Reviews for Dudley's Marina
great price, nice people, 2016-09-14
Captain: , HOLLY RIDGE NC (120)

Water depth at low is 5 feet. Bathhouse could use a remodel. Price is very good. Staff are very helpfull. Walk to resturants. Allowed us to arrive late and square up in the morning. Thank you.

New planking on face dock and walkway on grass. Always enjoy staying because of the price!?. Also good stop for fuel and bait. Nothing fancy for sure but again love the .75 per foot. Nice long face dock

What do you want for $.75/foot?, 2016-07-19
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1122)

Update 7/19/2006. New dock, new power pedestals. Still $.075 / foot. They are fixed and you will need to put out some fenders on the pilings as the local runabouts won't slow down, but for this price it beats the heck out of the other options. Excellent store with anything you might need from tackle to hose to varnish and 5200, hardware etc. Raising my rating to 5 stars because of the new docks.

We spent more on cool T-shirts in their general store than we did for dockage. If you need anything try this store.
Yes, the current can be bad and no floating docks. Yes, we had problems finding a power pylon that functioned correctly. Mr. Dudley offered us a ride if we needed one and so I call it good. Good resturaunts on the Causeway within walking distance so no need to go all the way into Swansboro, unless you want to mix in with the tourists.

Great value for the money, 2016-06-14
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (600)

We were moored on the new face dock with new lumber. Dock hands, Cameron, Michael and Cole were helpful and very proficient in docking and assisting our departure. Docks are not floating but tide only 2 1/2 ft so use your fender boards. Price is 75 cents a ft, electric included. Bathrooms clean but older. Went to Yacht club for lunch. It is a local bar and rest. Good food and beer deals. Yacht club restaurant is within walking distance. With in biking distance is auto parts stores and grocery store. Definitely coming here again.

Great staff, low cost overnight and fuel, every thing else need major help, 2016-06-11
Captain: , Dover, DE (40)

Marina need to be redone, facility is old and worn....shalow wather and strong current. Poor protection from high volume boat traffic on the ICW. Great staff and low cost fuel.

Warn but worthly, 2016-06-07
Captain: , Little Creek VA (424)

Stopped here twice now, and found it well worthy. Heads/showers and most docks (new boards on north t-head though) are rough, but staff is great and very helpful. Without the three strong young men working the day we came in this trip, a mean current and 20+kt South wind would have made for a very bad landing. They made it all possible by quickly grabbing our lines and pulling for all they were worth. The ships store is very well stocked!

I would stop here again, 2016-05-21
Captain: , kansas city (40)

My only was the tides suck. Other than that it's a great place with helpful people

Staff is friendly and everything is reasonable., 2016-05-10
Captain: , Buffalo (832)

Stayed here because for an inexpensive slip fee, it is a lot safer than anchoring in this tidal swing area. They helped us dock and tie up and gave us a courtesy car to get some provisions. There was a mechanic available that I hired to check something out, and even that charge was inexpensive. The only reason I didn't give them a five star is because of the fixed docks.

Excellent prices and staff, 2016-03-20
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (70)

$.75 a foot dockage, and $1.59(over 200 gal) diesel. Well staffed, ships store is incredible. If you want to walk to places, it is not the best location, but the price more than makes up for it.

My kind of place, 2016-01-10
Captain: , Wilmington NC (400)

12/25/15 They were closed Christmas day. Pulled in late and settled up in the morning when the store opened back up. Not concerned at all to find us tied up when they arrived. Very nice folks.
6/1-2/2015 Had 6' at low tide on face dock. Get some wakes from the ICW but far enough away that it's more annoying than anything. Courtesy van available till 8pm when they close the store. Best stocked ship store I've seen in 1000 miles. Found things I wanted that even West Marine didn't have. BP store on site that marina office. Just great people. Some would say rustic, and I can see that....I would say warm and homey.

