Reviews for Cricket Cove Marina
Highly Recommended Marina, 2016-10-28
Captain: , Milford, CT (10)

Stayed there last year and had to run back to Connecticut by car. The management was the nicest we have meet yet. Very helpful and friendly. Great resteurant on the property. Very secure and off the main canel so we did not rock all day and night. Prices were more than fair. Defintely a place we will stop at again this year on our way to Florida and on the way back North.

3 times last year and 10 years, 2016-04-09
Captain: , Wilmington NC (400)

3/29/2016 face dock right on ICZW. had a nice diner at the on site resturant..fuel and ready to run in the morning.
12/30/15 Face dock right off ICW for the night. Easy in and out. Ripping current with tide but easy side tie up and friendly staff.
5/20-21/2015. Stopped here in bad weather...tired and wet 10 years ago to recuperate. It was a great stop then and it is now. The area has certainly changed (grown) but it's still a quiet place with an excellent staff. CVS at main road and right 2 blocks, Wilco convenient store one more block. Bar and grill on site.

Great place to stop and dink to dinner!, 2016-01-01
Captain: , Panama City FL (330)

Pulled in yesterday after leaving messages on the phone and trying the after hours callback. So we just tied up to the fuel dock leaving plenty of room if anyone came in behind us...put the dink in the water and motored up to the Crab Shack as recommended and had a great dinner. Leaving early this am so will call to make payment arrangements.

Stopped by for fuel - clean, good service and price, 2015-12-14
Captain: , Holden Beach, NC (60)

We stopped at Cricket Cove to refuel Saturday. The Dockmaster was very helpful. The facilities were clean and well protected from the ICW.

Overnight transient, 2015-05-26
Captain: , Hampton, VA (40)

Called and made a reservation which was fine. I arrived a little before 5pm and tried to call. Radio broken when I reached marina so had to call on phone. I was told to use the face dock north of the fuel dock. Power receptacle was broken. I then found out that the space belonged to a charter boat. Another charter boat came in and went to other end of face dock and said I should pull up by him to make room for the other boat. During this process I was told that I had to go to the fuel dock (which was the one I was told to not use the first time.) There was no dock hand to meet us. Additionallly the electric carts used to transport out to the far dock could not be used since no marina employee was available to come down. The marina said they could not refund any portion of my costs, but would take care of me next time. Sure! (They were nice floating concrete docks!)

Best fuel prices, 2014-12-26
Captain: , Little River, SC (754)

Top off here. These are by far the best prices in the North Strand area! Watch the current - can be as strong as 8 knots. Watch your tide charts, the current is strongly affected by the tide at Little River inlet.

Good Fuel Stop... Nice Folks, 2014-12-26
Captain: , Iotta Louisiana (404)

Tides and currents plus short daylight combined with our little one hamster outboard kicker weren't gonna let us make it down to the fancy area... Had Cricket cove marked for fuel anyway. Great prices. Closed up for the holidays but tied up to the outside fuel dock and will settle up in the morning and take on fuel. Low key in the off season Local dock holders real friendly Big current and wakes from local hotrods on outside dock. All in all it's a good stop Diesel only on the outside dock. For gasoline proceed north into the marina proper. Fuel dock at the end on left.

Facing Dock has 5 foot depth at low tide, 2014-11-23
Captain: , Rosenhaven, MD (102)

22 Nov. 2014
Ran aground twice trying to anchor in Calabash Creek at low tide. No more anchorages for 30 miles. Cricket Creek said come on in. About 30 feet from facing dock the depth was 5 feet. We draw 6.5. Managed to get three lines to dock hands. They pulled us to the the dock over the next 1.5 hours. Great dock crew. Will stay another day or two until thunder storms pass.

Lunch & fuel, 2014-10-04
Captain: , Cape Cod, MA (203)

Stopped for diesel because of the price and stayed for lunch at Snooky's right at the marina. Best grouper sandwich we've ever had. Very nice restaurant and great dock service.

The best I've ever been treated., 2014-06-22
Captain: , Southport, N.C. (60)

We came in late, after a very tough day, unfamiliar waters, etc. We had called ahead, and Brad stood on the dock with a light to get us there, (which started out being about two thousand feet out). He secured the boat, and then rode us all in a golf cart to the parking lot, where he had borrowed the 'bossmans' car, and rode us to a motel. Even sat in the parking lot to make sure we had checked in OK. Picked us up the next morning for the same return trip. Unbelievable. We have never recieved this kind of treatment before, and another marina would be hard pressed to duplicate it. We WILL be back.

