Reviews for Duck Creek Small Boat Harbour
Good place to haul out, 2016-06-29
Captain: , New Bern, NC. (801)

With our 44ft sail with a 5ft plus draft it was a little skinney coming in but doable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can do your own work or talk to Terry, she can work on your boat or find the right people for the job. They have water and electric hook up. They seem to have things in order here.

Tough entry, but helpful staff, 2013-01-04

I've had my 35 Ft powerboat lifted out twice at Duck Creek. They do a fine job pulling and blocking a boat, but it is tough to get in and out of the marina and the various charges add up quickly. Know the charges up front.

Excellent Laid Back Yard / Marina, 2012-05-03
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Purchased boat after survey and haul out and kept it there to do some work. Very laid back atmosphere, nice people, reasonably priced. Many knowledgeable people around to shoot the breeze with or ask questions.

After launch, was able to scull boat 50 ft to a nearby slip for a couple days and do some engine work. 27 ft boat at $7 per day.

Will be coming back for more work here in the future.

Okay yard, convenient to downtown, 2011-11-20

Like a few of the other reviews, we hauled out here for our pre-purchase survey. The employees had a hard and fast lunch hour and we had to wait to get back in the water. No big deal but just watch the time especially if your trying to do a sea trial. Prices were a lot higher for the haul than other yards but it was more convenient than going to Oriental for the lower price. Just FYI.

Nice people, 2011-06-21

We did our buyers survey there in '09 and the guys there were very nice. We priced it for other work since then and found that some of their prices for things like travel lift and power washing are a bit high. The big thing is to not get caught in there. The channel is shallow and if you get in there and a south wind starts up, you will be stuck.

DIY but great contractors, 2011-05-18

Jim Brown just did a complete chain plate replacement on my CSY 44. Honest & knowledgable.

Terry Shea is unbeatable for sanding and bottom painting. Very fair pricing. Quality work.

Beware of depths getting in or out. Wind is major factor in water levels. My 4'11" draft made getting out darn near impossible after a time of unfavorable winds.

Yep, yard with private marina, 2011-03-02
Captain: , Oriental, NC (265)

DIY with extra charge for hiring someone to work for you. Price looked cheap till they added that on...Expect to pay before they put you back in the water. Surprised me with a "No cash, no splash" they hadn't warned me about, but were flexible since I was 150 miles away at the time. Nice people.

Really A Yard, 2007-01-19
Captain: , New Bern, NC (102)

This is a yard with marina and it's usually full (true for all of New Bern.) Most people go there to haul and do their own work, although there are excellent and economical contractors available. Reasonable rates.