Feels right at home and Enterprise Car Rental special rate, 2015-12-08
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

Nice people and stop. Enterprise Car Rental has a weekend special of $32 for 3 days. Gives you a chance to travel around by land to revisit the outer banks you just traveled on the ICW. Like everywhere else come and leave on high or low tide to aviod currents.

Great Staff, 2015-10-27
Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1523)

If it were'nt for the staff I would give this a one star rating. The young men who helped us in were excellent and constantly apologised for the facilities. The docks were old but functional, but the power pedestals were extremely worn out. Out of the three on the dock, only one was functional, and they were all so loose they wouldn't hold a power cord. They do a big dry storage business here and ity seems the transient business is just an afterthought, thus the low price of 0.75 per foot. The owners are old and do not seem interested in making things better. The other problem is constant wakes. We were ther on a Sat. so there were a lot of small boats speeding by. Should be better during the week. On the plus side, as I said before, the staff was very helpful and even apologetic for the facility, and ther is a loaner car available which is a great plus.

Easy in & out; great prices!!!, 2015-10-13
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1796)

Stayed night of 10-2-14, diesel was 3.32, dock rent was .75 per foot. Needed two 50 plugs for a 100 smart y and electrice did not work for smart Y, staff attempted many things to make it right, great staff, Jerry, Cameron and another. Loaner car to go to dinner.

10-13-15 Stopped for diesel $2.04 per gal. absolutely no discount over 200 and absolutely no discount for check. Great price and easy in & out but absolutely no discount per all the reviews and notes.

Be Careful, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Rexford, New York (30)

Good value, great prices. A sand bar at the fuel dock will spoil your stay, Have them guide you in at low tide

Going down hill, 2015-07-10
Captain: , sv Averi (653)

OK, with a length of 41 feet we typically pay, when we choose to dock, $60 to $90 a night. What that may include also varies. At Dudley%u2019s the cost is $30.75. The bathrooms and showers are not great, they lack heat or AC. The docks are poor and you need to tie to piles not cleats. Some of the older piles have large quantities of tar on them (I spent a hour or so cleaning my hull, a fender and rub rail. My lines are a mess) The folks are less friendly, shmile less and the management really didn't care. They do have a curtesy vehicle and very reasonable fuel. Do be aware, they have a high volume nozzle on the fuel dock; you may need a large funnel to use it. The current gets very strong and there was some wake off the ICW the worst is if there is a strong southerly, you will be pinned to the dock. If you do go here insist on staying on the inside. With all the tar, dings to our Awl Grip and ruined dock lines, the savings just wasn't worth it. Really it was the disintrest on the part of the owners that will send us to Casper's next Fall.

Great Value for the money but old and in need of upkeep., 2015-06-24
Captain: , Barrington, NH (283)

At $.75 a foot you can't go wrong here...unless of course you run aground on your way in! We approached with 5.5' draw at low tide and bumped then ran aground a few feet from the inside of the face dock. We managed with the help of the two nice dock hands to punch it and pull ourselves in for a restful nights sleep despite the thunderstorms that blew through. They had a free courtesy car we used to find groceries and chinese food but it was a very hot ride without ac and temps in the 90s. The wooden docks are ricket in places and the bathroom and shower could use some TLC but at $.75 a foot it definitely met our needs and the young people working the docks and in the store were super friendly and nice which is why I've given Dudley's 4 stars.

Deceptive practices, 2015-05-24
Captain: , Baltimore (60)

On the 19th of May I tied up at this marina to get fuel. The price on A/C was $2.53. No listing of tax incl. or not. The dock hands helping with the fueling did not know anything about prices. I paid 2.699 pr gl for a total of 945.07, which comes to 2.53 plus 7 % tax. I questioned the cashier who just laughed at me. I did not get the 0.05 discount for over 200 gallons. A phone call went like this: We got fuel that day and had to raise the price that day. A/C does not reflect that at all, as the price was the same the day before and the day after. Will not go back!