Nice one night stay, 2014-05-15
Captain: , Fernandina, FL (448)

Tied up at face (fuel) dock with the help of Billy. Snooky's restaurant is very good. Brad got up the next morning to help us off at 6:30am. Tried to tell him the night before not to bother but he was there nonetheless. Nice showers. Wifi in Captain's Lounge as signal doesn't reach the long dock. A little wake through late afternoon as right on ICW and lots of traffic. Didn't need it but diesel price was good at $3.85. Would stay again.

Friendly Staff and Easy on/off ICW, 2014-04-18
Captain: , mystic, Ct (155)

Thanks to Brad Herr and the staff at Cricket Cove Marina.
Brad was very friendly and helpful. This was an emergency stop for us, and Brad's kindess and southern hospitality was greatly appreciated.

Snooky's onsite restaurant was also great. Nice outdooring dining with view of the ICW. We give the food and service 5 stars.

Very Nice Place, 2014-03-10
Captain: , HOLLY RIDGE NC (120)

Very nice marina. Facilities clean and neat. Staff is very helpfull. Resturant on site is good. Fuel prices good. Easy in and out.

Good fuel stop, 2013-11-27
Captain: , cushing, maine (482)

We stopped here for fuel. Attendant would not give any discounts because he claimed that their prices were the cheapest in 100 miles. Did find cheaper fuel advertised some 10 miles further on, but not by much. Very friendly and helpful. Would stop again and spend more time.

Great, welcoming staff, 2013-10-14
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach (30)

Spent one night here this past weekend, and the staff was wonderful. Very attentive, and helped with everything without being asked. I would definitely come back. Great fuel prioces, too. A little over a mile walk down to the little river waterfront, but very easy terrain, and worth the trip for Shrimp Fest!

excelent marina, 2013-10-14
Captain: , port Charlotte (41)

As a profesional captain I use many marinas, went though on a delivery in september, for this area this was a excelent choice, close to the inlet easy, right on ICW, good resturant, fuel at slip, and Brad lives on site and was very helpful and accomodating even got us a ride to the store and even stop at cemetary for my crew to see family plot, will use them again,

Nice little gem!, 2013-05-19
Captain: , redondo Beach, CA (272)

I stayed here for a couple of weeks when I first came through. Nice restaurant and bar (cool tiki bar in the summer) and the facilities are nice. Close to shopping and the waterfront.

No Water at Low at Fuel Dock, 2013-05-02
Captain: , Roseland, NJ (332)

This marina is terrific, right on the ICW. The fuel dock is now inside the marina and while easy to get in to and out off, is insufficient for our 5 1/2 foot draft near low tide. We arrived after hours but they stayed open for us. The showers were clean and private and we were told there is a tub in the ladies. Snooky's the restaurant was bustling when we arrived around 6:30 so we had a bottle of the house wine and decided to takeout. We chose half portions and an appetizer (Bahamian calamari---do it) and portions were huge. Didn't have water because a boat took out the lines some how today. Very friendly folk and will stay here whenever we come through.

Extremely nice stop, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Hartfield (281)

We stopped here because we had last stopped here in 2001 and wanted to see if it has changed. It has not. It is still pleasant, clean and accommodating. We ate at the restaurant this time and it was very good, so a real treat all around. They are closed Mondays from Nov through April, so plan accordingly if transient. Dockmaster said they will dredge inside the marina this summer and will have deep water at all stages of tide to the fuel dock. They dredge every four years.

Outstanding marina!, 2013-04-18
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (10)

Great marina - conviently located. We selected it due to its location. The showers and bathrooms were clean. The on-site restaurant was delicious (we recommend the calamari Bahamian-style). There are several sailboat liveaboards who are willing to help you out in any way they can (in fact, one of them works at the marina and is the "after-hours" guy). Myrtle Beach is a bit of an expensive cab ride (around $40) but there are plenty of local motels and shops around that are much closer. This marina is a great example of classic southern hospitality.

Absolutely stellar, 2013-02-04
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (33)

We stayed there 4 weeks from mid-October to mid-November. The staff was great, the restaurant (Snooky's) was first class and yes, a bit pricey, but not for the quality of food. Bathrooms EXCELLENT. That time of year it was very quiet (which is what we like), but I'm sure in July it would be different. You won't regret staying here.

great place, 2013-02-01
Captain: , Seattle (180)

Brad was great, helped with lines on his time off. Told us if we needed anything to let him know. I would deffently make this a place to stop. Besides they have one of the friendliest bar's and restaurants you would find not to mention great service and food.

