Reviews for Doc Ford's Bar and Grill
Great food and view, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Kemah (10)

Dined here twice in one week. Oysters on half shell were large, cold and fresh. Grouper sandwich was excellent and you can watch the local fishing charters come and go.

The best restaurant during our visit, 2016-01-23
Captain: , Bay City, MI (609)

We had a great dinner at Doc Ford's. Appetizer was great as were our dinners. We sat at the bar and the bartender was working like a dog, but he took good care of us and entertained us as well. Lively, fun place with good food and good service.

Great Lunch, 2015-04-02
Captain: , Honolulu (531)

Stopped for lunch and had the Panko Crusted Fish sandwich, very tasty, excellent patio on the water. Plenty of dock space for passing boaters. Didn't try the rum drinks (driving) but will be back.

A great place for an afternoon, 2013-12-27
Captain: , Deale Maryland (110)

Great food and drinks along with the atmosphere. Sit outside and enjoy the local bands that play in the afternoons late in the week. This is one of our must stops in Fort Myers Beach.

Great meal and great scenery, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Houston, TX (523)

We had the Yucutan Shrimp and it was excellent, as was the Gator Mojito. Beautiful views from the outdoor deck.

Maybe the best in Fort Myers Beach area. Try the fish tacos.

What's up Doc, 2012-05-25
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (322)

This is a great restaurant that has a dual personality. You can dine outside (upstairs or down) and it has a low key feel and you can be perfectly at home straggling in after a rough day on the boat. Upstairs inside (air conditioned) dining is available as well and has a much nicer "restaurant feeling that is equally home to flipflops or slacks and dresses. Good grub but some of the dishes tend to try to be too "artsy" for my taste. Dockage may be tight during season but you can nearly always squeeze a dinghy in.

Kind of a keys type place, Lots of keys History in his books!, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Key Largo (5304)

fixed docks, no special shakes, other than the atmosphere, and writer who owns the place. Did happy hour there, and snacks.

Food, Literature, and Fun, 2012-03-20
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

Doc Ford is a wonderful character with adventures often on the water. His namesake restaurant is worthy of a visit -- good food, reasonable prices, fun atmosphere, and 19 premium runs to sample. And, you can dock there. A great opportunity in Ft. Myers Beach.

Tiny Marina but Fantastic Restaurant, Bar and VERY Affordable Dockage, 2011-04-20
Captain: , St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (404)

A wonderful restaurant bar and grill owned by famous author Randy Wayne White. If you've read any of his books all set in Florida, then you'll recognize the character Doc Ford this restaurant is named after. Randy is often at the restaurant signing his books for fans. Big restaurant, small marina. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. The drinks are great with huge selection and priced right. Wonderful atmosphere for dining inside or out doors, and with overnight dockage at only $1 per foot including electric, it's worth spending the night and giving your genny a rest!