Value Priced , 2015-03-03
Captain: , Grand Island, NE (240)

Dudley's is same / similar condition as when we stopped in '12.
Docks and Restrooms 'OK' - 'rustic' comes to mind. Told to side tie to T on B-dock - given assurances there was 7' at low tide. Slid to a halt (I draw 5') about 4 feet away from pilings. Had interesting discussion with office about when I could come up and register - fortunate we were on rising tide and 30 min was able to pull back to additional depth. WiFi not working at docks March, '15.

Value Prices - courtesy vehicle appreciated - friendly staff. Nice small community.

Rustic But OK, 2015-02-20
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (745)

I was going to give Dudley's a four star review for the piers and bathrooms. The piers need a little work but, are safe enough. The bathrooms are a bit like an old camp ground, but they are there and they do work. At $.75 a foot Dudley's is a bargain on the water. Their diesel price was the best for miles around. We were here for three days waiting for a weather window. It may be a bit rustic but, that's OK. We will be back.

Great People, Very Helpful, 2014-12-26
Captain: , Swansboro, NC (10)

Everyone from the dock boys to the girls at the register are very very nice and accommodating! This people will go out of their way to help you with whatever you need!

Comfortable and Affordable, 2014-12-07
Captain: , Onancock, VA (172)

Recommended by a friend, it was an alternative to my usual anchoring at this price. Marina is comfortable, shower and toilet (separate) facilities are basic and clean, 30 and 50 amp power included in the price, and at least two loaner vehicles are available. Be careful of the shoal just off the fuel dock.

I arrived on a Friday, saw friends, forecast was a gale watch (nor'easter) Sunday and Monday so I laid over. I'm well sheltered and have power to keep the cabin warm and bright. For someone who would rather put their money into good food than into a marina this place is five stars.

watch the current and your depth, 2014-11-18
Captain: , Chapin, South Carolina (410)

Call the dock master whenat R46A to get directions to come in. At this point you can see the docks BUT there is a large shoal to one side and without proper directions you may run aground. Can't say enough about the incredible staff. We came in during high winds and we had three staff helping to dock the boat! You need fender boards or fenders with holes at each end as the current may be strong here. Great Marina store. They have nearly everything you could want at awesome prices and they have a courtesy car. Also go into the store to meet there mascot a large macaws! Can't beat the customer service and can't beat the price!

Watch the current, 2014-11-17
Captain: , Kingston, NY (190)

There is a shoal just west of thier docks. We had to pull a sailboat off of it when they came in and got caught by the current. The current is swift as we had 1.5kts coming into dock. The depth at low tide on their face dock is only 6'. We were in the mud at low tide and bounced bottom with the passing wakes. Great rates and fully stocked marine store make this a great stop. Additionally, if you need something from town they have a car to use.

Basic Marina and great Marine store, 2014-11-16
Captain: , Clayton, NY (645)

A good current going into marina. Wonderful staff, basic amenties and a very complete marine store. They do have a courtesy car to go to the grocery. Great price.

Great economical stop, 2014-11-12
Captain: , Little River, SC (1967)

Docks are old and tired but serviceable. Dockhands were efficient and helpful. They have a great Marine store, well stocked, reasonable prices. Restroom facilities are tired but clean. Recommend this as opposed to the Swansboro Town Docks @$1.50/ft with no services.

Nice, cheap stop, 2014-11-09
Captain: , Erie, PA (577)

You can't beat the price, the friendly staff and the loaner car. Diesel was $2.90/gallon on 11/9/2014. Pay attention to directions from the staff on how to approach the docks as there is a significant shoal just to the north-west of the marina.

glad we stopped, 2014-11-08
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

traveling with twin 4 YO, the days are shorter than for most and we stopped here as it was time to get them ashore. The staff here could not have been sweeter. A secure stop but fixed dock made use deploy fender board as soon as we were tied. the current can run swift so ask before you stop which way the current is running at the dock. This is a really nice place and one we will use again going north in the spring, especially if the ICW is closed for live fire exercises.

