Reviews for Duncan Clinch Marina
Nice place, 2016-09-27
Captain: , Bedford, NH (645)

We were supposed to stay for 2 nights but due to weather conditions forecasted for the lake, we only stayed one. Nice marina right near town. Didn't really use the facilities but were convenient. Fuel dock very busy and pumps must be slow. We waited at our slip for almost an hour for the fuel dock to clear and ended up leaving without getting it. We still had 1/2 tanks and that was enough to get where we were going but I prefer to start full whenever we can.

Another great Michigan Marina, 2016-07-14
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (627)

We happened to arrive during Cherry Festival. Busy, busy, busy. The concerts and carnival are next to the docks. If you like entertainment this is it! If you like quiet, pick a different time. Clean restrooms and showers. Nice lounge. Inexpensive laundry. Coffee in the mornings

Three days of Blue Angels, 2016-07-12
Captain: , Sault Ste Marie, MI (240)

We were tied up to a floating dock inside the actual breakwall. Sightseers are on the break wall and not next to the boats. The Blue Angels were the featured attraction during the Cherry Festival. Our location might have been the best place to watch them anywhere. The showers and restrooms are first rate. The boaters lounge has a flat screen tv, a small kitchen and there are three propane grills in a covered area adjacent. Great staff, great location. Too many restaurants in TC to be able to try them all but the ones we did were uniformly excellent.

4July weekend, 2016-07-06
Captain: , Stuart, Florida (85)

We spent 3 great nights in this well protected marina, great access to town's restaurants and bars. Extremely helpful and polite staff

where the action is, 2015-08-18
Captain: , Port Huron Michigan (180)

Downtown is a few minutes walk away. Beach and movie theater are next to the marina. Dock hands were helpful, son sprained his ankle we needed to leave the boat a few days. They worked with us and found a spot on the wall. Kind of place that before you leave you are starting to plan a return visit.

Great stop has it all, 2015-08-09
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Terrific Marina, lots of transient slips. Many very large shower rooms, clean rest rooms, both dryers were broken all 5 days we were there. Have two pay dryers and washers. fantastic town of Traverse City right across the street, everything in town. Enterprise will pick u up but make a reservation as they frequently sell out in summer. Many great restaurants, our favorite which u can ride your bike or dingy to is Apachee Trout Grill.Great biking in the area, the TART trail is 25 miles or so long , going from Acme to Sutton's Bay. Several other biking trails in the area. The Vasa mountain bike trail is about 5 miles away, very good Mountain Biking. Lots of mini buses available but we never figured out the process to use. Post office downtown. Marina will hold packages. Plenty of 50 or 30 amp power, great water pressure. Methodist Church has an outdoor service during the summer about 1/2 mike away just East of the holiday Inn.
As good as it gets for a stop. All the big box stores are in Traverse on the South side of town as well as West Marine, you'll need a bus or car or longer bike ride to get to them. This is definitely the place to be because so much it within walking distance to downtown.

Nice but crowded!!, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Peoria, IL (310)

This is a very nice marina, however, I don't recommend it if you are like us and don't want the crowds and noise. Like the previous reviewer said, it is definitely not for those of us doing the trailer sailor gig.

If you want to see the city, I recommend you anchor out and dinghy in for the day. If you plan on staying in the Grand Traverse Bay area, look at Sutton's Bay, North Port, or Elk Rapids marinas.

Clinch Marina, 2014-08-18
Captain: , Boca Raton, FL (355)

Very nice, exceptionally clean marina but it is subject to surge and gets very rolly in North winds. Wifi is totally inoperative; broadband reception from AT&T and Verizon is ok.

