We stayed here in 2004 on our extended cruise to Florida because it was closer to town and it was cheap ($25/night w/ BoatUS discount). We found the facilities to be lacking, but the management at that time seemed to really care. It was a good place for us (on a budget) to ready for our 4000 mile trip.

Fast forward to 4th of July weekend, 2012: I visited a friend who keeps a 43' boat here. I was surprised to see it was EXACTLY the same as when I was there eight years ago - same rusty docks with planks lifting. My buddy keeps his boat there because it is CHEAP - $1300/year, if you negotiate with them, he told me. Rumor I heard was the place has been sold to a condo developer who's waiting for the real estate market to come back. Until then, they are just taking the money and not reinvesting anything. But, at $1300/year (that averages to $108.33/mo.!!!), my buddy's not complaining as it is possibly the cheapest place to keep a boat in West Michigan. He does pay extra for the winter haul-out, but informed me some boats actually stay in the water year round. You get what you pay for, but for $108.33/mo., I'd consider coming back here!

facilities are nasty and decrepit, 2012-01-23

management is clueless; docks are falling apart; showers are filthy; hot tub might work half the time if you're lucky.

There is good and bad:

Good: Adjacent to boardwalk and you can walk to town. Pool & Hot tub. Low Price.

Bad: Old fixed docks. Run down appearance. No wake protection. Boats speeding past 100ft away.

If you get the T-head be careful of the algea garden they are growing (leaking hose is causing algea growth on the dock). Slipped in front of dockmaster and he said nothing. Also the dockmaster wouldn't let me tie my own lines (went back and fixed them after he finally left).

We found Cresent marina to be charming. The Harbormaster and residents were very helpful and friendly. Eric the Harbormaster offered to take us into town to the store, same with the residents. We didn't need anything but that was nice of them to offer. There is a convienience store (with a full liquor selection) 1 block over then turn left 3 blocks from the marina.
There is a nice boardwalk a short distance from the marina that takes you near downtown.