Fair Price for Product, 2014-11-05
Captain: , Stuart FL (478)

It's nothing fancy. A boatel with working yard. There are pilings, deck boards, water lines and electrical hook-ups on their last legs or already gone. That makes the 75-cent rate fair: you get what you pay for. The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. They make the price a real bargain.

Price trumps comfort., 2014-08-24
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (532)

Arrived 7/11/2014 before getting to Beaufort to fill up with sub $4/gal gas and $0.75/ft slip for the night. As one of the previous raters mentioned, very lumpy, even on this Friday. We are seeing a pattern developing. It seems to me the further north we travel the less attention by waterway enforcement personnel, other than wildlife game wardens speeding along with everyone else through the no wake zones. Marina/gas station/fishing tackle/marine parts and supply facility was one of the most well stocked businesses we have encountered since beginning this journey. Three parts I had to special order in Wilmington, they had on the shelves and at a better price.

Basic - but great for the price and a good store, 2014-08-16
Captain: , Cape Coral (221)

We stayed one night, got a courtesy car to drive to the shops and restaurants in the city. Everything worked, the water, the electricity, the service at the landing - and at $ 0.75/f they are the best. If you don't look for gimmicks, you will feel well here.

Friendly and helpful place, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

Stopped again 7/12-13/14. Note to self:never stop here on a weekend. The area of the marina is in the middle of a no wake zone but virtually NONE of the weekend warriors pay any attention. It is also obviously not enforced. The people at the marina could not be more helpful or friendly.

8/27-28/13 We stopped here again as we are working our way south. We walked to the town of Swansboro. It has a nice little shopping area with several nice stores and choices of restaurants with good food. It is a good stay for one or 2 nights. The face docks seem to always have a wind that pins you to the dock but the marina sends out a couple of guys to push you off, this is apparently a very normal occurance.
We stopped here on 6/6/13 and planed to stay for 3 days. We were ducking tropical storm Anrdrea. The place is not real pretty but is definitely solid! You can see that Maintenance is done when needed. The store is a real gem, it's like a mini West Marine. The price at $0.75 per foot is certainly fair. Especially when you consider they let us use the loaner car to go to the grocery store. Will stop here again so we can explore the town.

5 Stars For Fuel Prices & Friendliness, 2014-05-20
Captain: , Kent Island, MD (392)

The fuel prices were better than Moorehead Gulf Dock and as good as Top Rack. Some friends tried to buy diesel the day before us and were told not to because the Marina was down to only 400 gallons and waiting on a new delivery. How's that for honesty? We also got a slip for the night for $0.75 per foot. What does that do to the $1 per foot club. There are some shallows to avoid, but you are given very specific instructions and a sailboat pulled in behind us.

Nice basic marina - economical, 2013-11-22
Captain: , Ottawa (1173)

Can't beat the price. Basic no frills marina, but has solid well built docks, power, water, bathrooms, showers and even a courtesy car. Would definitely recommend this marina.

Great Ship Store, 2013-10-25
Captain: , Swansboro (664)

Dudleys Ship Store is well stocked and prices are very reasonable.

Chances are....Dudleys has what you need.

If by chance they don't.....they will get it overnight.

Basic, but great for the price., 2013-10-02
Captain: , Houston, Texas (970)

Water, power, showers, heads, and loaner car for the price is great. Fuel was the cheapest we have found. You get waked til dark and the fixed docks require fendering off the pilings. The showers are a bit worn and could be cleaner, but again the price was right.

I will be back..., 2013-05-24
Captain: , Topsail Beach NC (40)

Beginning with the assistance by three able young men tying JaVa to the slip at the end of the E dock, to the staff in the store, service was absolutely unbeatable and competence was abundant! It appears that the 61 year old Macaw roaming the store may have some level of ownership.....

Gas was reasonable, the facility, while a bit old, was clean and absolutely functional. Clean head, clean shower and clean grounds in general made a positive impression. Yes, this is a transient-friendly business that worked hard to anticipate and meet our needs.

