Reviews for Dock Holidays Marina
No Transient Dockage, 2015-05-25
Captain: , Stuart, FL (165)

Called 5/24/2015. Recording says Dock Holiday does not offer transient dockage.

Good place to hide from storms, 2015-03-06
Captain: , Hampton, VA (271)

Good docks, clean showers. Privetly owned slips can be rented by the month from the owners. Some times you can get a good deal. Well protected from storms, no wakes, no current.

Nice Marina, 2015-01-05
Captain: , Palm Coast, Fl (91)

I stayed here about 4 months. Rented a slip from a Private Owner. The dock Boy can fix you up with someone. inexpensive. The only problemwe had was couldn't reach the Marina WIFI. Being that it's tucked into a cove like. I felt safe from storms off the Atlantic. Pet friendly. Stores within walking distance.

20 Dec 2014 ATTEMPT to stay, 2014-12-20
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (650)

We have generally stayed here because we like the location. On a Saturday, 20 Dec left 2 messages on phone to get a return call a bout aviailability. Never got a reply. When we passed the place saw boats at marina but office looked closed.

Big bang for your buck., 2014-11-21

Left boat here for a month to return home. Thanks Cody and Dock master for local info.. Had great breakfast at The Shack.. Killer shrimp and crap omelet.. Boardwalk Billys walking distance from marina has great food.. Any store you need is real close. Walmart real close.. CVS, West Marine within walkiing distance. If I wasn't in a hurry to head south, it would be nice to stay here for a while.. These guys here can help you with what you need.

Not nice - lots of charter boats, 2013-05-01
Captain: , Marathon, FL (496)

We stayed here because it was close to our friends in town. The marina now caters to BIG commercial fishing boats and only has a few transient slips available. We were put on the fuel dock where our power cords would not reach to the nearest connection. The docks are uneven and the marina overall is not nice for cruisers.

Past its prime, 2012-11-23
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (152)

Nice folks. No amenities. Showers but nothing else. Restaurant is closed. Next time we'd stop at Barefoot Landing. Fortunelity, we had some local friends to take us to dinner.

Satisfactory, 2012-05-28
Captain: , Florida (10)

A little long in the tooth, but the folks are pleasant and the proximity to stores noted before is good. Reasonable rates. Description should be updated to indicate that they do NOT have laundry facilities and the nearest laundromat is several miles away, if that was going to be a factor in opting to stay here.

Not all it's cracked up to be......, 2012-04-21
Captain: , Hubert, NC (20)

We were travelling through on 4/21/2012 at noon on a Saturday and all 3 restaurants were closed! There was no dock master or anyone else in sight.

Good place to hang out in NMB, 2012-03-06
Captain: , Shinnecock Bay, NY (610)

One of the restaurants is open and the lighting to the T-docks is shut off, but the main dock area is good. Showers are still in good shape. Rhett and Mat do the best they can with what they have. The marina was dredged about 3 years ago and there is no problem with my 5.5' keel. Local restaurants, Food Lion, West Marine, WalMart, Home Depot, CVS, Walgreens all handy, less than 1.5 miles to any of them.

Welcome transiets, 2012-02-08
Captain: , SeaScape Marina (310)

Easy access from the ICW. Wide access lane. Reasonable priced transient slips.

Easy Access, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Wrightsville, NC (270)

Transient slips can be had directly behind the Raw Bar restaurant. During our trip last September 2011, they had great live beach music. You could relax on the back of your boat approximately 50" from the outdoor conncert.

Trailer boaters haven, 2012-01-23
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

Dock Holidays is a well sheltered harbor directly on the ICW. There are few marinas where you can park your car directly behind your boat and have nearby trailer storage as you do at Dock Holidays. The shower facilities are ample but the dock area is a little dated. Depending what your looking for this can be a great stop due to the proximity to restaurants and the great service you receive from the marina staff.

Its all in what your looking for. Its a cheap stop for the night. Restaurant closed and docks in bad shape. Walking distance to provisions, drug store and West Marine and several restaurants. I needed something from West Marine so it served my purpose. The dock hand was very helpful

Good location, friendly staff, 2011-11-30
Captain: , boca raton (94)

Close to good eats and groceries/drug store. Restaurant has been closed for twenty years but otherwise a decent stay. Nice bathrooms.

Not bad for an overnight stop, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL (533)

I wanted somewhere to pull of the ICW and have a quick in and quick out the next day. This place worked perfectly for that. It did seem a bit like the place was 'tired', but I wasn't there for the ambience. I possibly would pass it up if I was staying for a while.

Good Experience, 2011-05-24
Captain: , Cape Haze, Fl (140)

We stayed here one night mainly because it was very convenient for provisioning. Food Lion Grocery, CVS, & West Marine within a very short walking distance. We found the wood docks quite acceptable but the highway noise might be a problem without running the AC and the marina itself is short on amenities. Dockhands were helpful....all in all a great stop.

A good nights rest after the crazies, 2011-05-22
Captain: , Knapps Narrows Md (450)

We found ourselves traveling on a Saturday thru Myrtle Beach. Weekend traveling thru narrow areas with jet skis and water skiers is not for the faint of heart. The marina staff was helpful in tieing up but watch the current. Restaurant is closed(its the economy) but there are plenty of others within walking distance. We walked to a drug store, supermarket and West marine, all an easy walk so provisioning was easy. The boat traffic died down at night so we spent a peaceful night.

A disappointing experience, 2011-04-20
Captain: , Between Boats, USA (623)

We had plans to stay here tonight. We called ahead and they had space. When we hailed on 16, we asked for a slip and were still put on a face dock open to the ICW (yes, we were offered the opportunity to move, but declined). Even the inside slips are a bit open to the waterway and I have trouble sleeping with our fenders creaking. The Wi-Fi didn't reach the docks and the docks were very old. Even the pedestals were in very bad shape.

We decided that for less money (he told us $1.40/ft and Harborgate was only $1.25) we already knew we would have a better experience elsewhere. He was a little confrontational when we told him we were thinking of leaving and we felt like we had to come up with more excuses why we didn't want to stay. We all agreed that we would think about it as we walked to West Marine for filters.

On our walk we decided didn't want to chance it and we would offer him $10 for the one hour stay and move on to Harborgate. He would not take our money. We'll give it two stars because he seemed like a good dockhand and was there to help us tie up when we arrived and TBH, if we need to tie up and goto West Marine again, we would like to try again. Even if just for another hour or to try the restaurant.

Yes, this review was written by someone who did not stay there, but I would advise y'all to skip Dock Holidays until they get a major upgrade. It's just not going to stay competitive in it's current state.

Good nights sleep -, 2010-10-30
Captain: , Southport, NC (98)

The docks are beginning to show their age. The restroom and showers were clean. The dock master was very friendly and helpful. The slips are well protected from the ICW traffic. Only downside was the fuel dock was not open at 9:00 AM.
Just in the same complex was a bar and grill where the food and beer was very good. The fried shrimp and oysters were as good as I have ever eaten.

Now in need of an overhaul, 2010-06-22
Captain: , Buffalo (1154)

The docks and grounds are in need of a sprucing up, but it is still a good place to stay. Caution, there are small ants in the dock who like to crawl up ropes and shore power cords.

Good Stopover, 2007-04-11
Captain: , Oriental, NC (7)

Nice, clean facility at reasonable prices. Close to a half dozen restaurants, grocery, drug store and West Marine. Friendly staff. We especially reccommend Carabbas Restaurant.
