Reviews for DiMillo's Old Port Marina
Wonderful Stop, 2016-09-10
Captain: , Palm Beach (10)

Always enjoy visit DiMillo's, staff is excellent, great location and Portland is enjoyed by all.

Poorly Trained Deck Crew, 2016-08-17
Captain: , Camden, Maine (100)

If you like bright lights and very poorly trained deck hands go to Dimillo's. We had a terrble experience with incompetent deck hands, and when we mentioned it at the office, their reaction was sorry, bu that is one of the big wigs daughters. We will not be back.

Marketing versus simple signage for Showers/Restrooms; Drunks at 3:30AM, 2016-08-15
Captain: , salem (10)

The experience started off good. The hand at the gas dock was very helpful and knowledgable. He also assisted us in getting into the narrow slip. The office people also were friendly when we checked in. Instead of a bag of marketing materials, though, I would prefer if the Marina had better signage for the location of showers and restrooms. I watched several people walk around aimlessly just as I had done before I figured out where everything was located. Not a single sign for restrooms/showers? The shower/restroom -- there were only two for the entire marina---were clean and modern and very nice. The problem is you have to wait a half hour sitting on concrete to keep your place in line. Definitely more shower/restroom facilities needed here.

At 3:30 AM some drunk woman was practically yelling while on the back of her square Carver, dock-shaped boat. I asked her twice politely to speak less loudly or go in her cabin but to no avail. She was mouthing off about "transients" and how she had been there for 5 years, etc. I know you cannot choose your neighbors but someone should be on call to deal with drunks on their houseboats in the middle of the night so the rest can get a decent night's sleep.

Very "In Town", 2016-08-05
Captain: , Wickford, RI (550)

good dock staff, exce;llent location right in downtown amidst the food scene. We had the bad judgement to arrive on a weekend and every restaurant near the water had an hour wait.

nice stop right "downtown", 2016-07-31
Captain: , City Island New York (210)

clean well maintained and great location...walk to J's for great seafood right off the dock...also great food scene intown..also check out the fish market just arounf the corner..

Great stay!, 2016-07-28
Captain: , Dinner Key (50)

Docked for 2 nights in July 2016. The dockhands were helpful. The marina is well maintained and has clean bathroom/showers available. They have an excellent restaurant on the premises. Downtown location is fantastic! Will be back for sure.

fabulous location, very pricy, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Salem, MA (34)

Did not experience the roll that many suggest is problematic. We were between the restaurant and the condos so there is a lot of cruise boat traffic during the day but not an issue either unless gawkers bother you. Very pricy but access to the city can't be beat. Staff are friendly and patient. Docks are in very good shape and the slip fingers are wide and stable. Secured access.
Only two head / shower combos didn't seem to be an issue during the week. Laundry available.
Take the Trolley tour for a quick overview of Portland.

Excellent stay, 2016-07-27
Captain: , Savannah (10)

I arrived with serious mechanical problems and the service folks went out of their way to help arrange for mechanical assistance. The marina is very nice and clean with great location

Old Port's Finest, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Daniel Island, SC (310)

DiMillo's is a must stop to experience the history and now revitalization of Portland's Old Port. Noteworthy is their service department now headed up by Aaron Comier. It's an accomodating marina with a long history of ethical service.

Tight Marina, Rolly during ferry hours, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Boston (50)

We rented a transient slip and spent a Friday night here. The near constant ferry traffic kept us rolling from 6AM - 10PM. Good restaurants nearby, and nice facilities on site.

Excellent facility, 2014-10-26
Captain: , Portland, Maine (845)

DiMillos is the marina to stay at if you want to be in the heart of Portlands old port. It is walking distance to major food stores, West marine and Hamilton marine. The marina has newer docks with water, power and cable tv included. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Amanda, the manager, does a great job. Fuel prices are fair and you can count on the fuel being fresh as they cater to many mega yachts who fill their tanks here.