Nice stop!!!, 2012-11-28
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (366)

Pulled in here during bad weather, lots of help at the dock. Stayed on the outside, bit bumpy caused by waterway traffic. Stores and restaurants are bit of a walk. Friendy staff. Very nice bathrooms.

Amazing Experience, 2012-10-21
Captain: , lakeland (30)

I spent three nights here, while travelling down the ICW. Originally, I would have bypassed it, but I ran into some motor problems and was towed there. Words can not express how friendly and helpful the staff were. Everyone was going out of their way to help me out, even so far as to give me discounts (including a free night's dockage). The restaurant, Snooky's, is a bit on the pricey side, but, again, very friendly staff. I would absolutely recommend this marina to anybody in the area.

Nice stop over, 2012-09-05
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

8/18/12 -Easy access, even for larger boats (we are 45 foot Sea Ray). Clean. Minimal to no wake problems. Friendly staff. Nice bar/restaurant on site, often with live music you can hear throughout the marina. Ships store actually has a "deli" on site. If you are on the dock furthest away from the marina office, it is a bit of a walk.

Low fuel prices, 2012-07-08
Captain: , little river, sc (50)

Lowest fuel prices on waterway latley. The restaraunt above the ship's store (Snooky's) is awesome!!

Nice little marina, 2012-07-02
Captain: , St. Thomas, USVI (624)

We stayed one night here over the pre-4th of July weekend and it was a zoo (as was the entire waterway and all of the other marinas in the area). If all the yay-hoos were not out running back and forth making huge wakes all day and into the evening, this would have been probably a great place. The staff were extremely hospitable but those who helped un dock were a little inexperienced. Also no wifi at the boat - only in their captains' lounge. Other than that we were satisfied.

Good place for stopover and fuel, 2012-06-05
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (369)

Stopped for an overnight and fuel. Staff are very helpful and ferried us and jerry cans for diesel. Price on diesel was very competitive. Good restaurant, Snooky's, on site. Only downside is boaters who do not know what no wake means. Will definitely stop by on the way south again.

Good fuel stop, 2012-05-13
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1290)

We only stopped here for fuel because it was one of the best prices for the area. Very easy in and out off the ICW. Plenty of turn
around room for our 40 ft. sailboat.

Excellent Dockmaster, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Wrightsville, NC (270)

We have frequented Cricket Cove Marina several times. The dockmaster has been extremely sociable and they provide a few small slips for access to Snooky's. Nice concrete floating docks and I have found them to be the cheapest on gasoline in the area.

Caution at low tide, 2011-11-13
Captain: , Solomons, MD (110)

Ran aground on fairway leading to fuel dock (estimate 5' at low tide), then ran aground again on face dock (6' at low tide). Since the tide was 3-4 ft, it did not take long to float the boat again. Since I was unable to get to the fuel dock, the staff carried my Jerry cans back and forth from my boat to the fuel dock and we transfered fuel in that manner.

Nice, clean marina. Great showers. Great resturant (Snooky's).

Very Helpful, 2011-03-08
Captain: , Emerald Coast (10)

Sandy, the Dockmaster, has been just Super.
Glenn, the manager, thanks for the info on this boat.
Ross and Daryl, thanks for being friends.
Nice restaurant, 'Fibbers', walking distance (~1 mile)
on the waterfront of Little River.

Good stop before the Sunset Pontoon Bridge, 2009-04-21
Captain: , Miami (15)

We ran from Charleston to Cricket Cove Marina. It was after it closed but had called ahead. It's a great place to stop and check the tides and openings of the pontoon bridge. Very friendly for check in after closing and leaving before opening of the office.

Very convenient to ICW, 2008-01-21
Captain: , Oriental, NC (231)

We were on the face dock, which is certainly easy to approach and leave, as it is on the boundary of the ICW. Despite our expectations, we were not bothered by wakes from traffic. The bath facilities are a healthy hike along the dock, but they are quite nice. We bought neither food nor fuel. It is a convenient place to overnight while transiting the ditch.

Anybody home?, 2007-11-21
Captain: , Dallas, TX (102)

Despite their assurances someone would be there for our 1645-1700 arrival, they stayed true to their banker's hours closing time of 1630. Face dock very exposed to heavy traffic on the river. Diesel price high relative to others in neighborhood. Shoreside facilioties were 3 or 4 star.
