Reviews for Deer Harbor Marina
Pleasant Night, 2016-10-05
Captain: , Portland (279)

Wide fairways, wide slips, wide docks. Everything is kept clean and tidy. Folks in snack bar very friendly and helpful.

Laundry small but very clean. Get tokens from snack bar or office when checking in. Restrooms and showers are clean and open all night. If you are going to take a shower, buy tokens before snack bar closes at 6:00PM. You need a key to dump trash; again, you need it before snack bar closes.

Restaurant across the street from marina is out of business. Rumors say it will re-open, but nobody seems to know when. It is a long walk to the old resort, but they will send a car for you. Excellent home-style meals.

Pleasant stay, 2016-08-30
Captain: , Seattle (344)

Running low on water, I stopped for a night the week before Labor Day weekend. Plenty of room. These folks are nice and accommodating. Unlimited water available for paying customers. Clean facilities. They have free Wifi and an Internet phone available for calls if needed. The docks are well maintained and the fairways wide. The slips are generously wide as well. Open to the south breeze but not uncomfortable. Very pleasant one night stay.

Peaceful & Fun, 2016-08-29
Captain: , Summerlin, NV (350)

We just spent 1 night but really enjoyed it. Great staff, nice clean and stable docks, wonderful restroom and shower facilities, good snack bar with yummy ice creams and coffees. Just fun location in a beautiful little bay. Easy access to the fuel dock, and to your assigned transient dock. Dock hands are readily available to point out your dock as you arrive, and to assist as desired.

Captain: , FT. COLLINS (138)

Nice clean and friendly. Slips are exposed to south and southwest blows. Anchorage is good in about 40ft with good holding north of Fawn Island. Nice little stove right in the marina and a restaurant a short walk down the road. Not a lot more than that. I would recommend and will be back.

Great Stop With Kids, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Kirkland (125)

Deer Harbor is a can't-miss for boaters with kids! The marina can accommodate boats of all sizes, and we found they had much higher availability than nearby Rosario. Fuel and pump out services, plus 30-amp power and water connections, also gets your boat everything it needs.

First stop is the very small grocery on the pier. Despite its size, you can get all the basics, although in small quantities, here, including a number do locally made grocery options.

The small grocery doubles as the cafe and fish n chips bar. The espresso is good but not bold, so ask for extra shots. The fish and chips are great, with the fries and onion rings possibly better than the main course.

Next, head to the Gift Barge, where you can book a whale-watching tour, and also pay for your moorage while choosing from a small selection of logo wear and toys.

In the afternoon, take the kids to the heated outdoor pool, which is free with moorage. But also, don't miss the sandy beach where you can utilize those buckets and shovels to build sandcastles, or play in the shallow water. At low tide, play "Don't get squirted by a clam!"

The fish shack closes at 4PM, so for dinner, make reservations at the Restaurant at Deer Harbor Inn, which is about a 10-minute walk along a beautiful country road. It's family-friendly, but nice enough to make the adults feel like you had a special evening out. Raining? No problem, just call for the complimentary limo to pick you up and take you back to the marina.

Other than the restaurant and fish shack, there's not a whole lot here for an adult-only crowd. But for having fun with the kids, this marina is a must in all our boating vacations!

Great quiet little stop with all the amenities..., 2013-08-27
Captain: , Novelty, WA (214)

Update August 2013: Still great, work progressing on the resort part, but the pool is open, and people are being better about how they act there. Dock staff is great- really has shone this year. Got us in multiple times this summer even when busy, found us hose extensions, etc. Great experience overall. For whatever reason, the ice cream and breakfast/lunch food has seemed to be faster, better, and tastier this year, also- great marina overall!

Update: We keep coming back to Deer Harbor- in summer, spring, fall, winter. Every season. In off season reliability of the store for food and such can vary, but this place shines when its dead. Being the only or one of two boats in for the night is a trip. Really enjoy Deer Harbor, and thus we keep coming back. Power is iffy, depends on who is on the pier with you and what they are doing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Winter rates rock! Our kids LOVE the beach, and the pool. Unfortunately the resort has been closed down. Rumor is that it is to re-open, after extensive remodeling, in July 2013. Rumor also is that the sharing of the pool with marina visitors is in jeopardy. Suggestion- if they open it, and share the pool, be REALLY polite about the use of the pool so we can all keep using it. I've seen some marina guests be exceptionally inappropriate or rude here, so let's show the boating community off a bit better?