Great Downtown Location - Top Notch, 2014-09-14
Captain: , Boston (60)

The beast feature about DeMillo's is the location. Hard by downtown with all the great eateries. Despite all the boat traffic our slip was quiet and steady with the built in breakwater. All the ususal downtown amenities. We didn't think the price was out of line with the rest we saw in Maine in 2014. They also have a network of service vendors which is pretty extensive, if you need work done.

Stinky Diesel Fumes, 2014-08-16
Captain: , Atlantic Coast (341)

Docked across from a megayacht which was running a generator 24/7 blowing fumes towards us. Suggest DiMillo's needs to 1) provide adequate power so megayacht's don't need to run generators, 2) prohibt megayachts from running their generators with exhaust blowing at other boats, or 3) not accept megayachts. Otherwise ok.

Good Marina, 2014-08-09
Captain: , Norwalk (293)

It was our second time there and our impressions from our first visit were confirmed, in that this is a well run marina, friendly and clean. Fuel prices are fair and discounts for larger fillings decent.

DiMillos Marina, 2014-08-03
Captain: , Henderson Harbor, NY (431)

Great Marina..all ammenities...priced on the upper ends of good marina's, but one of the best I've stopped at...excellent docks, clean rest rooms, and short walking distances to all types of stores, bars, resturants, etc. The service and location makes it a 5 Star from my viewpoint

Wonderful!, 2013-11-04
Captain: , Cape Porpoise, Maine (250)

A very welcoming staff, very good floating docks and a fantastic location made for a wonderful summer. When we applied for a slip for the 2013 summer season, we were given clear information with great follow up by Amanda and Andy. The docks were well maintained and our slip was on busy Long Wharf, but the rolling was really not a problem. The location, in the middle of Portland, cannot be beat! Great restaurants, wonderful shops, excellent bakeries and very good produce are just a short walk away. Did I mention a very complete wine shop? Fuel and pump out are available and are reasonably priced. Complete service is available on site as well. We loved it!

Good location, 2013-10-28
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

We stopped here as a change of pace from the rest of Maine, we were able to rent a car and when white water rafting, so this location really works, very nice town and marina, didnt really notice the roll like others had mensioned.

Portland Access, 2013-10-06
Captain: , Marblehead, MA (50)

Excellent stop if you want easy access to Portland downtown shopping, restaurants and attractions.

Downsides are: Marina has a nasty roll, bring good fenders. Noisy and bright at night. Staff OK. Facilities are small and there was a wait for showers before dinner (Friday night in August).

A great place to explore Portland from, 2013-08-11
Captain: , PooleUK (973)

We ended up staying a couple of days longer than we anticipated, but the friendly staff accomodated us with no issues, the slip was snug for our beam, and once they recognised this they allocated the next slip only to narrow vessels.
This is a grat spot to explore Portland from and I can highly recomend the local area and eating establishments.
I loath the "But" I feel it is only fair to be frank and provide a full review.
The swell through the marina from the passing trafficc can have the odd masts clashing together, the WIFI is a tease, it works for long enough to download your emails and then drops out for an hour.
If you are unfortunate enough to require the ablutions, be prepared for a very long wait, there is only one such facility on site, with a shower (which could do with a re-furb) which means that there will be a long que at the door, morning noon and night. I would suggest visiting the old ferry and buying a soda, and making use of the better ablutions there.
It is a shame, as I would like to be more postitive, a great location, great staff, let down a little by wake from passing traffic, frustrating WIFI and the woefully inadequate rest rooms.
I did not mention the power keept tripping out, as I was assured this was a short term issue.

close to the City, 2012-08-28
Captain: , Annapolis (451)

It's proximity to all the benefits of Portland, make it bearable. Pricey, rolly, in need of some clean up & better ventilation of it's showers. Very helpful staff. Secure facility. DeMillos offers access to all the beauty of Portland.

Good Stop Going North, 2012-07-27
Captain: , Hilton Head (130)

Marina is a bit tight in places but docks and power in good shape. Nice office set up and staff was friendly. Portland has a lot to offer - especially in the bakery department - watch your waiselines! Overall a nice dependable stop.