When asked about good restaurants, several were suggested and we were taken by an employee to Riverview Restaurant for a delightful evening meal. And then the owner of the restaurant took us back to Dudley's when we were finished dining.

Service, friendliness, competence--that sums it up.

A Reasonably Priced Gem, 2013-05-23
Captain: , Bristol, RI (240)

Not much to look at, but don't judge a book by its cover.
There is nothing fancy here, however, the staff is extremely helpful. The price is right! The shower and heads are clean. The courtesy car is available to take to you the postoffice, market, shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and historical sites. This is our second visit here.
We will be back!

Still a Great Place, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Cleveland (2008)

Update 5/6/13

We're back to Dudley's because we liked it here previously. Our experience today with the deck hands was very different than recent reviews. The two young men that assisted us in were very knowledgeable about how to tie our boat given the fixed docks and the current/tide swings. We would have used the same method they used!

Nicky's restaurant has moved from the center of the bridge to the edge of town - still a nice walk.

We'll be back!

Previous review:
We were pleasantly suprised when we arrived at Dudley's. It is a basic marina with no frills - the kind of place we happen to like. Showers were great with the heat lamps and we used the courtesy car to go to Nicky's restaurant (at the advice of the marina personel. It was excellent and prices were very reasonable), Auozone and Food Lion - all within 5 or 6 miles.

Be aware that not all of the docks have power since Irene so be sure to specify before entering the marina that you require power (or not). It is definitely shallow away from the docks.

Good provisioning stop, 2013-04-05
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

Read Jim Healy's review especially regarding entry.
Loaner car allows access to laundry, grocery store and family dollar in same location.
Fuel price best iin the area and inexpensive docking.
Old town is worth the visit.

Not glamorous, but Swansboro is cool, 2012-12-15
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Here for a night in early December. Marina is a bit faded, but cheap and no complaints overall. Not a lot of amenities, but they have a courtesy car to get you into town (would be a long walk or a decent bike ride).

Solid marina store.

Poor Choice, 2012-06-17
Captain: , Lakewood Ranch, FL (82)

Stayed at Dudley's for the first and probably last time. Tied up at the face dock in strong current. Two people helped but weren't experienced at tying up lines. They have no power to the face dock. Took our 50 foot 50A power cord. Then after plugging it in told us they didn't have any power and were in need of it being repaired. Courtesy car is availabe and face dock is only $0.75/foot. Will try Caspers Marina instead of just pass thru Swansboro.

Great fuel prices, 2012-06-06
Captain: , Stone Mountain, GA (179)

I've stopped twice for fuel here and Jim Healy's review is spot on as to getting to the fuel dock. but they will be on the dock to catch your lines and guide you in (I'm singled handed and tell them so when I call ahead...and use ch 16...I've never gotten an answer on 68). I paid $3.23 (tax included) on 6/2/12).

Nice, helpful people and a courtesy car (they first time I stopped I stayed on the fuel dock overnight for $.75/ft...a little rolly but I stopped late and left early).

Dudley's Marina, 2012-05-04
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (1496)

Dudley's is a mixed blessing. Pros: inexpensive, offers a courtesy car, very well stocked ship's store, fuel prices consistently better than the area average, and nice people willing to be of help. Cons: large shoal between marina and ICW which is not passable by cruising boats; access to the marina is via dredged channel and area near the docks. The dredged area is less than generous, and access requires navigation close to the docks. Arrival instructions are often provided by teenagers working the gas station counter. They are not boaters and generally not familiar with the actual conditions of the marina. Docks are aging fixed docks, not in the best repair. There are strong ebb and flood currents, and the docks are exposed to SE and S winds. Recommendation: This marina is best fit to boats with 4' draft or less operated by experienced captains. Ask to be placed on a face dock if possible. Approach the marina on a northwesterly course, leaving the ICW from the North (actially East in that area) of R"46A," leaving R"46A" to your port side. ONLY LEAVE RED "46A" TO PORT IF INTENDING TO ENTER THE MARINA!!! Anything else will not end well!

