Reviews for Drum Point Marine
Top Notch Mechanical Service, 2017-09-15
Captain: , Annapolis (3379)

We first used Drum Point when were hit by lightning near Annapolis. It took out our Cummins computers. Cummins Atlantic insited that this was the only dealer in the mid Bay area who could do the work. Exceptionally well trained and skilled. They took excellent care of our boat while they were working on the engine for nearly 2 weeks. We now count on them for our annual service, even though we are based in FL. They are busy, so we have to schedule the work a month ahead as we are cruising north in the spring or south in the fall.

In preparation for a cruise to Nova Scotia, we needed some engine work, especially a 2k hour service of our aftercooler and heat exchangers. Doing our own due diligence, we received two personal (Drum Point Marine) customer assessments from fellow boaters at our own marina. We also read the reviews on Active Captain. So, we decided to cruise to Solomons MD to have Gary Gastineau, and head mechanic Katie, of Drum Point Marine do a 2k hour service of our aftercooler and heat exchangers. These guys are pros. Their work was done timely, efficiently and cleanly. Best thing yet, they do things like check each others work, and then sea trial for potential errors. The price was as estimated, we could not be happier, and we will be back!

Saved the day for us!, 2015-05-09

We had a starter cranking problem with one of our engines and I was all out of ideas for the ultimate solution. Owner, Gary, came over with less than one day's notice and concluded it was almost certainly the starter itself. He ordered one for overnight shipment and came over to the boat as soon as it arrived. He installed the new starter (a very difficult job due to the tight access) and the problem was solved. Can't say enough good things about his competence, attitude, professionalism, and willigness to help us out in pinch when no one else in the area could get to us for weeks.

Unrealistic Work Estimate, 2014-10-15
Captain: , Portland, Oregon (576)

I wanted to have my engine (Lehman-Ford, 6 cyl diesel) heat exchanger removed and replaced. I had the part and asked for an estimate. The verbal estimate was for 4 hours work which amounted to $400. I thought that was a little much so I did the work myself. It took me 1 hour and 15 minutes (including testing for leaks) and took only a screw driver and an allen wrench. The work amounts to four hoses and two brackets that have to be removed and reinstalled.

I found Drum Point onlly because they were listed as an authorized Tecma service center and I needed some work done. Christian, one of the mechanics, came to our boat. He did really great work. He was neat (always wore booties on the boat) polite, knowledgeable, prompt and did an efficient and proper job the first time. I appreciated his attitude and competence so much I had him do some needed maintenance on our generator and John Deere engine while we waited for parts for the head repair. Drum Point is primarily a mobile maintenance and repair service. Their "yard" isn't much to look at but their service is great. I highly recommend them.

Top notch mobile service, 2011-05-30
Captain: , Solomons MD (20)

Small mobile yacht service at Solomons. Honest, punctual and knowledgeable. Engine, electrical, and electronics. I have used them for 8 years. Only thing that prevents 5 stars is price.