Lovely slice of Pure Michigan, 2013-09-06
Captain: , Rockford, Mi (32)

The only problem (for those of us in the trailer-sailor game) is that parking is tight, and during the weekend, the dock and surrounding parking fill up. If you manage to find a space on a busy weekend, walk. The place is well maintained and run. The bars and restaurants are plentiful and varied. Apparently there are a lot of wineries if you're into that sort of thing.

well worth the trip down the bay, 2013-07-31
Captain: , Panama City, FL (574)

many loopers and long distance cruises miss this stop. We just missed the film festival but still had a great time. Just passed the Brewery on Front Street (left from marina) are two fantastic deli/markets. Folgarellis on right and across street to Fresh Market Burritt%u2019s on left %u2013 super super stores %u2013 slim on regular stuff, but fine meats, cheeses, organic produce, special items and bread from the brick oven bakery shop in the Traverse City commons - the old mental hospital campus.

Nice Location, 2013-01-19
Captain: , Portage Indiana (503)

We stayed here in 2010 and really enjoyed this stop. The marina has nice floating wooden docks, newer restroom facilities and a friendly staff. There is a tunnel right outside the marina that goes under the main road and puts you in the downtown full of great shopping and restaurants! We highly recommend a walk to North Peak Brewing Company for a great atmosphere, food , and beer!

Great stop for us, 2012-08-17
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4176)

Centrally located. Walk to the ice cream & kayak rental then take the tunnel under the main road to Cass Street and Front Street. You are right in the center of town. Walk one more block to the Omelet Shop for breakfast. Go west one block to Union Street then southward across the small river to Maxbrauer Meat Market for groceries. Good prices on meats. Lots of restaurants in the area. Get a small pie from the Pie Factory or have lunch there. Its right next to the movie theatre on Front Street.
Marina has WiFi but it did fail during a storm when we were there.

Nice Marina, 2012-08-14
Captain: , Milwaukee Yacht Club (90)

The facilities are clean, staff friendly and its walking distance to downtown or the beaches. We enjoyed our first trip to Traverse City however I'm not sure that the run down to the bottom of Grand Traverse Bay is something we'll be compelled to do again soon. We feel there are easier to access towns close by that don't involve the 30nm trip down the bay.

excelent for a pub dock, 2011-08-10
Captain: , Detroit (720)

Great solid docks, cleaned daily when I was there. clean new bathhouse. great park surrounding, near the end of town. the whole package was well worth the trip up from Detroit (trailered).

Excellent Falcilites, 2011-07-31
Captain: , Big Torch Key, FL (1956)

Excellent facilites close to town. Very crowded, especially when there are events in town. There is space on the inside of the wall with floating docks and water, power and cable tv that is first come first served. Well worth the drive down the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay.

Modern, clean marina close to downtown shopping, 2011-02-16
Captain: , Quarterdeck Marina (117)

Visited Traverse City August 2010 with 8-10 other boats from NE Wisconsin. Had heard mixed reviews about Traverse City and the marina, but were pleasantly surprised.
The staff was friendly and accommodating during our 3 days there. Some great restaurants downtown and shopping for both touristy nicknaks gifts and nicer clothing. They had a huge outdoor movie night next door one evening.
The beach is right next door, easy to access by dinghy or by foot.
A bit busy with a main thoroughfare going by, but we didn't notice any road noise.
The marina was full most of the time so reservations are a must unless you get there early.

Top Notch Municipal Marina, 2009-10-05
Captain: , Pentwater, MI (415)

Great facility with just a few transient slips. If you get in you are walking distance of downtown Traverse City which is special. A TON of great places to dine. North Peak brewpub is the best in town. Quite aways from a basic grocery store is the only downside.

If you smell something funny downtown, film maker Michael Moore might be around the corner. He lives on Elk Lake I am told. Locals wish he would move.

Great marina and close to downtown., 2009-07-25
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1109)

Very clean marina with nice facilities. Short walking distance to downtown. Rent a car (designate a driver) and take a tour of the wineries in town. Lots of fun. This is a great place to stay a few days.

Traverse City, 2009-07-01
Captain: , Howard Prairie (500)

Ok, you will love this place, right in Traverse City, two big beaches adjacent to the marina, close to downtown. Don't forget to smooch the moose.

Great Stop, 2007-12-14