great price, no frill, great peoples, recommend it, 2011-12-17
Captain: , Quebec, Canada (268)

We stop here for the second year in a row. Great marine store well stock. peoples are very friendly and they make you feel like home.
Say hi to the parrot (bird) in the store, he is 60 years old.
It look like large birds spend long time on the dock and you know what bird do. Other than that, everything is just fine. I will stop again

Shallow for Sailboats, 2011-12-02

Grounded at 5.5' at the face dock on B during low tide.

southern hospitality, very helpful, 2011-11-22
Captain: , bristol, ri (31)

the other comments are true regarding the facilities. It isn't a very scenic place but the people were very helpful. We had engine troubles and they couldn't have been nicer about getting us back in action.
Courtesy car gets you to a huge supermarket 3 miles away.

Good and Bad- especially approach depth, 2011-11-16
Captain: , Chelsea, NY12512 (481)

Good marine store and sevice department.
Good courtesy van you can drive for an hour.
Bathrooms a little funky
Lighting to end of dock poor
7 foot depth to dock sould be changed to 5.5(my 6 foot draft boat grounded on approach to fuel dock).

Friendly marina and boatyard, 2011-11-04
Captain: , Havre de Grace (119)

We stayed overnight on 14/15 April 2011. Staff very friendly. Open til 8:00 and we had use of courtesy car. We were there on a weekday so face dock was fine. Close to intra coastal. Good fuel prices. Stayed again 2/3 Nov. 2011. Great help docking and leaving. $0.75/ft, no charge for electric. Docks are fixed and kept in decent repair. Toilet and shower spartan, but heat lamps in shower. Well supplied marine store with good prices.

Not full service but very affordable., 2011-11-01
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

I found this marina to be quite mininal, but the price is awesome! It's a great place for a 1 or 2 night stopover. Get their phone number before you approach in case you need to call them. Very helpful when manning the radio.

An off day, 2011-10-21
Captain: , Stuart FL (805)

We have stayed here many times and staff helpful. Dock old but OK and inexpensive. Today however was not one of their better days. Several boats were coming to dock due to approaching storm. Staff was out to help but no one was manning the radio!! If you have the misfortune to have to go to an inside dock the water is very low just past the piers. A number of people were on the docks helping to tie up boats; however no one was telliing a sail boat how to approach and he ran aground and needed Tow Boat US to get off. Dock hands need a radio especially on windy days!

I think a bouy is certainly in order at the docks to help boaters navigate the tricky entrance.

Will continue to stop as everyone has an off day sometime. Today was Dudley's off day.l

ONE BIG KUDU TO TOWBOATUS who was close buy and told the sailboat to hold on he would get him to the dock at no charge.

Dudley's post hurricane Irene, 2011-10-13
Captain: , Bristol, RI (366)

Dudley's took a big hit when Irene passed through. We stayed one night at $0.75 per foot, no electricity on the dock, and the dock itself pretty in rough shape.

We walked about a mile to the Riverside Steak & Seafood Restaurant and had an excellant meal. The lobster ravioli with shrimp and scallops was terrific. The owner, John Kilgore, gave us a ride back to the marina.

Outstanding service, great price, 2011-09-25
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Two dockhands helped us tie up in the pouring rain, and the courtesy car was a nice touch too. But the best feature was the price. At 75 cents a foot, this place is a bargain.

Very professional staff, 2011-09-02

We stopped for fuel at low tide. Dock staff gave very helpful directions for the shallow approach to Fuel Dock E. The diesel price was excellent and the store is quite complete. Everyone's very helpful and friendly.

Price makes up for everything, 2011-07-31

Tricky to get in and out, but owner came out to help direct us. Tide can be an issue. Docks are old, but serviceable. Courtesy car is easily available to grocery store, laundromat in town. Bathrooms and showers are ok. Price at $.75/ft. makes up for everything. Great Italian restaurant, Trattoria, just over the bridge with great pizza and pasta dishes.

