Reviews for Cutty Sark Marina
Good people, good place, 2016-03-17
Captain: , Oriental, NC (71)

We brought our S2 9.2A to drop our mast, on recommendation from our rigger.

Great people and a good marina to get hauled. Bill and Jimmy treat people well, and there's a cool little restaurant on site as well.

Not really the place for transient cruisers, light on the amenities. Heavy on skills to help keep your boat in great form.

Good self service yard, 2016-01-06
Captain: , Norfolk, Va (195)

They let you work on your boat here. Will help with getting some wholesale items from Paxton. West Marine Port Supply will deliver. No surcharge to have contractor come to work on your boat. The yard can do basic things. Resturant/ Grill on site so you do not have to take a lunch break while working on your boat. Liked hauling here.

Good haul and pressure wash, 2016-01-05
Captain: , Norfolk (50)

They did a careful job hauling and pressure cleaning the boat I surveyed and bought. They scrapped all barnicles off the propeller also. Reasonable- lower price than the other marinas located at LC. I will use them again. Room for DIYers.

Meets basic needs, 2015-08-30
Captain: , Rochester, NY (100)

We pulled in for the night before heading into the ICW. Came in late so we were on our own for dockage, it was very easy to tie up to the T-head, but determining which marina was CuttySark required a yell out to a fellow sailor.

We stopped into the restarant which was a great dive bar, with fantastic hamburgers. Had live music and a great clintelle.

The heads and showers aren't the most up to date, but they're clean and close.

Good resturant, 2014-10-26
Captain: , sv Averi (664)

Good food and drinks reasonably priced. Pub grub but good! I unfortunatly can't remark on the marina but the facilities seem a bit "worn".

Good yard for haulout, 2014-04-25
Captain: , Virginia Beach, VA (63)

Do it Yourself maintenance yard. The crew spent quite a bit of time powerwashing the bottom of the boat. They were very professional during the lift, haul and blocking services. Rates are $11/ft for lift, haul, block, launch and pressure wash. $17.50/day for storage.

3 Stars for Marina 0 Stars for Resturant, 2013-12-16
Captain: , Crockett (610)

We got here after a trip up from Beaufort NC. Didn't get much help tying up to T-Head but it was pretty easy. Facilities are fairly old and there were a number of unmaintained boats in the marina.

We tried eating at the restaurant, but never before have I had such awful service. The waitress ensured we knew she was put out for having us take a seat in her section, then continued to ignore us even after I asked the bartender if there was table service. Though we were starving we got up and left.

We did find a gem though. . . Mona Lisa's Pizza. It's just down the street and has great pizza and the owner is quite the character, great lady! Also check out Salty Dag Marine supplies, I got a great deal on a hardly used Fortress FX-37

Star Wars Bar, 2013-11-22
Captain: , Deale Maryland (110)

The resturant brings in a mix of patrons simular to the bar scean in the movie Star Wars. Good food with interesting clientele.

Great place to haul your boat, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Customs House Marina, Hampton, Virginia (90)

I've been hauling my 45' Ketch, Barefoot'n, here for 27 years. Great haul and power wash service. One of the few mom/pop type marinas left that let you do your own work. Great restaurant with live music in the evenings.

Cutty Sark Marina, 2012-12-08
Captain: , East coast (57)

Had the pleasure of meeting the crew of the Cutty Sark after delivering a cat from Lisbon.

The folks at the Cutty Sark restuarant /marina took wonderful care of us, giving us a break on our rate, even driving us to the store, (Thank you Suzanne and brother!) West Marine, etc. Great food, cheap drinks, and great people. I'll definitely be back!

Great staff / support, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Miami, FL (94)

Came in with a bad alternator late on a Sunday. Got an immediate recommendation, and the guy showed up on time, first thing on Monday morning. Needless to say, I was impressed. The guy knew what he was doing -- checked the exciter circuitry, fuses, etc. he pulled the alternator and took it to a rebuilder. It took one day to get the alternator rebuilt and reinstalled.

Great work, and great service.

Btw - the food in the restaurant is fantastic and the staff is friendly and competent!!!!

Good Working Yard, 2012-07-16
Captain: , Norfolk Virginia (469)

Excellent location to work or get work done. The restaurant/bar is unique in character. Breakfast is excelllent and meal specials are just what you want after working on your boat all day. Friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to assist.

the right way, 2011-01-26
Captain: , norfolk, va (40)

Great Yard to do work., 2010-10-26
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (30)

Experienced lift operator. Fair rates and quick to help. Good food at the restaurant on site. Great place for the do it your selfer with plenty of close by professionals that could take over if you get in over head.

Great work, 2010-10-14
Captain: , Richmond (31)

With good weather, I was in and out in three days. Yard crew very friendly, helpful; made good recommendations for additional work, if I wanted to use the contractors. As noted elsewhere, the Cutty Sark diner has vg food, "We make our own crab cakes." Look for "Bill's bean soup" or "Bill's seafood gumbo" on the menu board. The bowls are full meals!

This has been a family owned operation since it was started, about 1960. I can't quote pricing, but they are very competetive. Owners are Jimmy and Bill. Jimmy handles the Travel Lift like he's rocking a baby in a cradle.

Best restaurant on the creek, 2010-06-10
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (134)

We dock at Bay Point but never miss the silly little Cutty Sark diner.

Not that familiar with the marina itself, although it appears to be full service. There is a great little restaurant on site and it serves super food at very reasonable prices. Many locals go there to eat, whether or not they keep boats at the yard. Been there a long time and for a good reason.