Close to everything you could want, 2012-07-27
Captain: , walpole, me (101)

A great place for dining and the bar scene as you are a close walk to dozens of great restaurants and bars. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The showers and heads were well cared for and clean and the docks were good but not great - could use an upgrade. We did not experience the surge that others have complained of but we were 2 runs in. We'll be back.

very mixed but served our provisioning purpose, 2012-07-07
Captain: , Newport (404)

Good news is cheapest fuel in the area and the dock staff were attentive. Bad news is the rock and roll almost never stops. Facility showing its age. We were assigned a slip that was 8 feet too short and the fairway was intended for smaller boats. Office staff was incredulous when we asked for quarters for the laundry. But this was a provision stop and with Hamiltons, and markets very handy we accomplished all that. The local liveaboards recommended a marina across the harbor with moorings and free launch and free laundry. They will drop you in town for your shopping and pick you up. That's what we will do next time.

Great location, 2011-09-08
Captain: , Aquebogue, NY (130)

As stated earlier, it is a great location but you do pay for it. I diverted in for weather in the early morning and they let me check in well prior to the normal 12pm time. Free wifi but I had trouble keeping the connection on multiple devices.

Wonderful location; helpful staff, 2011-08-12
Captain: , Portsmouth (372)

Demillo's is perfectly located for a visit to Portland. The marina itself is in good repair, power is stable, and the staff is very helpful. WiFi is only fair. As others have mentioned, some parts of the marina get considerable surge.

$3.95/foot + $20/single 50A cable in August 2011.

4 Stars if NOt for Price, 2010-10-16
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

We loved our stay in Portland. Convient marina to town, and good staff. Facilities are pretty good. A little noisy on weekends, but not bad. No wakes

Could be in better shape, New England expensive, 2010-07-17
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Really 3 1/2 stars. Needed some maintenance. There was some surge. Really convenient to town, which is a great place to visit. Eat at one of the great restaurants in town.
Update 7/10. Marina appears in better shape then last visit. Helpful staff. No surge noticed on the east side of the ship/restaurant, which had a very good lobster roll at a very good price. We really like Portland as a great walking around town and DiMillo's is right in the center of town.

Location Primo, 2010-03-21
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (465)

Old Port is the place to be in Portland. DiMillo staff top notch. Becky's diner (opens 0400) for breakfast and Walter's for dinner - both walking distance - are a must when you visit.

Convenient, expensive, tight fit, 2009-07-01
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1332)

DiMillo's right-in-downtown-Portloand can't be beat, and Portland is a great walking city with much to see and enjoy, including great restaurants, within an easy walk of the marina. The downside is the marina is expensive, a continuing surge rolls yachts most everywhere in the marina, and they've crammed in as many slips as possible with little room left over for maneuvering in and out--definitely a tight fit. The marina is in good but not great repair. Excellent if pricey electric.

Good location but underwhelming, 2008-11-10
Captain: , San Diego (5)

Excellent location for walking in downtown Portland. But the surge in the marina is considerable and the slips are a tight fit; does not give the impression of being well maintained and is pricey. There is an excellent kitchen shop across the street and several places to buy bulk coffee. Big Mama's Diner is a short walk away and a good place for breakfast. To stock up on fresh food we had to take a cab to Whole Foods, which is the closest grocery store. We would not return to DiMillos.

Great Marina, 2007-02-18
Captain: , Chesapeake (261)

We found them very accomodating. Prices reasonable. And we enjoyed Portland, which we found very pedestran friendly.

Captain: , Stratford, CT (146)

The best place to stay if you want to be in town. A nice marina with older facilities. There are wooden breakwalls to dampen the wave action, but bigger boats have to be on the outside.

Dimillo's, 2007-02-02

Great Location/Fuel Price VG/Make reservations!

Great spot but pricey, 2007-01-22
Captain: , MV Red Head (3106)

We stopped there the last time we went south. The facility is good. The location is excellent. Right in Old Port in Portland. Easily walked to lots of shops, restuarants, even a fabulous bakery (Standard Bakery). But it was our most expensive spot of the trip.