Engine trouble in Swansboro, Dudleys Marina, 2011-07-10
Captain: , sabula iowa (21)

Limped into Dudleys marina Friday 24June11, had 2 broken valves. Earl Brinkley and Chris Craft removed head and had it back on5july11. Dudleys employees were very helpful in getting parts and letting us use the courtesy everyday. Earl and Chris are the best diesel mechcanics and are as honest as the days are long.

Bella Vita Overnight Stay, 2011-06-25
Captain: , Charleston (241)

We had a pleasant surprise with regards to their $.75 per ft. docking fee that included 50 amp service. Their diesel was low price as well but unfortunatley we had just taken on 175 gallons at a higher price. Dudley's cost was $3.60 per gallon when others were charging $4.10-4.20. This is also a good place to get your fishing supplies. Dock hands were very helpful

Deck hands are courteous enough and the staff inside were willing to help w/any problems that we came up with. You can%u2019t beat the prices. You have three grades of gas to choose from.

For the prices that they charge I didn%u2019t expect a hospital rest room so I wasn%u2019t surprised that they were not the best, but they worked and were sorta clean. My wife said that the ladies room and shower were ok and she%u2019s a nurse%u2026!!!

Cheap. Adequate., 2011-05-31
Captain: , Pentwater, MI (415)

We stayed here after Casper's screwed up our reservations. Nice bait & tackle shop and a reasonable supply of marine items that you usually do not find at marinas.

Courtesy car for groceries. Friendly and helpful staff. Strong young men to help you dock/tie up.

Restrooms? Another story. Stay on your boat.

Good Ole Marina, 2011-05-19
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (1090)

After checking the anchorage area, we decided that a marina would be a better choice for us. Dudleys is right off the ICW and the place was great. Dock hands were very courteous and knew what they were doing. Be sure to follow their directions for coming into the slips - can get a bit shallow in places.

As others have mentioned, courtesy car, rides to town, and friendly staff are the positives and they outweigh the not-so-positives. The restrooms for marina were fine - much better than those for the gas station. The docks were adequate, the power pedestals a bit scary, and the prices reflect that. The floating dock mentioned before is meant for the boatel boats and not transist - work fine for that.

If you are into fishing, you can't find a better spot. The marine store has it all, plus lots of advice (and we weren't planning to fish). The small grocery has everything you need - beanie weenies, candy bars, peanuts, vienna sausages, ice cream sandwiches, etc.. Everything you need for a good day on the water.

Great WiFi connection from the marina and 5 bars on verizon.

Because of the convenience, price, and great folks, we will be making this a repeat stop on our ICW stops.

Probably will never be back here., 2011-05-15

5-15-11. Maybe since we just came south from Oriental Marina, the difference is striking. Put us on the outside dock-- the dock hand said that is what they told him to do. I would not trust the inside floating docks at all-- and no one on them. This is supposed to be a no wake zone -- HA!! More like ocean surf and Dudley's does nothiong about it at all on the radio. One would think that if they used the radio some, that the locals would slow down. Some leave the dry stack right here and pull huge wakes. Of course we got here about 11:30 on a Sunday and maybe it is better on a weekday. But I really doubt it since a lot of the trawlers, etc do not mind the wakes either. We have 7 fenders and 2 fender boards and I hope that is enuf. If we had not already checked in and lashed ourselves down tight, we would try and find another place!! 2 hours of this is already more than enuf!! I just hope it calms down later this afternoon. Will keep you posted!

You can not beat the price. Staff is courteous and knowledgeable. They were training anew dockhand when we arrived and had three hands and the owner on the dock taking lines. Heads and showers were dated but clean. The courtesy car is available til closing (agout 8:00 pm) and they will drive you to a restaurant which will brting you back.

