Reviews for Downtown New Iberia

You tie up against a bulkhead which is 8 ft. above water and topped with a 3ft6in. fence, so a flybridge or stepladder is very handy. They do have elec hookups with household connections and some new 50A marine. Fender boards are handy as the indents in the piling wall swallow most fenders.
People are INCREDIBLY friendly. Restaurants everywhere, "Pelicans on the Bayou" was noisy and good - only game in town and just north of the bulkhead
on Sunday.
"Shadows on the Teche" is an excellent stately home tour.
10 opening bridges, 9 of which have a personal travelling bridge tender,( call 1 800 256 1817 to arrange) and the other parish bridge has a separate tender (337 828 1960 for pager).
Bayou Teche was beautiful!

Great spot to send a few days, 2009-06-02

New Iberia is planning on making this a full marina with floating docks and pump out, for now you can tie up to the bulkhead fence and enjoy downtown. Suggest Clementine's Restaurant 1 block away for drinks and great food. Locals more than happy to bring to supermarket and local services.

Turn off GIWW at Charenton Canal, MM 123 WHL, go north about 5 miles to Bayou Teche then west to New Iberia. Review bridges for openings.

Really beautiful cruise on Bayou Teche, Cajun Country. Many plantation homes along the route.

Water supplied, electric is provided but will need a RV plug converter for 30amp. Several 110 outlets around so will need converter. City is working on upgrading electrical service to 30 and 50 amp. Dated June 2009.
