Reviews for Diamond's Edge Restaurant and Marina
Great food / there are other places to overnight..., 2016-09-02
Captain: , Portland, ME (66)

For the restaurant: The food is excellent, the space is comfortable, and the views are exceptional. A fine place to go for a meal.

As an overnight spot: Within a one to two hour sail, there are more interesting places to spend the night. You are only allowed to walk on main road. I don't blame the residents--I would value my privacy if I lived there--but there is not a lot to do. Long trek to rest rooms and showers.

Superb food served at a table outside on the lawn overlooking the cove. We had the cod, tuna, and "bouillabaisse" (it was called something else) entrees, but what stole the show were the corn and crab bisque to start and the Maine blueberry pie a la mode to end. Friendly service. Bartender makes a good mojito. Entrees $25-40. Plenty of wines under $40/bottle. We're here only one night but would come back for another dinner if we were here longer.

Third time spending a few nights on a transient slip here. We try to make a point to make it an annual trip. Gorgeous views. Protected harbor. Restrauant is excellent. Some transient slips didn't have power/water though - but, they moved us to one that did.

I haven't been to the restaurant in years, but there have been several management changes in the past few years, with the latest certainly for the better. The food was delicious and the service outstanding across the board. The location speaks for itself. The dockhand, Ben, was very accomodating. Will be going back!

I only stopped for lunch so I dont want to be too wordy, but my only comment is make sure you know how to get into it...but once in, very nice dockage, a great restuarant within short walk from the dock...very protected cove...I wish I could add more...but as a first timer docking there, I'm glad I had a local captain with me to show me the easy way in and out

Nice people, great views and good food!, 2013-08-01

We cruised over from Portland to have lunch at the restaurant. I had called to reserve a table for five and had a pleasant chat with the hostess. After telling her that we hadn't been there in several years, she told us that the restaurant was under new management. Very cordial.. The dock master was welcoming and helped us with our lines. Dockage was $5.00 for our 52 foot boat for lunch. The food was good, the server great and the views were world class. Recommend.

Diamond's Edge, 2011-11-27

Made our first trip this summer (2011) and went back the next weekend. Wonderful view of the cove and marina with seating inside and outside on the lawn or porch. Food was delicious. It can get pretty busy coming in and out of the cove with private boats and the Casco Bay Ferry. Traffic enters the cove from several directions.

We dinghied here from Spring Point and found it to be a pleasant spot to stop. The moorings in the cove are private and mostly used on weekends. Check with the marina as to overnight availability or which ones are best.

Did not feel welcome at all, 2010-04-20
Captain: , York, ME (1971)

Don't believe what the guides say. The old government buildings are all exclusive homes now. There may be trails, but the locals made it very clear that outsiders are not welcome on them. Before I continue, rest assured that I don't begrudge the island community for wanting to keep their retreat private. If I spent that kind of money on a summer home, I'd want to keep it to myself too. While the marina staff was polite and helpful, we were quickly made aware of the island restrictions, which included staying only one the one public road. The restaurant seemed very nice, we learned that the former president had been there for dinner the weekend before. We decided that it just wouldn't be a relaxing environment. There are SO many other great places in Casco Bay, From DiMillo's on the waterfront to some of the best anchorages available. Some may find this an ideal location, but it simply wasn't for us.