Came in August 2012, weekend, height of the season- on a lark added a day to our trip and called Deer Harbor to see if they could get us in somehow- and they did. Great spot if a bit tough to get into- but they sent 2 people down to help this "still learning" skipper. Well done!

Spent a night in Deer Harbor at the end of June 2011. Had our 4 small children with us, so spending the night at a marina is a great move to get the kids off the boat and give them some run around time.

Deer Harbor staff seems at times overwhelmed- but they are consistently VERY friendly and helpful, and this is my current favorite stop. The marina had a great sense of community- people coming to help tie up, say hello, and talk about boats and cruising. Really friendly all around. Some marina's this isn't the case, and Deer Harbor's sense of community has started to stick out to us in a positive way because of this.

Love that there is warm food sold right on the dock, fuel, pump out, water, and electricity. Store has the usual better than the size would indicate selection of groceries, etc.

Water and electricity is included in moorage, pump out is extra. Rates were very reasonable compared to other locales.

The beach is very accessible and the kids love it- still talk about it and want to know why all stops don't have fun beaches! Marina even has a rinse off spot to clean shoes/feet when you leave the beach. Very thoughtful.

When we arrived, I was a little concerned as one pier had a group of partiers on it- but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they contained their party and kept the noise at a very reasonable level. So even that worked out!

Overall a great marina, great staff, great location- recommended!

Deer Harbor Marina - A good rest stop, 2013-08-18
Captain: , Swantown Marina, Olympia, Wa (180)

8-4-13 Waggoner's describes Deer Harbor Marina well. Stopped there for fuel andpump out. Anchored in the bayfor two nights. Mud bottom held well. Facilities were clean and professionally operated. Would consider Deer Harbor again if in the area.

Nice for what it is, 2013-08-10
Captain: , Albany (171)

Popular, smaillish marina with friendly helpful staff. Good food and ice cream in the marina store/restaurant. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. Hot water was hot.

Some of the dock boards need to be screwed down, but overall no compliants. Picnic tables on the docks are a nice touch.

Deer Harbor, 2013-07-10
Captain: , Liberty Bay Washington (400)

Nice friendly people working here. Had planed on anchoring, but the weather was not very good when we arrived. Public slips were full, but they put us in a vacant yacht club slip. $80 bucks, which I thought was a bit high for the amenity's here. Had ice cream at the dock store, but was raining to hard to go to the resturant 1/2 mile away. A lot of larger boats were coming into the marina above wake speed which caused a lot of rocking in the slip. Also a fair amount of float plane traffic. Not much to do on shore. Overall, I thought it was overated by some of the cruising guides.

Nice Marina, 2013-07-01
Captain: , SV Kairos, Eagle Harbor, Bainbridge Is. WA (233)

The marina is in very good condition with a few amenidies on shore. There are a number of slips in the 45 foot range for larger boats. There is a nice restaurant a half mile from the marina, easy walk. The marina staff will say it is a quarter mile but it is really a half mile:) The staff is very nice. The little store in the marina is well stocked.

Great Lunch Stop, 2013-06-22
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (220)

The Deer Harbor marina staff is very helpful and friendly quickly offering us a hand tying up and they gave us a run down on the facilities and community.

If you tie-up on the shore side of the dock - be careful as it is only 4' deep about 40' from the dock - don't ask me how I know this...

The little shops are interesting and the restaurant/shack serves a pretty good burger and great ice cream.

This is one of our favorite places to vist. The dock crews are very helpful and the Deer Harbor Inn at the top of the road is one of our favorite places to eat out. You walk about 1/4 mile up the road and cut through an apple orchard and follow the path to the Inn. You can't get lost, much of the food is grown in the garden the menu is as good as you will find in the Islands.

