Reviews for Costa Rica Yacht Club

We called a day before arriving to get rates and to arrange for an escort up the estuary. We spoke with Ideli (pronounced Idly) and she made sure that the staff was aware of our intended arrival. When we were at the point of Puntarenas we called on VHF 06 to have the escort sent out. He arrived about 15 minutes later and guided us up the shallow estuary without incident.

We tied to a floating pier and although it is shallow here, we never touched bottom (we draw a little more than 6'). The rate for our 44' boat was $28/nt.

The staff is friendly, there is free wifi that reaches out to the mooring field when using a booster antenna, the pool isn't fancy but in good condition and clean, the restaurant serves average food and is fairly priced, laundry can be sent out and propane bottles can be filler. There are no car rental companies serving Puntarenas at this time.

The bus ride to town is about $1 and picks you up right in front of the marina. It's about a 10 minute ride to medium sized grocery stores, hardware stores and restaurants. I found an excellent meat store on the corner of Av 1 & Calle 1, across the street from the MegaSuper.

The Port Captain wants you to check in. It's free and easy but he doesn't speak English. Don't look for the office where the Sarana Guide says it is. It is actually located across the street from the cruise ship pier. Look for a modern building near a large water fountain. The office is located on the main floor.

place its been active for 50 + years , facilities are simple , and not updated with latest tech, there is a yard facilities and travel lift up to 20 tons max , yard its one of the logical choices in the area , not too much to choose from .
