Reviews for Coquina Yacht Club
A quiet kind of beautiful., 2017-02-18
Captain: , Ocracoke, NC (10)

Located in the same basin as two other marinas, the aft starboard corner of Coquina Harbor is home to the Coquina Harbor Yacht Club.

Great Stopover, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Pensacola (460)

We spent 3 nights at this marina in late July and found it to be a great stopover. Other marinas in the area as were all full so it wasn't our first choice, but we were so glad that we ended up there! As other reviewers indicated, Sandy is a true gem! She runs a tight ship but is so friendly and accommodating that you truly feel like a special guest. There is a nice lounge and laundry aera, several restaurants in walking distance and there is a nice boardwalk around the basin for getting a bit of scenery. Provisioning is a few miles away but Sandy is more than willing to take you if necessary. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Sandy at Coquina Yacht Club.

Sandy makes this marina, 2016-05-15
Captain: , Grand Rivers, KY (150)

We stayed more than two weeks at Coquina Yacht Club, both to go visit family and to take a breather from constant cruising. We love the place. The marina is laid back and tidy, the price is great, and, above all, Sandy, the 79-year-old harbor master, is some kind of saint.

Sandy watched our boat while we were gone and has proven to be a wonderful resource while we're here. She's driven us to stores, picked up our mail and generally been a great friend. She is revered around here, and I can see why.

Could the wifi be better? Yes. But if you don't have a cellular hotspot and truly value streaming quality wifi, then move on down the ICW to one of those $3 a foot marinas.

But we will come back here, because this place feels like home.

Great Marina, 2016-05-13
Captain: , Oriental, NC (190)

Good facilities. Great people. Communicate really well with transients coming in. Super restaurant on premises. Great experince. favor green side coming in. Do not cut close to red but exagerate turn in as if coming from south.

Best stop in this artifical harbor, 2016-03-25
Captain: , Sanibel (195)

W E were here on 3-8-16. Sandy answers the phone, very important to us when making a reservation. Bathrooms good, less expesive than the other two, good cable TV hook up. I do not understand people who use or expect free wifi to be good. If you use free wifi for your banking you are taking a terrible risk. If you want to stream videos get your own service. Very little within walking distance but Clarks restaurant by the harbor is excellent.

called the wrong marina, but it was ok, 2015-11-19
Captain: , annapolis, MD (120)

Several marinas in this keyhole. I called the wrong number, thinking I was calling one of the larger ones. In any case it was ok. The docks need pressure washing. As they were, we tracked mildew onto the boat deck. The showers werre very nice. The dockmaster was helpful. The advertized wifi was crap.

The most welcoming marina on the ICW, 2015-11-04
Captain: , Marquette. MI (20)

Sandy (whe runs this marina) will welcome you and help you in any way necessary. She's a true gem of the waterway! We had to unexpectedly fly home and leave our boat here and she watched over it the whole time. The marina is quiet and secure.

Hidden gem, $1 a foot with Boat US and a delightful harbormaster, 2015-10-29
Captain: , Bay City, MI (730)

We stayed 3 nights on a T dock along with a sailboat. Harbormaster greeted us and helped us tie up. She's not a spring chicken, but has lots of experience and is most capable. Bathrooms were a bit of a hike, but were clean and modern. Marina is in a basin with two other large marinas totallying about 500 boats. Interesting viewing. Clark's restaurant is nearby and has a wonderful happy hour. $4 wine and $5 appetizers.

Hard to beat the price at $1.25 or $1 with Boat US. Third day only pay $5 electricity.

We really liked Coquina, 2015-07-01
Captain: , Traverse City, Mi (281)

We ended up here because the other two marinas in the same basin did not have space and I'm glad they didn't. Sandy was excellent with communication and helpful information. She even tracked down a FedEx package for me! We stayed here for five days while we visited famiy in the area. The price very reasonable and the marina is quite secure. Dont pass this one up.

Very welcoming atmosphere and great rates, 2015-04-16
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2860)

We wound up here by accident, but had great assistance at the dock, a super dockage and electric hook-up rate, and great facilities.

Very nice docks good price, 2014-12-07
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Sandy can not do enough for you to include rides to stores. The other live a boards are very welcoming as well. $1.00 a foot with Boat US. Ended up $40 with power for our 37' boat and 50 amp power (240 volts). Staged here to hide from a Noreastr.

Exactly as described , 2014-11-28
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (465)

Sandy provides personal service. As a live aboard in the marina she makes every effort to ensure your transient experience is perfect. We will be back.

Reasonable spot, 2014-09-17
Captain: , venice (70)

Stopped here for night as we missed the opening for bridge headed south. Nice bathrooms and use of pool, but these are on quite a ways from docks. Good restaurant up the hill. Grocery store is a hike.

A great value with exellent attention., 2014-05-15
Captain: , Miami, Florida (60)

I have stopped here the last 3 times on my trips rather than anchor in
Calabash Creek. Sandra does a great job and the rates make it a great value. Fully protected basin with nice floating docks. Very clean bathrooms.

Excellent accommodations and the price is right, 2014-05-15
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (35)

Easy access, floating docks, good great price and friendly, helpful dockmaster, Sondra Otten.