In the spirit of the old family marinas, 2011-03-19

The folks at Dudley's couldn't be nicer, their ships store and diesel are low priced, and they have a courtesy car. And you can't beat their dockage rate. But we went aground when they tried to lure us through the new dredged area to the inner docks, so spent the night on the one outer dock.

Who's on first?, 2011-03-04
Captain: , Pinnacle, NC, USA (1340)

As of 2011-03-02 Dudley's was being dredged in preparation for the season. The few floating docks they do have were empty and may not be trustworthy as we were put outside on a fixed dock facing the AICW. We then got moved to make room for a 2nd ttransient. Reception's choice on where to put us was countermanded by the dock hand making our fenders & orientation wrong. Dock hand got it right. Tides here only range two feet.
There's no ethanol in their gas -- yet.
I'd love to give Dudley's a better review because they are friendly people but the place is just too run down and our position on the outside dock was too exposed.

Small town with good services, 2011-02-03
Captain: , Oriental, NC (146)

What a good marina used to be. Charming old wooden docks, convenient to ICW and town. Great rates and friendly people. Because it is adjacent to the ICW, a very quick stop for fuel, ice etc. before running the Camp Lejeune gauntlet.

old time friendly, 2010-12-09
Captain: , Wilmington Deleware (330)

No floating docks, actually the docks are a bit on the old side, but a great stop. This marina has a small town feel with a friendly, kind staff. The staff will drive you anywhere at almost anytime. We always stop here, kind of like coming home.

a great choice for budget minded cruisers, 2010-12-05
Captain: , Hertford,NC (180)

the best deal on the waterway so far! although the help is young and not yachties, they are helpful. Fast answer on the VHF and energetic instructions. Not too knowledgeable on the nautical side of things, but they don't get in your way and were willing to help when asked. Used a courtesy vehicle to town (it was 30 degrees!) .75 a free 30 amp service. Can't beat it.

Staff Makes the Marina, 2010-11-05
Captain: , Apollo Beach (161)

Marina would have made 5 star except lack of pump out, depth of entry, and slightly ratty condition of docks. Diesel price is excellent and fuel is clean. Staff is friendly, accomodating, and makes the marina a 4 star.

Good place to rest up for the night. Wakes

Great Ship Store, 2010-06-24
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (273)

This marina has one of the best stocked ship stores around. They have a courtesy car to go to dinner or shops. The price is wonderful .75/ft and that includes electirc. The only problem is the water depth. At the T-head we only had 5' of water and our boat was sitting on the bottom and trashing our A/C filters. The people are very nice and if you're a shallow draft boat this is the place to be.

Captain: , Newville (488)

We seem to have picked the coldest winter in years to do an AICW trip South. We stopped at Dudleys for heat, fuel, etc. Unfortunately, the cold had broken their water pipes, & they were doing some improvements to the fuel systems. Tied up to "B" dock with lots of able help. Great prices at the dock & in the store. You've got to meet Clyde & Elvis. Used the courtesy van. We'll be sure to stop on the way North

The Price is Right, 2009-06-08
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

This place has old docks, but I'm old, so what? The staff is friendly and helpful. Seventy-five cents a foot is unheard of. They have a courtesy car, they will drive you to any local restaurant, a really nice fishing/marine equipment store and you're close to a really nice town. Good price on fuel also.

Captain: , Absarokee Mt (1228)

After running aground just past Dudlys in a wet and miserable blowing storm, the towboat capt said that Dudleys was still answering the phone. We called, winds gusitng to 25, opposing tides, bad day, they said come on in. They had plenty of people to help with the lines, got us secured, all with clove hitches and using spring lines the right way. All for $36 for a 48 foot boat, WHAT A DEAL!. We stayed two nights, used the courtesy van. The docks are old and worn, the facility is more a working boatyard than a marina, the docks expose you to the wakes on the ICW, but what a great port in a storm.

Dudley's has room for 5-6 transient boats. Docks not in great shape, but the price is right...$.75/ft! They do have a courtesy car and a nicely stocked marine store
