's reputation from other reviewers. Simple accomodations, ultra friendly people, clean heads and showers. Spent an extra day (first night free, then $1.00 ft) bike riding through the town. Lots of things within walking distance.Had a great relaxing time. Shallow water, don't know if many sailboats can get here, but fine for our 3' draft. We'll be stopping back on the way home.

I have never been to a more welcoming Yacht Club. Not glitzy but clean with warm hearted welcoming folks, feels like home. Nice!

Great Club...Great People, 2013-08-03

They are so happy to have visitors and treat you like family. Insisted we join them at their Friday night Happy Hour. Nice little club house, clean washrooms.

Great people - Watch the shallow water, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Chicago, IL (160)

We sail a 43%u2019 sailboat with a 5%u20197%u201D draft.
Enter harbor around the east side of the inner break wall. We touched bottom a couple of times approaching the dock. This is a small friendly yacht club with clean facilities. Easy walk to restaurants and stores. We used this stop for mail pick up using general delivery at the post office. Four star rating because of the shallow depths.

Great marina, 2013-07-28
Captain: , Safety Harbor, Florida (40)

Stayed at this marina/yacht club in July, 2013. The members welcome all transit boaters including those without affiliate membership. $1.00 plf includes electric. Very friendly members who enjoy visitors. Clean restrooms and easy walk to town.

Great Place-Wonderful People, 2012-07-10
Captain: , Michigan City (349)

This yacht club is a very friendly club and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and help with any challenge or questions we had. We had made the mistake of going to another marina first but decided to walk over to the yacht club to get some local information about preparing to transit the Erie Canal. They insisted on us joining them for dinner and drinks and after a great evening offered to let us move over first thing in the morning. The depths were more than adequate at 8 to 9 feet at the slip we were in. We approached from the municipal dock and stayed about midway between the breakwall and the abandoned docks to port. The club members went above and beyond. They helped us prepare supports for our mast and get deisel fuel to our boat. (There was no diesel available on the water). We would recommend this stop for anyone. The club is built entirely over the water and the facilities are well maintained. The docks are in good condition with a large portion of them recently rebuilt. What makes the club really unique are the people. It's what cruising is all about.

Great People!, 2012-07-01
Captain: , Duluth, MN (90)

I called earlier to find depths, as I draw 7ft. No was available that could answer my questions, so we just anchored inside the break wall. Water is a bit skinney but we found a hole and dropped the hook. It's weedy, so the depth sounder will throw you off. Later, the yacht club came out and appologised for not being able to answer my questions at the time, but told me there was 8ft of water in the marina and offered us a free night. Now that's great hospitality and I would recommend this place to all who travel therse waters

Great little club, 2012-03-02
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

We stop here every opportunity we can.
Great, friendly club.
A little shallow, sometimes, getting in but other wise a place to put on your ports bucket list.

What makes this the best in the land is the people who are so friendly., 2011-06-21
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (748)

Stopped in here for an overnight while shooting for Buffalo. When I called in for transient slip availability they were very friendly and said not to worry, that they would find a spot. When I got there someone in the club had met us at the dock and waved us into the right slip and helped with the lines. After we tied up, they notified us that it just so happened that they were having the Commodore's party that night and they invited us for dinner. We kindly refused, but as we were walking off the docks to go to town we met some others and started talking about tips for our trip through the canal in a few days. They insisted that we stay and eat dinner with them and we finally did. I must say that EVERYONE that we met was very friendly and I would make it a point to visit the Dunkirk Yacht Club again.

Waterfront is nice for walking, but town is a bit down and out.