No Better Place, 2014-05-12
Captain: , Hampton, VA (453)

We left the boat here for two weeks after we came back from the Bahamas and we are very pleased with our selection. Sandra is incredible and will ensure your boat is watched after. The slip rate is excellent and at $1.00 a foot with Boat US discount it's a great value. Beautiful floating docks with WiFi and easy exit and entrance to ICW. Will stay again trip south in November.

Great stop in North Myrtle Beach!, 2014-04-01
Captain: , Woolford MD (132)

Great rates! Nice floating docks. Nice restroom, laundry, and lounge. Sandra drove us for groceries. Short walk to Tribal Island miniature golf course, restaurants, and convenience store.

'Such A Deal!!', 2013-10-28
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

Arrived in Little River later than I expected and no one was answering my VHF calls, no one except Sandy at Coquina Yacht Club. She guided us in and provided us with all the local knowledge we needed. With Boat US it's a buck a foot.

Wonderful Visit $1 /ft, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Rock Hall,md (90)

$1/ ft with Boat US discount GREAT DEAL. NOt sure how long this offer will be good for but jump on it you won't be disappointed. Sandy the Dock Master is delightful !

Great staff. Safe and secure marina, 2013-01-17
Captain: , Palm Coast, Florida (785)

We intended to stay one month, but stayed 3 months. Sandra the dockmaster keeps a good watch out, and will take you where you need to go (West Marine, Groceries). "Natures Call" pump out boat comes to your dock (call on CH 16).

Excellent and Inexpensive Stop (relative to the area!), 2012-06-17
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

Sandra came to assist us in even though we were arriving at 7 pm. Docks were great - didn't use the restrooms on shore so can't comment. This is a very protected marina as has been stated in previous reviews. The breakfast places across the road made for a nice morning.

Even though it won't look like there is much current, there really can be so allow for it. Going to the face dock was very easy though. The entrance is well marked but be sure to stay in the center of the channel - especially when leaving as the channel bends somewhat at the red buoy at the entrance. Keep that buoy to your port side when leaving the marina.

Thank you Sandra!, 2012-04-08
Captain: , Quebec (30)

Everything was very good, also the warm welcome of Sandra. The floating dock look new.
Be careful when entering in the harbor, with current, it"s quite narrow.

Coquina Yacht Club, 2011-12-03
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

Very protected. Entrance is straight forward and the lowest depth I saw was 10.5 feet 1 hour after high tide. Staff is friendly. Showers a little walk from the transient dock but very clean.

If its blowin, here is the place to be goin, 2011-10-10
Captain: , Lavallette, NJ (251)

Shletered from wind and wake, sitting in basin with 20 ft high banks and 3 story condos - its perfect for escaping high winds. Helpful, friendly staff and things clean and orderly. Limited options for eating and shopping - one restaurant at next door yacht club, a McDs behind shower/laundry and gas station convenience store.

Protected Spot, Good Price, 2011-05-16
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (326)

Friendly but a bit tight. The McDonalds at the top of the hill and the convenience store on Rt. 17 are close. Several restaurants surround the harbor. Officers Club has an excellent chef. Good Italian at Umberto's. We have been here several times and always meet great folks who are QYC regulars.

Best marina in Myrtle Beach, 2010-11-11
Captain: , Rowayton, CT (181)

There are three marinas in this little harbor, Myrtle Beach Yacht Club, Anchor Marina and Coquina Yachr Club. Coquina Yacht Club is much less expensive than the other two; however, the facilities are great. They have a wonderful lounge with a big TV and the showers are first class. They are very friendly and helpful. I can;t understand why anyone would pick either of the others over Coquina. When we were there in 11/6/2010 they charged $1.25/ ft while the other two charged $1.50 - 1.75/ft.

great little hideout, 2010-04-24
Captain: , Worton (445)

If you have boat us this is a great hidehole. well protected and cheap. Sandy is very helpful. Captians quarters, showers all good.

Friendly / nice, 2009-08-11
Captain: , Old Saybrook Ct (250)

Stayed there 8/8/09 very nic quit marina/ yacht club. the dock master Sandry and her husben Bob greeted us at the dock and got us set., even took our daughter nexy door to the local motel to get permission to use the pool. Very clean, gated dock access. Be carefull going in at inside of main breakwater it gets shallow 4' 6'' at low tide short hump very soft mud, the rest of harbor 6'+ . Boats us discount 1.25/ft

Nice facility, 2009-07-04
Captain: , Fort Myers (769)

We plan to stay for three months. Great hurricane protection. Got 9/foot/month rate. Dockmaster lives at marina and watches all that goes on. Great lady. Very helpful with everything. She will drive you if you need to go somewhere and can help with anything you need. It is a bit of a hike to bath facilities/offices, but worth the price.

Walmart/WestMarine/HomeDepot all less than 4 miles away.

Myrtle Beach and Route 17. What can I say? They have every store or restaurant known to man.

Coquina Yacht Club, 2009-04-17
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Nice facilities. Helpful dockmaster.

There are a couple restaurants nearby, but groceries are almost 2 miles away.

No tide, wake or current issues to worry about.

Good value, 2008-04-28