There is a small store at the top of the docks that you can get basic foods, but is limited. The showers are very nice and during Summer, you may catch a purple sunset if the weather is clear. We go back every year even though the moorage seems to become higher each time we go. If you want to enjoy Deer Harbor on a budget, anchor off and dingy into the marina. The anchorage is very good and is a very shot ride by dingy.

Very Nice and Friendly, 2012-07-30

Best Dock help we have had on our trip, even my wife was happy with the way we docked.
Clean and well kept facility. Very friendly staff.
Real good hambuger at the marina store

Must Visit Here, 2012-07-28
Captain: , Everett (11)

07/28/2012 Stopped in just on a sunny Saturday no reservation and they scrambled to get us in. Two boats and they handled it very professionally. Dock help standing by at your assigned slip ready to receive you. Customer service is excellent!

July, 2012, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Asheville, nc (40)

We docked our 42 foot chartered sailboat at the Deer Harbor Marina in early July, 2012 because we had had a good stay there four years ago. As last time, everything was great. The people are nice, the facilities are clean and the views are wonderful. The slips are wide enough to be comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the area and the residents were friendly and took the time to chat. We would go back in a minute.

Laid back place, 2012-06-13
Captain: , Seattle, WA (437)

Deer Harbor is a really mellow, old-school marina. Granted it's mid-June, but there were two groups in during our stay. Nice docks and very friendly crew. The only negative for us was ability to get around the island, but we're told there is a rental car and taxi. We'll be back!

One note is that it looks like Bellport is divesting its marinas and Deer Harbor is for sale as of Spring 2012.

A really nice Marina, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Deer Harbor (12)

I keep my boat at Deer Harbor Marina year round. Of all the marinas in the northwest that I have kept my boat at this is my favorite. The staff at the store are genuinly nice people and the Harbormaster Marc Broman is great, easy going yet able to get things done to keep the marina in excellent shape. Wonderfull.

Gem in the San Juans, 2011-09-01
Captain: , Sequim Bay (317)

This marina is a charming throw back from another era. Very laid back, decent facilities and great social scene. Leave your tensions at the harbor entrance. This place has charm oozing out of the woodwork.

Pleasantly surprised, 2011-08-03
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (469)

The dock staff was excellent and very helpful. Nice little store at the top of the docks and the little beach was a huge hit with the kids. Pool too.

Deer Harbor, Keeps Getting Better and Better, 2010-05-18
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (282)

Deer Harbor is a friendly, accessable marina. Popular destination for groups in the summer, some of our best stays are in the off season when things are slow and the slips are not so crowded.
Not a lot of night-life, but there are a couple of good restaurants that will pick you up at the marina. Always an enjoyable stop.

Comfortable Family Retreat, 2009-09-22
Captain: , Flowery Branch, GA (40)

We made a reservation at Deer Harbor a couple of days before the Independence Day holiday and had no problem getting in. They were more than accommodating with very capable dock hands ready to help us dock the boat and even adjust the position in the slip for easier power access. The small but well stocked store was nice and clean with polite workers. Our family enjoyed the swimming pool and had a GREAT dinner at the restaurant at the Deer Harbor Inn.

The Restaurant, 2009-06-17
Captain: , Point Roberts (230)

A visit to Deer Harbour is not complete without a visit to the Deer Harbour Restaurant 1/4 mile up the road.
There is also a bus service that stops at the marina and you can tour the island and spend a couple hours in the shops at Eastsound before returning to the marina.

Great place, 2007-10-27
Captain: , Anacortes, WA (13)

Large docks with picnic benches. So you can have a party right at your boat! Also on the dock a fun little store/cafe you can get simple food items, drinks or a cheeseburger. How fun is that?

Good - March 2007, 2007-04-14
Captain: , Anacortes (83)

We stayed here in early March 2007. The docks were in very good condition. The staff in the store/office were very nice. They helped make a reservation for dinner for us at the Deer Harbor Inn. The restaurant at the Deer Harbor Inn was comfortable and the food was excellent.
