Reviews for Detroit Yacht Club
Busy but very nice., 2016-06-27
Captain: , LaSalle MI (597)

Dock hands met us at dock and knew what to do. The club is a fantastic piece of history that should be experienced at least once. Restaurants were quite reasonable but service was not up to par. Food was very good. The best part is the ambiance, goes back to when boating was yachting in the true sense of the word. Pool, tennis, small workout room, hot tub....plenty to offer.

Very friendly place, 2014-08-25

My wife and I have been lucky enough to call the DYC home for the last 13 years. We liveabaord here fulltime (yes they allow a FEW liveaboards during the winter) and the staff and members are some of the best peoiple I have ever known. If you are a member of a reciprocal club this is a place to put on your list of places to stop. The bar and restraunt are fantastic. Pool fitness center hot tub cabana bar at pool indoor pool, this club has it all.

A class establishment, 2013-07-03

The club and facilities are very good if not cheap. Be prepared to pay a fair rate for the high standards the club provides. Great club house and grounds.

Cool place & lots of nautical history...., 2012-09-22

Big boats & very cool facilities. Lots of nautical history in the Belle Isle area!!!

Continually improving!, 2012-05-10

One would expect to hear about a formerly-glorious old club in the city that's not what it used to be. Not so! I haven't been a member for almost 10 years, but I visited a few weeks ago. Nearly everything about the club is the same or better than it was then. The membership seems to be getting younger, more energetic and less bureaucratic. Pride is evident everywhere. Dockmaster Ross and his dockhands are helpful, polite and professional. Same goes for the bar and waitstaff. Way to go DYC! Keep it up.

Nice stop., 2011-09-19

Robb the dockmaster was very cordial and very willing to assist, Clubhouse and grounds spectacular. Needed 2 x 50 electric and maintenance said you could not use two different boxes (absolutely incorrect) Has no power ran gen all night. Docks need repair.

Beautiful old place, 2011-08-09
Captain: , Detroit (720)

spent months visiting for Power Squadron classes. Nice people, good docks, good restaurant, wonderful historic building. Full service club if not quite full service marina. if the price weren't so high, I'd be a member. Once youre there, note that its a couple miles off the island to a store or other restaurant, so come prepared.

Wonderful stop, 2009-08-12

The Detroit Yacht Club is a delightful, grand old facility that is welcoming to transient yachtsmen. The docks are in fine shape, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The clubhouse is a huge, historic building that has some amazing rooms. There is a first-class restaurant and a very attractive pool.

We spent one night there in 2009 at the beginning of a cruise from Michigan to Rhode island and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
